All shipping companies stocks have gone up from this tussle in the red sea. Proving once again. War is good for business... Yep the Panama canal is beginning to fail. Partially why the US gave it back to Panama ages ago. It saw what was coming. China is working with South America on train corridors. I don't think high speed shipping trains will become a thing. I don't think it's economical enough vs just scheduling deliveries of goods. It's the same reason a container ship goes less than half the speed of an American air craft carrier. Economics.

Note: 60% of the estimated 377,000 deaths caused by the conflict in Yemen by the beginning of 2022 were attributed to malnutrition, poor access to healthcare, and contaminated water, according to UN estimates. It states that the fighting is known to have directly resulted in the deaths or injuries of over 11,000 children. One of the worst cholera outbreaks ever documented has also affected Yemen; since 2016, there have been 2.5 million suspected cases and roughly 4,000 deaths associated with the disease.

At that point, Palestinian civilian casualties had already become more than double Israeli civilian casualties. Despite a majority of US citizens wanting a ceasefire, you're correct that the US government has no intention of pursuing one. Hundreds of elected representatives, and I don't think even five will use the phrase "ceasefire" even after all this time and horror. If Joe as an Irish Catholic is still making false claims about the reality of the situation, even after the Pope called Israel's actions "terrorism" and after the representatives of Ireland disowned him for supporting it, I can't imagine anyone having positive expectations of White House decision-making.

For the Houthis, the very complicated ownership/management structure of maritime shipping and the fragility of the global economy are features, not bugs. If their goal is to force divestment from Israel, making it incredibly difficult to ship on the Red Sea without making incredibly explicit separation from Israel, will likely push at least some companies to completely cut ties, because they simply can't afford the alternatives.
@brock5373
@brock5373 3 ай бұрын
That is their goal. If you look at statements from Houthi leadership they said from the start the blockade will end when Israel stops their genocide in Gaza and they are still letting ships that are not headed for Israel to pass. I would look to sources of information on this that are not the US, because the US is the country that is still sending Israel weapons. They are framing them as pirates because if they acknowledged that the blockade will end when the genocide ends, American citizens will ask why the Biden admin is using their countries military to make sure a genocide does not stop.

If you would like a lesser known topic to make a video on, i recommend checking out the way the Sami people are being pushed to extinction by both the construction of wind and hydroelectric power, as well as ore mining. It's an interesting read
@GizzyDillespee
@GizzyDillespee 3 ай бұрын
What's to say? Nomadic migration and population density are mutually exclusive lifestyles. In the modern world, with our 8-10 billion mouths to feed, and apartments to heat, and cars to drive... even the Sami need snowmobiles and fuel, modern materials and tools now. There are fewer and fewer places where nomadic lifestyles are still feasible... partly because of human encroachment, but also climate change making their culture less applicable to their traditional habitat. You can already see where traditional ice crossings are no longer safe at the traditional times when they'd be used. The time to document their traditional practices has passed.

The world's population is only a generation away from receding dramatically. As for Wind Turbines, they're a child's solution to a grown up's problem, the answer has been around for over seventy years now, the science that dare not speak its brilliance- Nuclear. Regardless of how much you wish to see man as some kind of planetary parasite, we're just the dominant animal of the period- we are not an exception, nor is the weather, there have been far larger changes in temperature before the industrial revolution, the hubris of the self hating human sees one lifetime as a predictor- or just goes along with "Faultless Science" minus any knowledge of the "Tale Agreed Upon".

The middle east is more fractured than early 20th century Europe, but to be fair to everyone there for the most part; there's not been anything like the world wars that come out of Europe. Closest thing was 1948 and 1980 I'm not going to count anything the Americas were involved in. Most countries seem fairly stable except maybe Yemen they've had the Aden Emergency, NDF rebellion, Yemenite war of 1972 and 1979. South Yemen civil war in 1986. Civil war in 1994. Shia insurgency between 2004-2014. South Yemen insurgency 2009-2015. Ai Qaeda crackdown 2010-2015. Now the Yemen Crisis 2011 to today. That's a messy history.

@@ImenBen12 It's not so much the people or the individual countries in the middle east. It's more the politics. People have said for the last 20 years that if a third world war breaks out it will start in the middle east. You have the Americans supporting the Saudis and Israel. China has a growing influence and Russian ties there as well. The middle east just looks ready to boil over at any moment. But as I said hasn't really for the most part it's held itself together much better than Europe did with similar tensions between one and other. Any one of the tensions I mentioned before could spell trouble though. It just feels inevitable that a large scale war will spill out in the middle east at some point.

Terror attacks only work because the people doing it are able to use civilians as a shield. Attack civilians, then hide behind their own. So far, the world has condemned people who disregard the "safety" of that shield more than the people using it. Yemen is the land and country of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, Jesus, the son of the Virgin Mary. America hides that from the Western peoples, and Israel is the guardian of falsifying that. All the love from Happy Yemen, the original holy country of the Torah, not the one that America and Zionism forged. Happy Yemen, the country of love and mercy, and there is no danger of evil in the minds of those who visit history. Maria the Coptic factory and the place of Jesus’ birth in the Yemeni governorate of Dhamar, next to the red palm tree, and now the flags of the antichrist, the Freemasons, and the Zionists are demonizing Yemen. It is a dangerous lie. Yemen is the country of all the prophets. Search carefully and you will know the hidden truth.

might i ask you take a step back and an impartial look at what you are actually supporting? you are part of a military regime which exists only to uphold americas power. i understand war causes trauma for all parties involved, but that doesnt wipe away americas war crime ridden history, and the fact america is desperate to hold onto their power in our increasingly multipolar world. i dont ask you to desert your post if you are currently deployed, but once you have the option to get out of the military, please do so asap.

The correct title would probably be more like: How Israel and US policies (with backing of many nations) and violence against Palistinians are destabilizing the region and causing Houthis in Yemen to wreck the global economy by threathening shipping... or something.... bit of a mouthfull huh.

"the only link to israel was that the owner of the owner was an israel jew" so the only link was that it is owned by the target, you can dislike the action (as i am,) but very hard to not say it was a valid target according to the yemen rebels declared way of operation. ok, it is also a problem that under that you will find similar links to most ships going through that area.

When you think about it, any country controlling that strait has the potential to become a global superpower... As long as it can get its shit together and hold itself upright long enough to get firmly established and officially recognised as a country, and it wouldn't need any natural resources besides its geography and enough kit to defend it.

Kind of interesting how the UK develop the dragon fire laser as this is happening maybe to help defend ships from the cheap drones, (as it only cost £10 a shot to fire these lasers apparently) as a way of keeping costs low and defending lives and cargo? Just food for thought I dunno
