@Jay Chen, you should start interviewing SE Asians and ask them about their experience here in Taiwan. I bet you get a very different feeling from them than from us privileged westerners and East Asians. And do a trip to other cities. Taipei is great. I fricking love it there but my experience of Taiwan was very different once I moved to Taichung.

Exactly he has videos specifically about Indians' or Southeast Asians' experiences separately from other foreigners, which is great. However, these more general videos about living in Taiwan or rating Taiwan are asking exclusively White people, and that is not right.

I live in Miaoli County, which is a beautiful place to reside once you earn a certain amount of money since Taiwan is relatively cheaper than most European countries. Foreigners usually earn more than locals, and most people here are friendly, whether you are in the city or countryside. However, dealing with the Taiwanese legal system can be a nightmare, especially for foreigners. Finding an apartment, opening a bank account, getting a phone contract, buying a car, or getting a loan is not easy, as locals are usually more trusted than foreigners. Public transportation is not the best option here. I prefer using my scooter or car, especially since it can be difficult to move around without one, except for Taipei or other major cities, where public transportation is more developed. In new buildings and apartments, the kitchens are usually tiny, and some don't even have a kitchen. Eating out is often more affordable than cooking at home if you are only one or two people. The natural landscape is breathtaking, with mountains, beaches, and cities all located within easy reach of each other. One downside, however, is the unsightly power poles and buildings that dominate the urban areas. Despite this, you eventually get used to it.

到臺灣的銀行辦事，現在不只是外籍人士，本國人要開戶一樣至少需要半小時以上和一堆證件。聽說以前臺灣被國際防洗錢機構點名，為了摘除這個惡名而做了很多努力；另外近年來越來越厲害的詐騙應該也是影響銀行審核用戶的原因之一。不知道受訪的這些外國朋友們，除了臺灣，有在其他國家銀行開戶的經驗？希望能聽聽他們的經驗談，或者比較臺灣的銀行跟母國或第三國的差異比較。

It took me over two hours to open an account once I finally found a bank. Everyone kept saying no no no because my ARC was a professional gold card and that was too new and different for anyone to want to deal with.

外國人的比較可能沒想到外國人在自己的「母國」開戶一定簡單，但對他們來說台灣是外國呀！對待外國人開戶肯定需要更多證明

我跟格子襯衫的大哥有同感。在台灣要自己天天下廚有點困難，有時候算起來比外出吃飯還貴，而且還要有做飯畢竟有前置作業跟後續收尾，所以外食比較便宜真的很怪？！賣場的價格相對於國外也的確是偏貴，尤其是牛奶真的是貴翻，幾乎可以說我去過的國家裡，台灣的牛奶絕對是數一數二貴的.....

If you don’t have a kitchen in Taipei, maybe you can try to join the local cooking group which people gathering for cooking or sharing food in the weekend. That’s a good chance to use other one’s house kitchen 😂

If you came from a much underdeveloped or overly crowded places such as the Philippines or Vietnam , you will like Taiwan.

就是在西方常會有那種一見如故，一不見就不聯絡的那種友情。在台灣，一但友誼建立起來，就算換了工作，搬了家，你們還是朋友，還是常說話，在很多英語系國家不是這樣，混熟很快，但當你離開了那個場域，友誼淡化的速度也很快。

Is taiwan safe in terms of earthquake? Since its highly earthquake prone? Also if i want to move to Taiwan with my 4 year old kid then how is the education system there? Do they provide education in English?

I feel like it’s better for you to put your child in an international school. Firstly, though bilingual school do teaches you English but the classmates are definitely 90% Taiwanese, which I assume they would speak Chinese to each other pretty much all day, unless they are in an English class. Secondly, in an international school it is easier for foreigners to make friends, and social is really important for a good childhood, so as international school has people around the world and also Taiwanese students, it just makes social life more comfortable I think. Plus you can also learn Chinese (which is important for living in Taiwan, if you want a really good social life). Though I never studied in a local Taiwanese school myself but I feel like there would be a chance where social exclusion of foreigners will happen if your child is not fluent in mandarin, and bullying is a huge problem in Taiwanese local schools. However, since your child is 4 years old I don’t think your child would encounter too much difficulties with coping with Taiwanese kids. And as he/she is young, your child should catch up some Chinese really quickly with the mandarin speaking environment. Also Taiwanese education can be seen as a bit stressful comparing to some of western country’s so it’s really up to your preference. And again international school would have much a relax and diverse education and globally recognized education ( such as IB, Cambridge,) but I have to say international schools is really rare in the case of diversity. Not much British international schools and mostly are American schools which only accept Americans. So in terms of international schools for foreigners , Taiwan is definitely not the best choice in Asia. Additionally it’s super expensive!!! Comparing to south East Asian countries like Malaysia, Thailand, they provide much more international schools with cheaper prices and better English speaking environments as it is not as homogeneous as Taiwan. Though if you insist to come to Taiwan then yeah bilingual is a choice. You should do more research and contact the school administration though. To make sure that the school you are looking meets your standards and expectations. I wish you can find the perfect school for your child!!!
