There are no guarantees in this business! BUT here's 10 tips to give you the best odds on getting a deer this year with your crossbow.
For Swa-hacker goodness, try coupon code BUNJIE2324 on swhacker.com and get 10% off your purchase of certain broadheads, including our favorite, the #251 3" 150 grainers!
This channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt exclusively with the crossbow. I love it and I aim to help you love it, too!
MY NEW BOOK IS HERE! The Death by Bunjie Crossbow Method is now available on amazon.com. amzn.to/3zJbAI0
Check out my first book! The Death by Bunjie Crossbow Story (Confessions of a Crossbow Hunter) is NOW AVAILABLE on Amazon.com! You can check it out here: amzn.to/2Peq4aC
Check out our website www.deathbybunjie.com and sign up for our FREE email newsletter--you can cancel at any time! Also, check out the Gear Page on deathbybunjie.com. I am not sponsored by anyone! But you can see what gear I like and don't like on that site. And if you buy from Amazon.com using one of those links, Death by Bunjie receives a small referral fee and you DO NOT pay more! How cool is that?

deathbybunjie
Bunjie (The O.B.) is a 2010 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow. After more than a decade of killing deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired. Enter Bunjie III (or Bunjie '21, Bunjie 3.0, The Slick Black Cadillac of Crossbows) a 2021 Scorpyd Deathstalker 420, the result of trying various models and looking at dozens of them online for characteristics I liked. It is, in fact, a gift from a Friend of Bunjie, which goes to show how important Friends of Bunjie are to this channel and what an impact they can have. Bunjie III is a testament to modern crossbows, producing over .7 slugs of momentum and almost 140 ft-lbs of kinetic energy with stock arrows--at nearly 400 fps!
Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. This crossbow was also a much appreciated gift from a Friend of Bunjie, and it changed Death by Bunjie forever by inspiring Genevieve to become a part of our story as a second-generation crossbow hunter, and it also convinced me there is a benefit to a newer, faster crossbow (see our 2020 Maryland Doe Hunt).
Again, I am not sponsored by these companies. I am sponsored by Friends of Bunjie! (I'm not asking for gifts whatsoever--please don't feel like you should send me stuff! But I do appreciate the support I've received over the years! I'm just trying to express my appreciation for that.)
This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere. A third album is in the works.
All Hail Bunjie!

I am a vertical bow hunter but love this channel. It's really nice to see you and your kid having so much fun together. Great people. Thank you for the content. I shoot swhackers as well and the blood trails are so much better than my fixed blades. I'm deployed overseas for this whole hunting season but plan to be back at it next year. I normally hunt in my home state of NJ but will be hunting New Mexico next year and am looking forward to the challenges the new landscape and scouting will bring. Edit: I love that you use your own music in these videos too!

Am I the only one who focused immediately on Bunjie’s excellent choice of shirt for this video, and obviously his love for great bands who made great music? Grand Funk is definitely one of those bands. As usual awesome video!!

You have good taste lol but seriously I love classic rock, Grand Funk Railroad was a little bit behind my time but every time I listen to them I just love their sound, great bass and drums, best in the business, paved the way for the rock of the '80s and Beyond

@@Deathbybunjie I’ll be 54 this October and I really thank my mother and father for raising me with the music they did. Grand Funk is one of my dad’s top three favorite bands in the world. They were both hippies and we all know how important music was/is to the hippies…lol😂. They always gave me 100% free range of the stereo, and all their albums. I grew up on all the 50,s 60’s and 70’s mainly, but your exactly right Bungie, it usually is the case where this era of music is a little bit behind the time for people our age (at lease I think we’re both really close in age?) So many times I’ve been around folks of my parents generation, and they’re always very surprised when I slap on Grand Funk, the Moody blues, Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, and of course I could never forget Yankee Militia, one of the best bands of our current era imo.👍🏻 So happy you and Genevieve got your Maryland tags filled, and I can’t wait for the video to drop. Always looking forward to them. Continued success throughout the whole season, and I hope you both have your best one yet. Rock on!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Well said! My 3rd season with the crossbow after reading your DEATH BY BUNJIE first book. Took two on opening day of Georgia archery season, a doe and a velvet cowhorn spike. That makes a total of 5 with Bunjie's cousin, the Micro 335 Kryptek Raid. Looking forward seeing the Maryland videos! 🦌

The last tip is only take good shots. That is something that my 19 year old son is great at. He has come back from hunting multiple times stating he had a shot at a buck or a doe but didnt like the shot, so he didn't take it. When I was that age, the arrow/bullet was going down range. Even at 50, I have a hard time passing up a shot, but age has brought wisdom.

Hey Rich; Just wanted to thank you for all you do. Recently got a Scorpyd crossbow. I love everything about it except needing a decocking arrow. We sometimes need to compromise a little. Well that's good to hear, I'm really happy to hear that. The decocking arrow is something that you get used to. That was a downer in my book, also, but as long as you have extra room and a quiver and still have four arrows you can shoot at Deer I guess I'm okay with it haha it really doesn't take that long to de cock with a decocking arrow

Accuracy, shot placement. I am kind of a Nerd, but I found if you visualize a line like a laser or straight line being your arrow flight, or bullet path, it's great help in shot placement. It's especially helpfull when the deer is at a little bit of an odd posture, where does that line GO, where does it EXIT. Let's you see in your mind where the flight path is going to be. You might be surprised where things really 'line up' !

Great tips. You & Genevieve are a good team. What do you think of practicing with the opposite hand? What I mean is if you are right handed, is it possible to shoot left handed? I’ve never tried it. That happened this morning. I’m right handed and a nice buck walked out on my right side. It would have required me to shoot left handed, so I didn’t shoot.

You know, I have thought about this all the time in the tree stand. I've always been telling myself I was going to practice left-handed but I still have never taken a left-handed shot. Yes, you just need to sight in for them once the season rolls around and stop using field points. Once you have them sighted in, from then on you shouldn't have any trouble. Generally speaking mechanical broadheads will shoot better and more consistently than fixed blades.
