how is the last interval a diminished 4th? and you never explained the sign at the end. but thank you a lot.
@MusicMattersGB3 жыл бұрын
The x sign means double sharp. G up to C# is an augmented 4th, therefore G# to C# is a perfect 4th, therefore Gx to C# is a diminished 4th.

@@MusicMattersGB thank you so much. Very much appreciated. You’re the best. So the Gx will be played as A on the keyboard?

Absolutely correct.

second last exercise, from A# to F is a 6th interval. but since there is no A# 'major' scale and you told us to see if second note is in major key of lower note - so how to do it? how this is this diminished 6th interval?
@MusicMattersGB4 жыл бұрын
You can transpose the interval eg A# to F is exactly the same interval as A to Fb.

@@MusicMattersGB thank you so so so much. i am grateful.

@@MusicMattersGB but A to Fb is minor 6th because it is one semitone less than major 6th? then how can it be 'diminished' please? kindly advise. thanks
@MusicMattersGB4 жыл бұрын
A to F natural is a minor 6th. A to Fb is a semitone smaller than that so it’s a diminished 6th.

@@MusicMattersGB ok many thanks once again. I completely understood now. i thought A to F was major 6th but in fact A to F# is major 6th so A to Fb is diminished 6th. i am so very grateful.

I don't know music theory at all, but in a A# Major chord, F is the 5th right ? How can it also be a dim 6th ? it doesnt make sense to me
@MusicMattersGB Жыл бұрын
In an A# major chord the 5th is E#. A# to E# sounds the same as A# to F but A# to E# is a perfect 5th; A# to F is a diminished 6th. They sound the same but look different.

Why is the example a Minor Tenth or Compound Minor Tenth?
