@LavenderElf There are ways to mitigate risks in investing. To start with, diversification is key. Otherwise, what are your choices? Your purchasing power will be eroded by inflation. That's not even in question. That's an absolute fact. Unless you plan on inheriting a large amount of money or winning the lottery, investing is all people have to weather any financial storms that may come their way. It's not a luxury, it's an essential.

@LavenderElf So you're telling me that everyone in your family is not having money issues, that everyone in your family is living on a sizeable amount of savings and/or inherited a lot of money? If not, I hope for your family's sake that they all stay healthy and physically able bodied since nobody can predict what will happen in the future. Also, the market goes through cycles. When the market goes down, yes the value of stock drops but it's also at that point wherein wealth is created because stocks are selling at a discount, so if you bought more inevitably when the market bounces back the value of stocks you own in a mutual fund will go up as well. Keeping your money in a low interest savings account is a guaranteed loss against inflation. The money you currently have in your bank account will not be worth the same as it is now far into the future, which is why creating surplus is key. What you "risk" is far greater in loss from inflation as oppose to a little volatility that skews towards an upward trend in the long term with bumps in the economic cycle along the way. But this is normal. This is what historical data of the stock market has shown.

For more realistic advice that fellow poor folks and those who live paycheck to pay check; invest in a garden. Food prices are absolutely going bonkers right now, I know in my country, prices have gone up triple in the last two years and isn’t slowing down. You don’t need to invest in major amounts of equipment either. You can start seeds very cheaply, reuse kitchen scraps and save the seeds from your first harvest for years to come. The most expensive thing you’ll find is quality soil. You want to invest properly in that, but you can help cut costs by utilising making your own compost, learning cheap amendments and knowing what to look for. KZbin is an invaluable resource and you can cut fresh produce bills rapidly, and improve your health and well-being :) All in all, don’t get fooled by gambling with money you don’t have to get rich when you’re not rich to begin with. Self sufficiency is the one skill we are never taught in any educational institution unless you seek it, and it’s because once you’re able to support yourself, you’re too hard to be supported by the government and big companies who rely on us being tired, ignorant and slaves to convenience.

She's got actual good tips compared to some accounts I've seen. But it's the same formula. 1) invest in index funds because you'll out perform portfolio managers almost every time. 2) invest consistently, don't time the market. 3) watch out for lifestyle inflations. (Got a bonus? Got a raise? Don't go buy that new phone new TV first, put it into assets/aka things that can make you money) Lots of other things that can help reach financial independence earlier, but at least stick to these three rules and you should be more than fine
@kev20202 жыл бұрын
Here's a basic example for stock. What if a stock you have researched and want to buy is $350 per stock right now. This is the time that it might drop to $50. You can buy 7 shares of that stock while it is low. When the stock goes back up to $350 and higher, you have 7 of them instead of the single share that you would have had otherwise. This may be the same for crypto, real estate and other values dropping momentarily. Buy it while it is low if you can. Speak with a financial advisor and figure out your options based on your finances.

I did not know about investment and it’s an intimidating, incomprehensible concept for me. Saving was a more secure, straightforward way that I learned since childhood. I should’ve invested my money because in retrospect, even at current recessions, the stock had never dropped to that level. I could have doubled that savings.

Get a shed house from lowes or an rv camper or tent. That's what everyone on disability or got evicted is doing right now because housing is so high but if you have a nice place to put it, it's not so bad. I wish you the best. Question is, how and where do I find businesses to buy out, and who do I go to invest my money?
@sbombfitness2 жыл бұрын
If you're not mentally or physically handicapped there's no reason you should be making less than like $36-40k in America. And if you're making that much and aren't living somewhere way too expensive for your budget, you can definitely cut some costs and start investing in yourself and in stocks, real estate, etc. Community college and KZbin are basically free so you have a whole world of knowledge to consume in order to improve yourself. And if you want an easy side hustle, find old men and women who need help with stuff at their house and just help them, you can make an extra few hundred dollars a month for no more than a few hours a week and you can invest that money. Final piece of advice: be grateful and be happy with less, so stop having Starbucks, stop eating out, buy an old but reliable car, live somewhere cheap but with good job opportunities, buy clothes infrequently and at cheap stores, visit a national park for free rather than spend money on a movie when you wanna have fun, and just be frugal overall while limiting consumption.

She isn't being tone-deaf. People in poverty spend money on luxury brands for special occasions, you know that? Unless you're part of the 'under class', you have some savings you can invest.
@lebunnie2 жыл бұрын
@@yin-yi5189 what? People in poverty or simply living paycheck to paycheck are going without food and ration essential medication like insulin. Do you know anyone in poverty? Bc they sure af ain't buying "luxury" brands for any occasion. They might INVEST in a better quality item every now and then, but those items get more than enough use and last longer than the cheap shit. (I'm thinking shit like work clothes+shoes. Idk what kind of items you think people are out here buying) also the official "poverty line" is so much lower than it should be. It hasn't kept up with inflation just like wages have not kept up with inflation. People at or below the official "poverty line" are NOT buying luxury anything because they literally can't even afford food, power, and medical care! I come from a place of privilege as well, I haven't had to go without food or power, (have had to go without medication recently, ITS HARD OUT HERE) so you AND wall street girly sound tone deaf.

@@yin-yi5189 bestie you're talking about middle class people. No poor person is spending money they literally don't have on luxury brand stuff that costs more than they make in a year or more. @@butchcoolidge2533 It's not. I'm talking about people on benefits who work on supermarkets. As I said, I WAS there. None of my parents worked, hadn't attended uni, my father died when I was young and we were on benefits. We still had 'luxury' brand items, whether that's expensive perfume etc., and also spent excessively on takeout. Luxury brands don't exist for the rich. They exist for the poor who try to look rich.
