With a fence, wall or poles at the side, a cycling pass effectively becomes narrower, even if the tape says 2 m. We need to make sure to keep clear of these.

The infrastructure seriously varies depending on where you are. Personally, I think the cycling infrastructure is ok to good so far, but if we want to become car-lite through bicycles, we need to look at Amsterdam and other Dutch cities

How do you assess whether a cycling path or footpath is pass or fail?
@tehsiewdai3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the standards are based on URA's Walking and Cycling Guide

While the widths you measured do seem unsatisfactory for 2-way traffic, at least they are all well-protected from motor vehicles by nice, vertical green buffers despite the overall space constraint. I personally find this much more desirable than a full-width path riding against nothing but a strip of grass or just straight up curb, which is the case in where I live. I've actually looked at Streetviews in Singapore before trying to figure out how wide the side paths are but the distortions made it very difficult. Now I can know at least a little bit despite being on the other side of the Earth! Thanks!

Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan.

Still better than Indonesian. The bike lanes here are used for parking spaces.
