I'm going to give a bit of a story about myself with my crush. It's going to be pretty long. Sorry! 🙈 So, you mentioned about how someone means so much to you, and honestly, that's how I feel about my crush. He's in the seminary right now, so this past year, he's been gone for vicarage. He comes back in August this year, and he was with us at my church from August 2020-May 2022. The first time I saw my crush at church, I was immediately attracted to him (not unusual) but all the thoughts that I'd have when crushing on other guys, I didn't have with him. I wanted things to be natural, go slow, and take time; I didn't want to rush into anything. When he first introduced himself to the congregation in November 2020 (I've journaled about him a LOT 😂), I was smiling so much and I kid you not, I'm pretty sure he saw because he was fighting the urge to smile. Okay, now, fast forward to May 2nd, 2021. That was the FIRST time I had talked to him. We were having a Star Wars themed youth night that night. He was going, and the high schoolers in the family I'm friends with was going, so I went. After the youth night was over, I asked him if he had a girlfriend (he didn't). Then, the following Sunday, I told him that I had a crush on him but he said, "I appreciate it, but I'm not looking for a relationship right now." We didn't see each other much during the summer, then August rolled around, and things picked up a little. I went to his high school Bible Study which, after the second time going, he asked me to pray aloud (he didn't do it for anyone else; he'd ask, but then he would do it himself). Fast forward. Over the past year (2021-2022), we wouldn't talk when other people were around. If we do talk, it's usually only if we're by ourselves (I've noticed that we ALWAYS get interrupted) and it started after I started staying up at my church for the youth nights (he was already doing that because it was too long of a drive for him from the seminary). He's asked me if I'd ever move while we talked about how he's moved and I've never moved, and then in May 2022, he kind of asked me the same question when I was talking about how teachers don't make a lot of money. I will say, I put in more effort in trying to talk to him, but for me, it's really me FINALLY coming out of my shell since I'm always so shy around guys. We've talked here and there while he's been gone this past year, but I have always texted him first (about once a month). Before I asked for his number in November 2021, he told me he wasn't good at responding, so with how little he's replied, I've expected it. And before he left, I bought him a new notebook to take with him with quotes and memories from the high schoolers in his Sunday School class. I gave it to him, and he asked if he could give me a hug and said, "I'll miss you." Honestly, I was caught off guard. He's not a touchy-feely person and I never see him hug anyone. Anyways, going back to what you've said... I was happy before he came to my church, but that happiness has exploded during the time he's been in my life, despite only seeing him once a week. I was MISERABLE when he left and I regret texting him less than a month after he left, but I was having a really hard time. That's been another reason why I've texted him once a month; to temporarily fill that void of not seeing him on Sunday's. I keep telling people that my happiness left when he left because I loved being around him so much that, when he left, I couldn't find anything that made me happy. What usually brings me happiness wasn't bringing me happiness. He comes back either August 6th or August 13th. I'm excited to see him again, but also really nervous--nervous that he might be talking to or dating someone, nervous that me texting him once a month has ruined anything that COULD have been, etc.

Our timing doesn’t always match God’s. Whether it’s this guy, or someone in the future, He will be worth the wait! Just focus on the Lord & serving him in the meantime!❤️

Hi Katie! I'm 4 months behind 😁 but I couldn't help but relate to your story! Your comment sounded A LOT like my journal entries a year ago. When God wants something to happen, nothing will prevent it from happening, and excellent things can come from that! However, sometimes He will protect us from what we are POSITIVE we want because He has something so much better for us that we can't even begin to wrap our heads around. That can be difficult to understand, but He is a good and loving Father who loves us so much more than we can comprehend! Trust in Him no matter what, and He will make your paths straight, whether with this guy or with someone even better in the future! 🙏🏻

Assuming you’re plenty old enough to be mature enough to marry, there’s no time restriction. You can marry as soon as you’d like but just have to make sure you know you’re equally yoked and ready for that commitment financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

You know, it’s so funny because my parents have a similar story. She lived in California and got called when she was 15, I don’t remember when my dad got called, but he was from Kansas/Missouri. Anyways my mom comes to do an internship in Florida for her college and my dad is working there and they were friends and they also did long distance for a while. My dad was in the Middle East for a little bit and he actually got my mom tickets to Turkey to meet up with him and his group as a Christmas present. Then HE PROPOSED TO HER at Ephesus and it’s so cool what God has done, I’ve literally have family and friends all across the globe. I was born in Florida and before I was a year old we moved to Bulgaria, where my brother was born. We were told we needed to leave and we ended up coming back to Florida where my other brother was born. My parents wanted to go back to Bulgaria so we moved to Istanbul but then we stayed (def. because of God’s hand) and I went to first grade there. Then about to years later we move to Aydın near about 30 min from Ephesus! Crazy how God brought that back around! We lived there for 8 years before moving back in September of 2020 and were sort of across the country until we settled in Florida. As I wait for my own partner and try to navigate my own relationships, it’s encouraging to know that God can LITERALLY DO ANYTHING!!!❤

Thoughts, why do you feel the need to say “Christian” in the title? Do you have a non-Christian love story? It sounds like you do. I completely understand that you are Christians, and that you are wanting to point people to Christ and encourage following God’s will for seeking a spouse. Better title “Our Love Story”. I honestly messed up my love life so far. I was going through a chronic illness undiagnosed when I cried and prayed for a Christian guy to come into my life in 2014. I met three or four guys during University. One Iarla not a Christian Clau now converted orthodox faith Brian a Christian Leo Brazilian something. Leo was a receptionist at a hostel I stayed at in Galway Ireland and he was very kind, generous, comforting and thoughtful. The last time I saw him was in a hotel where he gave me a massive hug when he saw me. Iarla I expected to be my study partner as promised by his friend I met in 2012 but this never happened and in 2012 and 2013, he had a different girlfriend. Clau a Romanian whom I met in November 2014/2015 at a hostel receptionists birthday part whom I felt led to approach. That evening a friend of the staff made a joke or comment that we would make a good couple. It was important to Clau that I be intimate with him but he said not to worry about losing him if I do because he likes me. He never wanted to label the relationship even though once he introduced me to his flatmate as his girlfriend. This supprised me. He eventually dated a woman and we were definitely only friends then for years and later on down the line he said our relationship was only casual and he wants no commitment. Brian I met at Christian society and I instantly said I want to marry him to myself. Many times he came to kitchen where I was, at church and said hi smiled and looked down and groomed himself. In 2016, a guy whom I realised was Iarla on the bike, wanted deep eye contact with me after nodding hi to me, later on he almost ran me over on the bike and responded with 'hi! Minutes later, Brian unexpectedly approaches me but I can't remember him so he has to remind me and is devastated and upset saying 'I can't believe you don't remember me'! I tell him no offence but I have a phobia of attractive guys like you. Well later on after listening to me speak for hours, Brian's friend shows up and he says he has to go. Later on I don't have time to see Brian at Bible study event or Christian society so another woman comes along and he befriends, dates and marries her. Iarla was playing many love songs in my presence in the hostel and was all hot and cold and shy towards me and my intuition was saying he fancies me is in love with me, even though his was with another woman a different woman whom I seen on his Facebook profile that was displayed on the computer screen as if he had been using that specific computer. Anyway.... I haven't been blessed really when it comes to romance or friends. Thanks very much for listening.
