Golf instruction and joining an indoor golf simulator membership made my golf game worse. I thought it would be the opposite. It made me so mechanical with swing thoughts and data. As soon as I quit both and started going back to an outdoor range to practice, my game recovered and got better.

This was a (golf)life saver. Thank you. From shooting my worst round yesterday since i began with golf, I tried today with this mentality. Shaved off 20 strokes, and had a blast!

This hits home! Been going way to down the rabbit hole on swing lessons and mechanics, getting worse and worse results overtime. Even started shanking! The one good thing to come of it is, I understand my tendencies in my swing deeply now. However, I'm now on the journey to let go all of the mumbo jumbo on the tee box and just commit to swinging at the target and accept the result.

Start watching Golf Sidekick. Really zone in on the course management aspect, and making decisions based on your strengths, and really understanding course and lie of the ball. With the skill set you currently have, there is no reason for you to not be in the single digit handicap range. I walked away from my range pass at its last renewal time, started playing courses regularly, and only practicing on the chipping/putting greens instead of range time. Dropped an average of 10 strokes in a couple months just doing this.

This one is an eye opener, I have used the Myers Briggs formula with work for years but have never considered adapting this to golf. Any more videos etc planned for different types of people. I have watched your videos on an off for some time. I know what to start again from the beginning of this journey.

I can relate a lot to what you are saying because it looks like we have a very similar neurology. I've just taken the test and I think I am going to follow through with their course. We have similar issues with the game of golf. Thank you for making this video. Happy swinging :)

@@ErndogGolf So it came back as INFP, but then adjusted to ENFP. I go back and forth between the two. I am introvert, but golf is an extrovert activity for me, which I think explains both results.

I’ve played for 30+ years and take lessons 1-3 times per season. I learned quite a bit via Zach in terms of the push draw for the driver. Not sure that is the best option for irons. I have played shot shapes on the course for years and work on form on the range. Generally, I’ve found hitting a fade with my irons is the best options for my consistency. The best benefit of your lessons with Zach is knowing where your face is at during different points of the swing which should allow you to shape your ball as needed on the course. Always best to leave mechanics at the range and just play golf on the course. Thanks for the channel.

Hi , Toby from South Africa here . I can 100% resonate . Just got back into golf and obsessed with all the mechanics, got a mat and Garmin sim . From outside swing looked like it hit all the marks but on a round way to in my head . Then had moment where I have maybe one swing thought but swing free, put free , chip free of results and everything relaxed and scoring from 85-95 to 78-84 range . Could never understand why on range of hit my target 9/10 times but when I played I’d hit 30% greens. Not I’m hitting 50% greens and is game changer to lower scores . All the best 👍

Feeling you dog. Did GolfTec last winter and game was slow to start this Spring. I was much more knowledgeable about my game but you play it on a course not by the numbers on a Foresight. I am having more fun now knowing I can rip off a string of pars and not getting dejected by a bogey here and there. Play on!

I feel you on that whole thing about getting obsessed with data and technique. I had to stop using my Garmin R10 when I practice at home because I end up chasing numbers instead of actually doing my feels and drills. But glad you're back and I'll definitely check out MGT! Very interested to see what type I am 😅

I think your all the better for going down the rabbit hole, and building a swing, and then forgetting and letting the swing you built take over. I have had several range phases where it ruined my game. Fixed by only allowing myself to play. Congrats on getting married!

fwiw, I prefer to see the playing. I almost ignore instructional videos on YT because they are so specific to the person , they're tailored. I'd love to see more playing/course management as that can apply more to me.

The timing here is kind of funny. I was taking lessons every 2-4 weeks for 1.5 years. In April I finally decided it was getting too frustrating to always be focusing on and trying to make changes. I’ve just been playing and not stressing over form. It’s honestly been a fun summer and I’ve put up some decent scores. I’d like to get back to swing work at some point, but it’s nice to just go out and wack a ball around without setting all these expectations of where my game should be
@ErndogGolf5 ай бұрын
Glad I’m not along here! I agree, I’ll work on swing stuff this winter, but I want to take full advantage of the summer hours and play as much as possible!

I know you are on this journey and you are meant to have all this going on in your head, but sometimes we forget that the most important thing is to enjoy the game, because if you're not, then what's the point. Go out there, relax, just don't overthink your shots and accept whatever happens. There are loads of golfers out there who would love to play as well as you do.
@ErndogGolf5 ай бұрын
I love that, and couldn’t agree more. It’s sometimes hard to be okay with bad scores because of all the work I’ve been putting in, but MGT has really helped me stay more in the zone throughout the round

I'm in the same situation. , can't get it off the tee the rest of my game is great . One book to read is every shot must have a purpose . Removes all technique from playing on the course . Get in the shot 1:23
