In Australia, they recently revised the chest compression rate. Instead of it being 100 it's now between 100 and 120. I was told getting closer to the latter is preferred so your editor was technically correct. At least when it comes to Australian standards.

Yeah, when I took First Responder lessons in the US like 4 or 5 years ago they were already mentioning the update. Said they used to tell people to do chest compressions to either the beat of Staying Alive or Another One Beats the Dust... but then with the update Staying Alive was found to now be too slow and Dust is the only option 😨 They recommended we not sing out loud
@janedoex13983 жыл бұрын
If you are too fast, isn't there the increasing risk you don't allow the chest to rise again AND not reaching the needed 2 inches aka the compresssions becoming too shallow to really get the blood flow around, increasing the risk of clots to form that get pumped out with the next deep compression ? (I learned for an untrained person) to better do 90 compresssions correct and deep enough, than 110 that are shallow and too fast to let the chest rise and the heart "relax" - for the lack of a better term (this is not my first language) - before compressing the chest again. Also - for people not perfectly trained - better do it not a 100 % correct, before doing NOTHING OUT OF FEAR TO DO IT WRONG ! IF YOU DO NOTHING, THE PERSON WILL DIE. IF YOU DO IT NOT PERFECT, HE/ SHE AT LEAST HAS A MUCH BERTER CHANCE ! AND AT LAST : ALWAYS PUT THE PATIENT ON THE FLOOR, NEVER DO IT ON A BOXSPRING BED WITH A DEEP / SOFT MATRESS ! YOU WILL JUST PRESS THE MATTRESS! ON THE FLOOR, NO PILLOWS AND USE YOUR BODY WEIGHT , BASICALLY LEAN OVER THE PATIENT WHEN YOU DO COMPRESSIONS, SO YOU WON'T GET EXHAUSTED THAT FAST! That's all I can think of atm. Please correct me if I said anything incorrect. I was trained in ALS , but that doesn't mean I don't know everything or make mistakes. Also, guidelines change so often and are different where you might live....

I think that "what causes hiccups?" was an awful trick question. That's because the question can be interpreted in two different ways, and you chose the way that people usually don't think of. One way to interpret the question is what's the _initial_ cause of you getting hiccups, ie. what is it that starts it. The other way to interpret it is what's the physical mechanism for that "hiccup" reaction that your body makes at regular intervals (when you "have hiccups"), ie. what muscles cause those movements etc. The question is ambiguous, and most people would interpret it as meaning the former, but you chose the latter meaning. Which makes it a trick question.
@roninnib66353 жыл бұрын
I learn in school that hiccups were a left over reaction to trying to use your gills. I have no clue if this is true, but that’s how I remember it.
