I really should know better before this happened. Somehow, it's different on a cruise. It's too easy to drop your guard. So many times, getting across the ship goes through the casino. Now that we have a firm plan and enough cruise experience, I think we will do very well getting even more comps.

Time spent is a big deal on land casino's as well. The casino's figure if you play a long time that even if you win. You are likely to give it back the longer that you stay!

@@enjoylifetraveling320 I believe at RCL, what matters is how much you bet and which games you play. If you play slots or videopoker, the time spent gambling does not matter. If you play table games, the time you spend at the table will influence the staff's estimate of how much money you bet...so playing slow and low may help.

My advice? If you are a gambler, just gamble and have fun. You will get your comps for sure. If you're not a gambler, do not start just to chase comps. when you use a comp, you are expected to gamble on your "free cruise." So if you aren't a gambler, do not start.

Nice explanation of getting to Prime without burning a hole in ones pocket ! Though a bit long :) Some of us are looking to achieve a certain number of points PER CRUISE even if we are at Prime or above. Being I also do Carnival there is a big difference when it comes to COMPS and cruise offers. As just a note for reference for a future video sit with Signature or better yet one of those unicorn Masters to get their experience on getting to that level and maintaining it. @@enjoylifetraveling320 2 years about the same time I started with Royal. I currently only have 2 Cruises with them but have 4 scheduled for 2026 ( all suites and drinks everywhere). I just completed a invite only Elite Cruise which is opened to casino cruisers that may have met some "formula" known only to them. Based upon my status with Royal I would say it runs some what in a similar format. ( points) Carnival points earned per cruise are NOT cumulative. BUT your subsequent offers are based upon your level of play. Also there is a DIFFERENCE that you get 1 point in slots for every $2.50. There are multiple comps that are given by Host for a set based upon the level of your play. ( like drinks in the Casino) Note the more points you gain during the cruise you may get a certificate for the next cruise and may include drinks ANYWHERE for you and your companion for that entire cruise, ( limit 14 drinks per day) Offers from Carnival may include the ability to use them up to 3 cruises. My offers for with Royal as well Carnival start at the Suite level and then lower to other levels. Royal has not offered the level of comps like Specialty Dining/Spas/excursions. Though I have feeling that it is being done on Royal if the host is seeing someone consisting playing at Masters level. As other folks have already attested Carnival as well Royal have distinct level of comps. Now the big Elephant in the ROOM is WHICH one ( Casino) may give back for what you put in ? For myself I really like sailing on BOTH. Sorry for the long dissertation

I avoided the casinos because of the smoke but I am now intrigued about earning free cruises as I am retired and could basically travel anytime! I don't even know how to use a slot machine. Thanks for the comment. I'm working on a few MSC videos. The MSC private Marine Reserve Island look will likely be next week. I bought an amazing camera to shoot it but made lots of learning mistakes. Luckily, the camera is so good that I can pull the most amazing pictures out or the extreme shakiness of the video. The island is incredibly beautiful. A ship tour is coming as well as a casino tour. While I again had some operator issues. I think I can correct much of it. I accidentally shot some of it in slow motion. Lol. So I have to speed up the video. It's my first time using it and was too much technology for this old man. I'll get better!

There is definitely a difference on how the cruiselines handle the casino comps. I'm not yet familiar NCL. I'm looking forward to learning more. That many points I'd think would be a lot of cruise offers. It certainly would have been on Royal Caribbean or Carnival. Just the cruise is free. That said, with Prime status, my casino drinks are free. We’ve cruised so much in 2 years that we have diamond loyalty status which gets us 4 free drinks per day per person anywhere on the ship. Excellent question!

Attack from planet Moolah, little Shop of Horrors is a medium volatility game but I always do fairly well. Hexbreaker if the reals are set up right (that's probably another video), Crazy Money but the basic game, not the newer versions that are more volatile and Press your luck. Press your luck is more medium volatility. I try to avoid games over medium volatility. But I play a few. If you have a favorite. Many games can be google searched for volatility. Many manufacturers will put out what the game volatile is.

There are some general ways to tell. if you know you are going or know of a specific machine. You can Google them. Often the manufacturers post the machine volatility. Generally speaking, machine that are offerings hundreds of thousands of dollars in jackpots that have lots of features and progressive jackpots are high volatility. The machine is programed to make money. If the jackpots are huge. It has to collect from the players enough losing and profit for the jackpots to pay out. That means lots and lots of losing spins. i have a video out from Wonder of the Seas nonsmoking casino where I show the volatility of those few games. I'm curious as to what the math works out to be. When I price cruises, I generally try to go for ones which are $100 per day per person (or less). So, that's the reason for my question - just wondering if you are ending up paying >$100 per day on gambling, in order to get a "free" cruise. Like, what's the total outgo in $$, and total number of days?

I think the first part of the question I need to say that if there were no casino loyalty problems. We would be in the casino playing roughly the same way. So we are not necessarily spending to get a free cruise. It's planned entertainment we have budgeted. The magic for me is that now I'm taking several cruises from each casino session. The 2nd leg of Alaska which is where my offers are coming from has given 5 free cruises for two. Arguably, 1 free cruise may be that pet day push from a gambling dollar to cruise for 1 person. But even that was covering two people. If you can take one casino session and turn it into multiple cruises that you can actually take. It's super cheap. I can't stay home and feed myself for the month plus worth of offers that I've accepted. As my wife gets closer to retirement. We are eventually looking to travel full time and cruises through casino comps is a big part of that plan

It's fine if you don't want to get specific, or if you haven't kept close track. But, what I was really wondering is what is the net amount you have paid, and the total number of days of cruising for what you have paid. So, for example, let's say you paid $2000 for your first cruise and it's a 7-day cruise ($1k per person). And, then you spent/lost $1,600 in the casino on that cruise ($800 each). As a result, let's say you get a free 5-day cruise for 2. So - at this point, you'd be $3,600 total, and you would have your original 7-day, plus your free 5-day, that's 12 total days, for that $3,600 investment. That's $150 per day PP to cruise. We'll probably cruise a lot more as we get closer to retirement, so I'm just trying to figure out if I will end up paying for the cruises the normal way, or if we'll pay for them the fun way - in the casino. :) :)

Great question! One is the free prime cruise, and the other is you both get free drinks in the casino. You can combine some casino offers for room upgrades too or book separate rooms for double Crown and Anchor Loyalty points. If you're not much of a drinker and she's playing enough in the casino. She's possibly going to get enough offers depending on how much she's playing to get more free cruises than you can even take. My wife and I are at a point where it's really not all that important that we both hit Prime. We will start next year basically using one card and target our playing and budget to maximize those offers. The prime cruise had less value when they're sending us as many cruises as we're getting by strategically playing on the one. When we are both retired, we will use more offers by strategically playing on both. Plus, we will be using multiple cruise lines to bounce around and see the world. I hope that answers your question clearly.

Several manufacturers post the volatility of their machines. If you're at the casino and trying to figure it out on the fly. If there are HUGE jackpots and a zillion different features that can go off, it's probably high volatility. That means a lot of dead spins where it's just eating money. For the machine to pay those big payouts, it has to be collected enough from the players. All machines are set for the machine to win more than payout. So there are way more losses over a long period of time for it to hit the big stuff. I hope I typed that clearly enough. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Seems to me... 1.) a free cruise is usually a free cabin for two peeps.. SO why not just gamble on one card.. you or your wifes? That way the total amount thru the machines is the same, but credited to one person, not two.. Whats the point , pun intended, of one spouse getting 1200 points, and another getting 1300 .. when if gambling all on one account.. you get 2500 and prime status... 2.) IF its true.. that you are only as good as your last cruise.. as far as your gambling totals are.. then .. book ALL the free cruises you can.. and do NOT gamble on any of them.. until the LAST one.. then gamble big on the last one.. to get more free cruises. ?!! Your cruise itself is paid. There are still the countries that you visit and their port fees, which you have to pay regardless of if you leave the ship. Of course, taxes also need to be paid.

I'm hoping to show that playing at low bets on lower volatility machines leads to gaining higher casino points that lead to free cruise offers. I go into the casino with a casino budget that I expect to lose. I know I'll get wins sometimes. But by playing smart. I mitigate the losses and cruise more. I appreciate the comment. One reason I shared real numbers is because many other channels don't. If someone is gambling and thinking about getting free cruises. Losing control of your budget can get too easy to justify. I've definitely caught myself too late, and I'm a lot more mindful of where I'm at. Having a solid plan and stick to it is important. Thanks for the comment.

Great video! My wife and I have started our own channel, brand new! We are still trying to figure out how to edit, what are niche should be, etc. I thought it was awesome! You shared great information, I believe your personality came through better with the longer video. I subscribed, liked and watched it through to the end. We are going on a RC cruise in December and I will be exploring casino comping. I am frequently getting comped in Vegas but have never done anything with a cruise. I will be checking out more of your videos. Good luck and I hope there are many more “hand pays” in your future.
