When my dad died, he was in bed at home and my mom was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. My dad was 63 and only had the flu. This was 3 years before the Covid-19 scare. Anyway my parents hound dog Jo was in the back yard when according to my mom he started to bark like crazy and wouldn’t stop. She said the sound of his barking was different because she thought it was a different dog. She looked outside and only saw Jo and he was barking at my parent’s bedroom window in a panic state. My mom went to check on my dad and saw that he wasn’t breathing. She called 911 and the ambulance came and got him to the hospital. They couldn’t save him and he died from respiratory failure from the flu he had. Our dog knew he was gone when it happened and even barked to tell my mom.

It’s pretty interesting to know wolves can sense when an animal is in distress or old and dying. They do the same thing when hunting herds of elk, they instinctively know which one in the group is the weakest or ill and vulnerable. Sort of reminds me of how dogs can often sense if something is wrong with their owners emotionally or even physically or medically-like how a lot of them have been able to tell beforehand if someone was about to have a stroke or heart attack. There are even dogs that are trained and used to sniff out cancer cells in people. It’s widely believed that dogs can literally smell a person’a DNA, and distinguish how healthy an individual is.

It also seemed like they were doing a kind jester by letting his friend leave and waiting for him to pass. I think they knew that it was happening and that a fight would be a waste of energy, and the bull knew they wouldn’t hurt his friends if he let them eat him. Could be wrong tho

I saw something similar in a different documentary, i think it was called "Wolf battlefield". a pack sniffed some old tooth rot of some leaves and was able to track the scent, which lead them to a very old, dying moose. They waited for the moose to collapse and die, then ate it. The moose was miles away. it was amazing.

The bull was most likely emitting the smell of sickness and death. The wolves picked up on it from miles away as they have extremely strong smell sensors. Wolves are intelligent enough to wait until the sickness, old age or an injury weaken an animal enough to reduce potential risk of injury for themselves.

Rayer Scarpensael wydm that’s exactly what a wolfs nose is supposed to do, they can smell up to 1.75 miles away and hear like 6 miles in the forest and 10 in open fields, they probably already smelt him before the hunt and was looking for him didn’t spot/smell him again till sometime during the chase and waited for him to die
@ToxicVaccines_HivHoax
@ToxicVaccines_HivHoax 4 жыл бұрын
@@rayerscarpensael2300 - If you hunt for a living you get surprisingly good at it. Think of a rotting tooth in a human. You can smell that in a person if they get close enough, no matter what is going on around you. This is how these wolves smelled rotting sickness on the bull from far away. A wolf's sense of smell and the ability to decode the meaning of each smell, is almost infinitely better than ours.

Experienced predators can always tell when something is wrong with an old animal. It seems the alpha male wolf Storm is one of those predators, judging from the way he raced past the bison herd in hot pursuit of the elderly bull. The fact that the bull was away from the protection of its herd was a significant factor in telling Storm that his prey was not far off. It's also likely that a dying animal gives off a particular scent that a seasoned hunter like Storm can pick up.

Watching they slipping a herd up and you can see that they are looking for that unhealthy or injury one to get, I hate seeing them in a pack of a couple of wolves it’s hard for them to be successful at catching their prey and making them at a higher and more at risk of targeting livestock

How did the wolves know the bison was old

The same way they can tell if a bison or other prey is young, perhaps by movement, activity and body structure, still though, this video proves that some animals are more than just blood gushing predators, but perceptive in their own way.

Smell, movement, look - basically their instinct tells them. They're made to sort out and finish the old, weak and sick. That's the balance of nature. Nothing is wasted and if predators don't have to take a risk, they won't.

A predator such as a wolf has a super-power-like instinct for weakness. It is part of the survival mechanism and that is why they usually go for the calves etc. So there were many signs they perceived that the old buffalo was weak. Signs that we wouldn't have a clue about yet to a predator canine that has survived for millions of years is as second nature as you being able to scratch your nose. The first sign was two lone buffalo away from the herd. There's your first sign they caught onto. Then when close and sensing that the buffalo wasn't interested or bothered being able to run away, there's another sign. Dogs are body language experts and if it is body language and behavior that promises a meal they are going to be 10 times more perceptive of the situation. Another brilliant skill a predator has is anticipation and instant anticipatory calculations. They need to be able to predict the trajectory of what they are chasing. With my dogs, I used to throw a ball up on a roof at an angle and as soon as it left my hand they would run a few yards into position and the ball would literally bounce off the roof directly into their mouths. Was amazing to watch. Another one of my dogs could tell the instant the ball left my hand whether it was going to go over the roof or not. She was either on her way to the other side of the building or not and was right 9 times out of 10. Millions of years of predatory skill. It is a superpower we will never fully understand the powers of.
