potassiumb1 Yea with that attitude, good luck being the doormat of Europeans. Asians understood that you need power so that your nation can decide it's own matters, without western inteference. No wonder there are rarely women presidents lol. Unless she is like Merkel or the South Korean president, most women presidents would ot their nations in danger of being economically colonized.

You...hit the nail on the head. As a black person from the UK going to Africa for the first time was a life changing experience...for the the first time in my life I felt like I was somewhere where I belonged; it felt like home. I could walk the streets and was no longer a minority, everyone looked like me. I have visited several countries since and it is my ambition to one day move there permanently. I think everyone of African decent should visit the motherland at least once in their lives...it my not have the same impact it had on me, but it will change you forever.

I'm divorced, so hope to find a wife in Africa & start anew. Hope U make that trip. From the midwest, my fare thru S.African Airlines was only $1450 RT & an AirBnB can be as cheap as U need & plenty to choose from.

I went to 2 comedy Plays at the National theatre. I went to the Mall. I saw some houses at Trasacco Valley that will simply amaze you. I saw nice hotels. the food was great. Restaurant were classy. It was very exciting. It's still a 3rd world country but, I could easily live there.

Ghana is nice, I am nigerian American, but I gotta tell u there is a long way to go in africa, anyone who has eyes can see that. nice people without infrastructure, electricity and good schools not to mention hospitals both children's and regular hospitals. The list goes on. like someone said, if the USE can do it we can too but we r not ready.

MajorrBison Thanks for your comment, however please understand my post wasn't at all to be taking literal. I am very much aware that Africa is an under developed country that has begun to take steps to improve their country, which I think it is amazing. I said that it was richer than American in appearances and in people because after living here all my life, I have encountered first hand some of the most ignorant, horrible, cold people. In Africa I did not see anything like that, all I saw were people helping each other, children excited to learn and communities uniting to help a person out. So yest Africa is under developed but it is in act richer than America. Yes, America is amazing and I am blessed to be here but because we are socially broken down by race, gender, sex and religion sometimes we forget that at the end of the day we are human. This is where I was coming from. Hope I helped you understand were I was coming from. GB!

Ghana... I said. Ghana is doing much better than the rest of Africa. They have embraced capitalism, a much better system. Any country will do as equally as good with the same level of economic freedom. The rest of Africa does poorly with economic freedom. Botswana, have done well because of economic freedom. South Africa has done well because of the Boer Tribe but heading in the wrong direction because of the commies.

Just returned from a trip to Ghana. Have been there for almost 5 weeks. It is good to be proud, but hey, the're are really lots of lots of challenges for Ghana to cope with. Not a small Accra Mall and some roads around Accra are enough to promote your countrey. Sea pollution, an overcrowded Accra, and only few (too) rich people.Bad plumming, lack of water, lots of broken houses. Very bad infrastructure. I hope the new Government will change for the best! So many things are just worn out, need to be repaired. So lots of work can be done. Good healthcare though. Congrats for that.

marjan hendriks Let us have in mind that most African countries, like Ghana, only had a chance to start developing their countries after the Colonists were done looting and oppressing the African people and, at their sweet time, decided to grant independence in the mid 1950s to 60s. We Africans know that we have a long way to go to catch up with western countries, afterwards it took the so called developed countries hundreds of years, including killing, looting and exploiting native Africans, Americans, and Indians (India) to get to where they are today. So yes, the "two half-way decent malls" mark a development for a country trying to heal from the wounds of colonialism and still fighting the up hill battle against modern (economic) colonialism and multinational corporate vampires.

Oh gosh, the footage at the beginning just drives me nuts. Thanks for showing the side people don't see :) I just made a similar video, but I didn't include any of that stereotyped poor footage because I feel like posting stuff like that doesn't help the country in the long run. The best way to improve the Ghanaian economy is to show the good parts, which will then encourage investment.

The problem with your theory is summed up in one word "corruption" sure one gets investment but how much goes into the pockets of the corrupt. After all Ghana,s favorite son was not named Mr 10% for nothing & Mr Rawlings who is a very wealthy man still refuses to disclose the source of his wealth. That said I love Ghana but she can be a hard mistress.

Esi Magic TV I agree with you ,their are two size to every story. I have looked at the housing development in Ghana and I am just curious who are they building these new homes for because from what I have seen the average American could not even afford to buy one so how are the people who live there going to buy these new homes that from all appearances are very expensive. I have inquired quite a few times in the comment section on property in Ghana and the prices of the new homes that are being built there and have never received a answer.

I know a Jamaican brother that moved to Ghana from England he describes Ghana as "The land of gold and diamonds beautiful in its features, generous in her kindness to her children who were taken from her" I agree with him. I am sorry I don't agree with you; why should we waste time begging these people to like us? I really don't care what white people think of Ghana again their opinion means absolutely nothing to me, if you don't believe me take a trip to Ada Foah its near Afloa and you'll see what I'm talking about. On the way plenty of wild edible plants Ada has good beaches. There are allot of rich whites living there and I don't see them packing their bags and leaving anytime soon..

The school made did their best to convince me otherwise, and made sure I took all the 'necessary' vaccines and medicines. The trip turned out quite well, had no idea Nigeria was that developed! I hardly think it is praise worthy to aspire to a paradigm that is not efficient, isn't organic and may be an input to environmental degradation. The worst thing that could happen is Ghana or the rest of Africa is start seeing things like Westerners do.

the only american fast food restaurant I know in Ghana is KFC which is in the marina mall. The last time I had saw that DC-10 (which is in front of the Marina mall) it was just in the normal Ghana airways livery.

Shopping malls do little in terms of more happiness though, having enough to live simply with a rich life of family; friends; connection to inner heart/soul are what truly can fulfill a human being.

Those criticising this do not really have any point. The author was merely presenting another narrative which is different from hungry kids in rags and flies all over their faces. It says, yes, we have a lot of problems but a lot of changes, chances and modernity too.

See! African Americans!!! This (among other African countries) is our beacon of hope. Stop hanging on to the idea that we can/will fully integrate and assimilate into white American society. That society was meant for us to be on bottom. We are and have always been a great people and it is time that we come together now! and invest in our own people and development rather than a Nike shoe. Peace.

Nice video trying to counter balance western perceptions of Ghana or Africa. But that was just a small part of Accra. How about the rest of Ghana( The bigger portion ) ? That's what they see on TV, and wanna focus on. Westerners don't want care about the small improvements in the city. Let's focus on the 90% too.

I'm sure Ghana is a nice country to visit and I will do so in the near future, but this video didn't convince me at all. When you write "nice beaches" and showing only the sea, it seems like you have something to hide. And in a promo video of about 4 minutes showing half of the time a shopping mall, isn't quite convincing neither for guys. A missed opportunity.
