As someone who worked with Boomers, Gen Z and Millennials I originally didn't understand why the younger generation was "quite quitting", but then when I saw how management didn't offer them any bonuses or extra vacation time in exchange for them working over and above what was required I then understood and agreed with them. One young girl said to me, "Why should I give my additional time and effort just so the CEO can get an extra 20% performance bonus and all I get is my hourly rate and maybe a thank you!" She stated her time is valuable and giving it away for free to an employer who doesn't appreciate her is not going to happen!

The time during the pandemic was a blessing for me. I have a labor intensive job. I was very very burned out at the time, in pain, and sick. Because everything was slow, it gave me a chance to “rest” both mentally and physically.

I know the feeling. I gave it my all for a industry. Like the job, loved the people. I got scolded at for not being perfect. They expected me to work a T1 grade when I was just an apprentice T0. Got stressed out and went 3 months with no sleep. Got burnt out pycologicly. Lost my job. And ended up needing time in the hospital. Then found out i have Psychosis and schizophrenia due being burnt out. Now I am not allowed to drive and am working on my Dad's farm to pass the time. Not allowed to get a job. I don't see myself as a burden but am defiantly burnt out of societal perfectionism in work with a choke chain micromanagement. One day my job offered doing what job you would like to do. I got burnt out of one job, not wanting to make mistakes for my own personal needs, and switched to another. Just to get the old lecture about being a poor worker for being difficult about my own performance. I honestly don't get it even after working for 20 years.

I work from home full time and I love it! I can finally poop in peace without everyone in the office knowing how long I've been in the restroom or trying to come in when I'm in there. I can actually attend meetings (virtually) without worrying about involuntary internal gas sounds coming from my guts. I do the exact same job that I was doing in the office, but now I do it from the comfort of my home. The employer gets what they want from me. I get what I want from them. Everybody wins. That's a good thing.

All of 2021 and 2022, I worked a "hybrid" position, only had to go into the office 1 or 2 days a week. But for me it was a long commute for those 1 or 2 days (my office was in an area I really did not want to move to...too far from family, friends, good social life). In late 2022, I acquired a fully remote position. Life is good now. I hate offices.

Well I work from home currently 100% of the time and have found one or two days at the office and WFM the rest 3 or 4 days might be a good balance to go. Working at home all time can feel isolated and it also blurs between leisure and work time.

I took part in the "Great Resignation" and now I am in Tokyo and having an absolute blast. Covid allowed me to take a break from work and really reflect on my career choice. I was able to realign my career goals with my personal goals. I left a job that paid $156,000/year and took a different job that only paid $70,000 but allowed me to travel all over the world, bring my family, and gives me a much better sense of purpose. Money isn't everything. Time is the only resource that can not be replaced. I am spending my time much better now. Spending more time with my wife and my kids. Covid was the best thing that happened to our family (as horrible as that sounds).

Most bosses are happy when their employees are miserable. They don't care in the slightest that it's more economic (even for their own profits) to have people working from home rather than operating their office space paying higher utility bills or even downsizing to either save money or make rent money for other people or businesses, and then there's the commuting time that could be made to good working use

This is really REALLY happening everywhere around the world. People are tired of commuting and spending most of the time of their day in an office. If they can do their job perfectly from home, what's the point of making them go back to the office? There's also this very wrong belief that people are more productive at an office than at home and I think, for many people (I'm not saying all), it's entirely the opposite. People want work/life balance.

There are others who can completely do their job from anywhere with an internet connection. There is no "one size fits all" approach to this. Its good that there are options. I work for a regional CPA firm. It's really depressing to stay in the office if you ask. I'm definitely more productive at home as I don't need to worry about lunch, commute and sharing the bathroom with coworkers! The most important is we barely talk to each other but teams so what's the point to make us sit in the office uncomfortably?!

Public practice business model has not changed since middle ages and they expect accountants to grind out busy season through crazy hours for literally half of the year. I wonder why all of these news outlets look at it like the employees are doing less and walking away when instead they have been doing the job of 2 or 3 people all along. Do not blame economics on employees anymore and start blaming it on employers and staffing shortages, which is what the problem really is about. Why quiet quitting, IMHO, has become so popular is because in the US you're expected to give 110% at every job. And many, many years ago this meant that you had q solid opportunity for advancement and the company took great care of those A+ employees. Unfortunately, over time most companies don't care about their harder working employees. There's 50000 more on application websites waiting to take your position. So yhe opportunity tgat used to be there has shrunk greatly. People have noticed and are pretty much aski"why would i give so much to a company that carrs so very little about me, if at all?".

Leaving on good terms is horse puckey. Many jobs will mark you as Not Eligible for Rehire on a whim. It is totally up to the company. I am in HR, and one company I worked at made ANYONE who resigned for a better job as not eligible for rehire. Another would mark you are not eligible for rehire if you resigned without 30 days of notice. If you are going to leave, just leave. Most likely they will not rehire you anyway.

Modern and upcoming house architecture should incorporate this in their design. This will also help improve children and parents bonding time. The issue is not rocket science, the constant rising demands for efficiency and efficacy in the work place over decades has culminated in the "robotization" of people and in burnout. Take for example Bezos' warehouses, his managers (under his leadership) count every single second of the employees time in order to make the operation more efficient, up to a point where people make their necessities in water bottles. Unfortunately this doesn't lead to better salaries for such employees, it just makes more profit for company owners. So not only do people work more than previous decades, they also earn much less in real terms (when adjusted for inflation). Think about it, how is it possible that even though productivity in general has increased over the years salaries have remained stagnant? do surplus productivity go off into space? Where is all that extra productivity going? You know the answer, just look at income disparity charts.

I'm Burned out and been burned out since 2008. Financially my life is getting worse . Boomers lives gotten easier and easier. Millinials lives are getting harder and harder. I'm a millinial male with adhd and I am tired! I can't keep up. I don't ask for much, all I need is a studio apartment, used car, and cel, THATS IT!!! I don't need a fancy house, nice ride, or infinite hot girlfriends, im a introvert anyway. All I want is a simple quite life, but I can't even get that. My rent is going up every year, my car insurance doubles every 6 months, and price for basic needs are high. I CAN'T EVEN LIVE A BASIC LIFE WITH OUT IT BEING F**KED UP! And I'm not a greedy person at all. I'm a strong advocate of the Maslow hierarchy of needs, ALL I NEED IS Physiological needs and Safety needs and I'll be happy, The belonging and esteem can wait. There is a flaw in all of their argument. It does not take into account the other side i.e. how businesses/bosses will reaction. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. The is about driving down wages and benefits.

Companies need to be careful about requiring “hybrid” work. coming in once or twice a week after working from home for a few years is a huge lifestyle change and not necessary. If a company wants their employees to come to the office, they want to micro manage…..

corporations have been trying to squeeze as much as they can out of people. and people are tired of it. low level and middle management can be really toxic and staff don't want to deal with this any longer. people can't afford costs of living on the salaries/wages offered while companies have ridiculous expectations and want someone with 5 yrs of experience for entry level jobs, but offer minimal pay, benefits, and toxic cultures. corporations are constantly laying staff off, not just due to the pandemic, but wonder why staff have no loyalty or low engagement. people are tired of supporting the dreams and costs of a completely separate class of people who are out of touch with the lives of typical citizens/staff. want engagement? do these things: root out toxic micromanaging "leaders", give people the freedom to do their best work and contribute, pay living wages, don't do things like demand doctor's notes for a day off, offer affordable health insurance, don't support toxic rumor mongering in the workplace... it's not hard. be decent to people.

This confuses me. What kind of jobs do people have that they can do remotely? Even jobs where majority of my labor was in front of a computer screen I was still needed in person for different things. I also think it’s understated how common it is to want to have a workplace that is not at home, it’s definitely a psychological thing. I digress, what industries have people working from home. I can imagine some, insurance, some of IT, software, allied healthcare. I guess logistically I can see lots of jobs that can be done remotely but I just can’t imagine there are many important jobs done like this, with exceptions of course, like software development. People complain of needing to be in an office and I fully understand the struggles but I also understand the benefits, organization, collaboration, and not to mention social interaction. I think the big thing i wonder about though is training. The money is in highly skilled jobs which require education, which could come from college or university, but especially training which I would not recommend doing remotely. I am not talking about traditional blue collar but more so high tech jobs. AS level, or certification level. Some of these jobs give you months of training. So please tell me, what do you do for remote work, and how long did you train for, what education have you received as well?

Denying needs is unhealthy and so is outsourcing feedback and evaluation under exclusion of those affected.... A lot of these experts in the clip are so far out of touch and will defend their attitudes and authority, and that, in my humble view is a huge source of the problem.

Because the new generation has more life (world skills). We know that we need to live to work. Not the US version of work to live. you would think that since we have computers and robots doing half the job our work lives should be easier. But it isn't. There is still more work (office). 8 hour work is stupid. Depending on where you live, you can have two hour commutes. Where is there a time to live. your day can be basically 12 hours work days (include commute to and from and lunch time at work.) We know our mental, health, and family is important.
