Great video with a few mistakes. Jurin joined AVEX artist academy at age 14. Jurin, Amy and Airi were part of AVEX artist academy all stars and Shorty. Hinata is half Japanese. XGALX was using YGs training facilities and they were NOT trained by YG. Also most pre debut videos of them practicing are at AVEX artist academy in Tokyo. Chisa was not with another label before xgalx she was with Kansai Collection Entertainment which is a modeling, dance and acting agency. She then went to Tokyo and joined AVEX artist academy. Juria joined AVEX artist academy as a special student. Juria and Kokona were known at the academy as the prodigy students. Also Jurin was not a semi pro but she was a pro snowboarder at age 12. At the time she held the record of being the youngest to go pro. I believe a few years ago a boy went pro at 11.

I'm an old skool OG music aficionado. I've seen 1000s of groups come & go over the decades. XG is just different. They have something unique & special that's hard explain unless you experience them on your own & go down that XG rabbit hole like millions of others have. Their mix of ultra level raw talent (rap, vocals & dance), pure charisma, magnetic aura & genuine personalities makes them true superstars. "Shooting Star" & "Left Right" were both huge global iconic hits in 2023. If they can just pull off a crazy global viral type song like Cupid, XG will be literally be launched into the stratosphere guaranteed. All i know is if you have not discovered XG yet you are seriously missing out big time. Just watch their MVs for Left Right, XG TAPE #2 GALZ XYPHER, Shooting Star & XG MOVE #3 to start you off. You will see what everyone is talking about.

That’s what I thought! In terms of “globalizing” Japanese music (especially J-pop) more, I have a feeling it’s going to be an uphill battle. The most well-known forms of J-entertainment across the globe have been games/anime/manga (for a LONG time), so it’ll be VERY difficult to shake off the “otaku” image. Part of the reason why such J-pop acts (like Perfume and BABYMETAL) have been gaining some traction outside of Asia is because they’re at least “otaku-adjacent.” They exist, but they're exceptions.

With how sophisticated the K-pop industry’s becoming, crossing over to Korea is (probably) the most realistic route for many Asian artists to achieve some kind of global success. Not going to name names (mostly), but there’s at least some J-pop acts (the ones not formed by Korean companies) who try so hard to be like their K-pop counterparts. Sorry, but trying to be who you’re not isn’t really the best way to go. Comparisons are inevitable. For XG (a fully Japanese girl group) at least, their chances of global success would be very unlikely without any “Kpop-ish” vibes. They were created by a former K-pop star (after all). P.S. I won’t deny that much of the Asian (especially Japanese/Korean) idol systems are based off the Motown model. However, it has gotten to the point where they became their own things.

I would love nothing more than for the kpop industry, knetz and inetz to stop gatekeeping the kpop formula and accept xg as a kpop group, but unfortunately they are simply not considered that way by the majority. They market themselves as a global group and sing in English. They're also Japanese. So even though they use the kpop formula of training, debut and comebacks, it's not enough for them to fall into kpop categories. Even if they promote in Korea and have a loyal Korean fanbase, the larger community go out of their way to tell people they are not kpop because they don't do official korean releases. Personally i find drawing this hard line in the sand on what is kpop and not is pointless because the genre is going to expand beyond that regardless. But I guess this issue is why Simon created the Xpop genre using XG. When you don't fall into just one category, you pioneer a new one!

XG according to SIMON “JAKOPS” Korean/Japanese born in the US, is Xpop. They were meticulously selected by Simon and he intentionally wanted to create a new genre concept “Xpop” so they would not be boxed in as a specific genre. I myself, listen to Qpop, Vpop, Tpop, Ppop and Mpop so I don’t get WHY it’s such a HUGE topic? This Japanese Global Group are ALL “ACES”. Please watch their Documentary Series “Xtra Xtra” and it explains the evolution of XG’s creation. This video was put so well together. There are some things that are a little off that their documentary on KZbin explains pretty well especially for each individual member. As for Hikaru she won’t be added to XG unfortunately. But she is however still apart of the XGALX label so any future projects with XGALX and depending on the future of KEP1ER we can be sure Hikaru will be apart of a new project of XGALX. One thing is certain Our Xtraordinary Girls along with their team XGALX and Simon continue to tear down these preconceived notions in the music industry especially the Kpop industry. Another note: ​ All members of XG are born in Japan and have signed with AVEX. The significance of XG receiving training in both Japan and Korea is noteworthy. It's important to recall that XAGALX was established in Japan back in 2017. While XGALX is currently managed by Simon Jakops, it remains supported by AVEX and is still affiliated with the label. While Hinata is of mixed Japanese and Korean heritage, she was born in Japan and is more fluent in Japanese than Korean, as indicated in her online biography. This is not meant to disregard Korean culture. I appreciate both JPOP and KPOP, but it's evident that Hinata's early activities were primarily centered around Japan. Similar to Harvey, she has limited proficiency in English, predominantly communicating in Japanese.

This is a comprehensive video to XG's background. Nice research 👍 About XG, it really doesn't matter to me if they are considered Kpop or not, but in my opinion, they are somewhat Kpop adjacent being that they were trained based on a korean idol system. Also, they sing their songs in English as they aim to relay their music to a global scale. I stan XG because I vibe with their music, concepts, member personalities. I don't discriminate based on where they're from or if their songs aren't korean(like what kind of bs is that?? - SO DUMB.) Was hoping this video would go a little deeper. My thoughts on XG: They sing in all english which may be the future with how well Fifty Fifty Cupid Twin version did. Singing in english also lets them perform on korean music shows, I think for public broadcasters they have prohibitions on singing in Japanese I could be wrong. Also its interesting in how XGALAX reverse engineering K-pop which includes XG doing the normal kpop group things like Korean variety shows, music shows and even korean staff but of course they label themselves X-pop. I've also noticed XG girls seem to have a lot of stamina, like to my knowledge none of the girls have been sick and missed time since debut. It could be also the company takes good care of their health? Also they all speak korean pretty well and their english is passable and Chisa has excellent pronunciation when singing in english. Finally its obvious Avex has put a ton of money into XG. All the music videos, high quality teasers, styling, clothes. I have to ask if XG is earning enough to equal the investment. Personally at the start like a lot of Koreans I was lukewarm about XG for political reasons but they really won me over. Even if they're not a K-pop group their songs are so good and KZbin content is so good. They really are the most well balanced group in K-pop/X-pop/whatever.

XG's management, spearheaded by Simon Jakops, CEO of XGALX, in collaboration with parent company AVEX, envisioned XG undergoing training in both Japan and Korea to refine their singing and dancing abilities. Despite initial discussions about singing in Japanese, the decision was made to use English, given the global and Korean market targeting. The emphasis was placed on pronunciation since none of the members are native English or Korean speakers. Simon and Katsumi aimed to create a unique genre, X-Pop, rather than fitting XG into the J-pop or K-pop categories.

NiZIU is different from XG. XG genre is not KPOP or JPOP. XG parent company is only AVEX and XGALX is under management of Simon, but label under AVEX. NiZIU is managed by a join company production between Sony entertainment and JYP entertainment. NiZIU can be JPOP/KPOP genre group. On Wikipedia is shows NiZIU is part of both genre. But not XG.

Both her and Rei were cut from the candidates and were sent to GP999, only Airi was given the 50/50 chance but was still cut from the line up during the last minute The 8th member you see on the OT8 version of XG's predebut dance practices is Airi (XG's first and former leader) not Hikaru

NiZIU is maanged by a join company production between Sony entertainment and JYP entertainment. NiZIU can be JPOP/KPOP genre group. On Wikipedia is shows NiZIU is part of both genre. But not XG
