Great video. I’m 3 blocks in with Pitre and this was the first thing we added to my deadlift. Such a significant change that’s already paying off

Great video as always! But I have a question, that I think is somewhat related to this. I recently competed here in Brazil, at state qualifiers. I missed my 3rd deadlift close to lockout (I pull conventional). Many coaches at the meet told me to work on hip extension strength, which I've been doing (hip thrusts, sumo deadlifts, hamstring work, block pulls, etc.). But one coach suggested that I try out locking my knees a little earlier than my hips. He said this would help avoid the bar getting caught on my quads at lockout (I'm in the -120kg). I've recently seen one of Blaine Sumner's video where he suggests the same thing. I was wondering what your thoughts were on this. Glad to see you back to making content!

So for conventional I’m not usually going to tell someone to TRY to lock the legs out before the hips. That works well enough for many with sumo, but usually leads to more issues with conventional. Especially in regards to having to forcibly use the back to finish the lift if the legs lock early. Now some people do have a little lapse between legs and hips locking, but that’s not usually intentional. My suggestion is to figure out what’s happening between your start point after you wedge/are about to initiate the press of the floor and when you’re getting close to lock out. My GUESS would be there is some type of position being lost with heavier weight that is causing the lockout to be more difficult/get stuck on the quads.

Great video man!! When you say 3 you were doing 3 week blocks does that include the deload week ?
@TheSwolefessor Жыл бұрын
No Deload weeks since I do wave loading. So it’s legit just week 1, 2,3 and then repeat
