Thanks for these videos. These type recipes need to continue through the generations or they will get lost. There are so many old southern recipes out there that our Grannys made that just bring back so many stories and memories

So true. Many recipes were made because that's all they had. My Mom said her mother would make "butter pies" for the kids if there was leftover dough from the fried fruit pies she made for the field hands. They had a pat of butter and tsp of sugar in place of the fruit.

Today I have bought some of the products you recommend and I am going to try your biscuits today. If there are any biscuits left , your bread pudding will be my next recipe. Blessings to you and your family!

Since we buy 2% milk, I also use the evaporated milk for whole milk. We called it canned cream growing up. Thanks for the suggestion of turning the temperature down on the toaster oven. I use a toaster oven occasionally and things always come out too dark. Love your recipes.

Good lord, girl! I got little bowls just like that with the blue stripe. My Big Mama made biscuit pudding! I thought she invented it! LOL! She put cocoa in hers and it was some good. Loved to see your granny's method since I didn't write down Big Mama's recipe and have tried to recreate it with poor results. I'm sure going to try your granny's recipe using the delicious buttermilk biscuits you've taught us. Thanks for reminding us about good country cooking.

Oh my goodness! My Grandma used to call my Grandaddy just like that....his name, however was Ed!! She also made bread pudding with leftover biscuits, only her version was chocolate. She used Hershey's cocoa in it. I will be making it today. She crumbled the biscuits to a fine crumb. My aunt even called it crumb pudding. I just love watching you cook...I cook pretty much the same. Bless you 'n yours! Oh, and Chris and I have something in common, as well: I used to teach!

There was a little meat and three restaurant across from the bank where I worked many, many years ago. The owner made the best bread pudding! We'd have to call and reserve servings or else it would all be eaten by the 11:00 lunch crowd! This reminds me of his pudding because he used left over biscuits and stale light bread.

Had a visit to the Doctor last week. I won’t be using olive oil to cook with anymore. Avocado oil has a higher breakdown point. I was told to use butter or coconut oil to bake wit and full fat milk instead of skim. I don’t like whole milk! And never drink diet drinks. Oh, good grief! What next?

On My! I'm going to take your recipe and try to adapt it to make "biscuit brownies". That's something Grandmother (ok, all my cousins called her Granny, but my mom taught us to call her Grandmother - not sure what my brother called her.... He spent a whole lot of his childhood with her because he was born from my mom's first marriage.... I came along 18 years later from a different marriage) used leftover biscuits for. Now, if I'm successful, I'm going to try to barter the adapted recipe for the BBQ sauce recipe from one of my cousins. He refuses to give it to me...family secret...his dad was my uncle...sounds like family to me 😂. But, he asked my mom for this recipe a few years ago. She hadn't made it in years and couldn't remember it (she's 94). We're having a family reunion next month and, if I can get it to work, I'll bring them as my contribution. Then...... Let the bartering begin! And, I'm not giving my sister the recipe because I know she'll give it to him. Problem is, we're spending a week's vacation together leading up to the reunion. Gotta be sneaky!! I'll let you know if it turns out 😀
