Love this, thank you for helping us. I like how clear you are and how you distinguish between the science and anecdotal evidence. X

Thanks so much for the feedback! I always appreciate it! Yes, after a decade plus worth of practice sometimes the anecdotal evidence just hasn’t hit the research, but that doesn’t mean it’s not valid 😅 let me know if I can help in any other way

I am 50 years old and I started with vertigo 5 years ago. I've learned over time that sleeping face up at night reduced the attacks a lot. Now I have attacks every 4 or 5 months. I will include tips 1 (more calcium and vitamin d) and tip 5 (head down when I wake up in the morning). Epley maneuver works well for me but sometimes it takes 2 days to completely heal. I am doing a big research to discover the reasons why the crystals dislodge from the inside of the vestibular system; for me, getting old is not a good explanation that many experts say. I am a runner (train 3 times a week), very well hydrated, don't smoke, 0 alcohol and my cholesterol level is great. I suspect maybe I need more calcium. This video is very helpful, thank you for your tips!

I’m glad you found some of the tips useful. I’m not sure if you suffer from migraines, but people who suffer from migraines have an increase chance of developing the BPPV, again because of the reduced vascular supply to the ear with migraines, also hormones can play a role. I would like to do more research into Identifying hormonal imbalances and the link in developing BPPV.

What if you already take vitamin D and calcium? I could definitely up my water intake according to this. Cholesterol is ok. Love the 45 degree tip! My dentist and hairdresser know about my vertigo and always try to help! I actually sleep more propped up and never lie flat. But like the tip your nose down tip!

You can have your doctor double check to make sure your D it’s at a good level in your blood. I take 5000 IUs of vitamin D daily, and I had my vitamin D checked and I was super super low. There’s also some things that you can discuss with your doctor like taking magnesium or vitamin K to help make sure that the vitamin D is actually being absorbed into your body.
@Temirah111 ай бұрын
@@treatdizzinessathome2023 I will definitely have my level checked then! I do take 4000 iu daily, and I also take magnesium glycinate. I usually take them together. I take my calcium separately, but it has vitamin D in it. I read recently that calcium and magnesium taken together can cause absorption issues. Have you heard that?

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 I do not take vitamin k though. Is there one you recommend?

On the calcium thing, a few doctors and I have discussed if taking in extra calcium could harm or hurt it, being that maybe too much could cause the ear to release the crystals or produce too many, or if not enough calcium could cause the crystals to not form and stick well..............we have no clue lol, such a pain huh...
@treatdizzinessathome2023 Жыл бұрын
Here is one article on support for Vitamin D supplementation (with approval from your doctor) to help keep calcium levels at appropriate levels for otoconia reabsorption to prevent BPPV. This information has come out in the past few years so I know they are at least studying the topic more! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33491490/

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 I brought up vit d to the Dr John's guy here on youtube and he got pissed saying I'm just blabbing nonsense, like 8 years ago. He's kind of an ass, but we did talk more later, I like him, but he thinks only doctors can know things I believe.

You definitely need to have your vertigo evaluated by an in person medical professional to get a proper diagnosis then you can research treatment options. But I have multiple playlist on my homepage and treatment options for different conditions.

Hmmmm see on that last part, I've taught myself that when I wake up, to keep my head looking up a bit as I sit up and go to the edge of the bed, then I sit for a sec and stand up then slowly level my head. Seems to have helped, because befor, I would get right up fast and look down all tired and grouchy and it would seem to happen more often. Now I'm not sure, scared to switch lol

Don’t change anything if it works for you! 😁 of course I try to generalize my advice but everyone’s situation is different. So definitely do what works for your situation ☺️ I really appreciate your input!

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 And i appreciate your input, I'm not a medical expert but I lie to get to the bottom of things, and too many people suffer, it made working and self confidence very hard for me. I'm grateful for those that understand someone like me can be very knowledgeable too and may even know more than some doctors on this. Lots of professionals get lazy, or prideful, it's horrible, as my neurologist kept arguing that mine is not bppv earlier this year, he insisted i get vestibular migraines, while cutting me short, I finally had to get rough and say hey, listen for a sec, i may get vestibular migraines fine, and i do get occipital tension, however, wether those are causing the bppv or not, I DO GET BPPV lol I said I've been doing maneuvers and tests and recording the nystagmus and it reacts and coincides with every move I make, the timing, the sensation, I've had doctors watch my nystagmus with goggles while doing the maneuvers. Geeeez some people lol So he finally agreed and was surprised at what I know, same as the others. Honestly, if I didn't research all these years, I may have swam naked out to sea and never came back, it's that horrible being that dizzy, but luckily I'm getting somewhere with it all. Hope to talk soon with any new findings, please keep it up.

thank you for sharing your experience and comments. These are very common triggers indeed, specifically for conditions like Meniere's disease, eustachian tube dysfunction, and vestibular migraine.
