I think this is something more Singaporeans should do more often. I have one or two relatives who might think pottering as "wah, you so much free time ah?", but I don't think so. One thing money can't buy is time and relaxation. If life is all about the money grind, by the time you're too frail, you'll regret having never had time to try out these things in life. Life is very short after all. Keep up with these amazing posts!

just when will the singapore government understand that cars don't work especially for such a high density country and reclaim most of the space taken for roads, they have so much potential to become the best car alternative country with bike and mobility lanes

i've just moved to singapore, been here almost two weeks and feel like i haven't explored as much as i could. Back home, I would walk everywhere and find little footpaths through quiet areas, this makes me want to truly get out and explore again

I love it how you find those smaller roads to cycle through... I just go on the big ones and hope not to die. Bukit Timah Rd is my daily commute 🥲

Ah yes... Kotono Grace. No wonder the word pottering sounded so familiar. lol. Would love to potter around Singapore one day. Running out of roads here in Penang. haha

Great video (again) 11:53 This is an excellent habit and a crucial skill for road cyclists. Looking back repeatedly ensures you're aware of approaching vehicles, minimizing the risk of collisions and signals to oncoming drivers that you intend to move across the lane. This often prompts them to slow down and provide ample clearance, enhancing your safety significantly."

This is my favourite thing to do. I rode around Melbourne for hours without a destination or goal. I just follow the paths wherever they go. Cycling around provides great people watching and gives me connection to the city.

haha these videos bring a kind of chill vibe man. I enjoy cycling around Singapore as well and after living abroad for a year and a half, I am so glad to be back to explore Singapore on bike and seeing things with new eyes!

nice video work. have you looked at getting a helmet mount or chest mount for the cam? is safer. you may even look for one that has face tracking and will pan as you bike around.

A lovely chill video. And congratulations on surviving the Nicholl Highway/Guillemard Road/Mountbatten Road ocean of asphalt! What a horrific and unnecessarily huge junction it is.

Old soul, or slow soul, thank you for this video. I'd never heard of this term "pottering", but local "backyard explorations" on 2 wheels was certainly one of the fave things to do in my twenties as well. Ps. The marine pde and post guillamard/ stadium facing roadways are some of the least bike friendly. There are alternative (mostly) off road routes, depending on direction of travel.

I never lived long-term in humid tropical climate - how is it cycling and doing outdoor sports there? Whenever I'm cycling during humid conditions (before thunderstorm) I always feel rather tired and on the verge of vomiting or passing out with a slight headache. Am I not hydrated enough or am I just not adapted for humid tropical climate like the one Singapore has? (I'm caucasian male living in coastal German city)

Crossing the PIE on a bicycle at Bedok Reservoir is a terrible experience though with 4 traffic lights to navigate. I might try to cross at Bedok North next time.

@barrickwong8 күн бұрын
Obviously don't do it on a sunny day at noon lah, do it on cloudy days and rest whenever you feel too warm. How else do you think people play basketball/football in Singapore? Just tahan lor. You just get used to it as you get fitter.
@LuxConcordiae8 күн бұрын
When you cycle, there is wind After you cycle, take a shower Don't wear long sleeves Walk outside already hot also. Sometimes cycling is better too. If you have a sedentary lifestyle, only wanna be lazy at home, don't begrudge others if they wanna cycle lol
@LaustinSpayce8 күн бұрын
It was a bit rough at first but once you get used to it you get used to it. Just don’t wait at red traffic lights in the middle of overbuilt junctions - like you see the uncle in the video waiting in the shade a bit before the signal. The gov really needs to put shade close to pedestrian crossings. Not everyone is in an air conditioned box!

i totally see you going working in some job you totally hate , just to make the money to get a good bike and gear and then cycle around the world for 3 years , that would be the ultimate pottering
