Really would like to see a video on property purchase on the island because we want to buy. What we’ve noticed is that prices haven’t varied much since we were last there (March 2019) but the number of properties for sale seem to have ballooned (no real surprise I suppose given the times we are living in). Great vlog ladies! Very open and honest. One comment, then a request. Caleta versus Corralejo - Caleta is much more central, easier for exploring the island, Betancuria or Morro Jable for example. When I first came to Fuerte, I thought bloody hell, this is the bright side of the moon! After two or three weeks the sepia landscape, especially the cloud shadows over the mountains became really beautiful. Which is kind of weird, being from the west coast of Sweden, which is all about green nature and the archipelago.

I'd say that Caleta is more chilled whereas Corrallejo is a lot more commercialised. I first went to Caleta in about 2005 before the huge building development on the side of the mountain behind the golf course but even now it's still more relaxed and rural. Both nice but depends on what you want. The beauty of living in a warm climate which is often overlooked by the Greenies is the lack of heating and clothing needed. What's not to like about that? If I could afford it, i'd be off like a shot considering the way the UK is going.

While in Utah, push up to Bryce Canyon. The scenery there is as awe-inspiring as Lake Tahoe is mesmerizing.

The buses are brilliant, cheap and air conditioned. But they typically go from city center to city center. What's great is you can bring a bike, which make getting around really easy!

We are hoping to retire in the next couple of years. We started talking about it around 10 years ago but finally made some firm plans about 5 years ago, investing with that goal in mind. I joined Mr Money Mustache forums around the same time and we have been following the "FIRE" lifestyle since then - saving the majority of our income and living frugally. We are not planning to leave the UK for good but we plan to take some long term lets and see how it goes. Its great to hear your story and that it can be done! Until recently its always seemed like a bit of a dream but as we get closer we are getting more serious :) Someone once said to me the only thing you cant buy is time, and as I have passed into middle age that keeps echoing in my mind and makes me more determined to do this. Really pleased for both of you how its worked out and hopefully things continue on the up and up.

Hi both, we really enjoyed this fascinating vlog. Sandra has been interested or speculating about a move to Fuerteventura so it was great to get an insight how you went about it. The debate on Corralejo v Caleta made sense (we’re in the Corralejo corner) and also your choice to stay out of the resorts. We met an ex-pat in Turkey who told us the hardest thing was to remember you’re not on holiday but living there when we discussed cost of living etc. Having had to rearrange planned visits in November and December it now looks like it’s doubtful our trip in March (13th) will be able to happen but we’ve everything crossed for June (2nd). We miss Fuerteventura so much ☹️ Take care both Mike and Sandra

Yes it definitely feels different living here vs being on holiday. A lot of people like the idea of retiring to a resort and having one long holiday but there are definitely some downsides to that approach (mainly the liver damage and the higher costs of eating and drinking out all the time!). Hope you manage to get out in June, I’d say that seems a realistic target at the moment 👍

So in awe of you guys, being focused and able to put those plans into action is an inspiration. Thanks for this video. Really informative. Just a tip for Sarah here - you can access your NHS pension from age 55 before 2028. It is worth looking at as when I did the sums I would have to live well beyond 85 to benefit the wait until after 60.

Love how yous answer sooo many questions, so interesting. We want to emigrate to one of the island's where we'd be able to set up a business or get jobs as we don't have savings🤣I hope our holiday to fuerteventura doesn't get cancelled due to the pandemic as we're itching to get out there😎 Edit, meant to say I've been to the village many times in my youth, always enjoyed going the gay bars with me mates back before I moved upto Scotland
