How we Fit the Window Frames and Cladding in our Campervan | Vauxhall Vivaro SWB Van Conversion PT3

Join us as we convert a Vauxhall Vivaro SWB into a tiny home on wheels.
In this episode we put the wall and ceiling battons up, clad the entire shell and paint the walls. We also get a little visitor in the workshop! It is really exciting to see the van come to life and we can’t wait to start working on the sofa bed and kitchen which we will share with you in our next episode!

@@nicroams I mostly agree with you and sorry if my comment was a bit rude. I'd like to give you a tip on using celotex: rather than cutting it with a saw, use a thin bladed knife like an opinel - you can get smoother cuts and not tear out the foil back but more importantly it doesn't release all the plastic "dust" into the environment. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you consider using sheep's wool instead - it has great insulating, moisture control and breathability properties, is super cheap (farmers usually happy to sell for £20/30 a cubic metre as it's essentially a by-product for them), isn't flammable, doesn't rot like other natural insulators and is totally non-toxic at every stage from production to use. I started using it a few years ago and haven't looked back. A fantastic material.

@@nicroams You're welcome, used a thin layer of foam insulation followed by a layer of recycled plastic for my coversion, didn't want any form of heating and have used it year round with no problems. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Just a build note regarding “cotton” this is quite an absorbent material, it will collect and hold condensation. Better to consider a poly type auto carpet actually.

Hey, at 5:58 does anyone know how to attach the batons to the ceiling? Drill straight through the metal? would that encourage rusting?

Hi. I am also converting a similar van, a Renault Trafic LWB. Those bumpy bits in the middle posts are for seatbelt mounts for when the van is used as a crew van. They are really awkward as you said. I have managed to cover the wall with 6mm ply and then boxed that bump in by flexing a shaped piece of play and cutting a weird shaped edging piece. You are way further on than me and your van is looking great. I hope mine looks as good. Loving your videos. I have a question... where will you store your batteries?

How did you guys deal with the slanting rear door pillar when fitting the cladding to the long wall? Did you cut each bit of cladding to that angle?

Easy drive self drilling screws from Screwfix are great. I used them to attach the wooden batons to the van floor. Without the need of any pilot holes. Went through the batons and sheet metal with ease

For this build we used Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell 🤗. I think the white is called all white and the black is called railings 🤗

You have lost loads of internal space with the batons
