I've been mixing and matching my own T/U paint for 20 yrs. You're the first person I've run into that's gifted with a similar kind of talent. Glad there are others; I was starting to wonder if I had a one-off ability. With my work, I always strive for 90-95% matches. In the last 10 yrs, I haven't needed to use recipes for most colors. Comes in handy for boats, RV's, bicycles and motorcycles. Let alone the convenience of just picking up toners and mixing what I need on the spot. 100% matches are rare, so I let those happen naturally. Would love to connect with you and compare notes.

Do you have a Instagram? Dm me we can connect. what system are you using for your matching? It's really hard you memorize the wheel matching becomes a lot easier.

@BorndetailersTv I'm not on Instagram, but I might start an account. Using SW Ultra 7000, but I can mix with any paint system as long as I have access to all the toners and powders. And like you say, once you get the color wheel figured out, things go much faster. I noticed you were working with pretty thick paint. Do you ever thin it down with paint reducer? I find that with the smaller chips or scratches into the basecoat, that thinned paint dries smoother and settles down into the repair area better.

I've got an '89 560SL in Los Angeles that I really wish could get this kind of love, instead of a whole new paint job.

Amazing work, I need this kind of work done on my 2023 Cayman GT4 but I'm on the East Coast. Know anyone out this way you could recommend?

If you have a deep scrrach or chip in a panel. Would you recommend first dabbing on a primer area then dab or brush on the paint then clear on top of that?
@BorndetailersTvАй бұрын
Yes I would if it's a time thing
