Another excellent video with great advice! Totally agree - DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY A PROPERTY! In our area, a couple bought a plot of 4000m2 and can only "clear and use" 300m2 due to it being a Fynbos area - they found out after the purchase. And that includes a house! Elsa and I had to laugh again with regards to the fencing comment - we just did our front fence, at a huge cost, and a 40 year old tree fell on it a week later LOL! Homesteading is not for the faint hearted - but we wouldn't change it for the world! Thanks again for the video - love your channel and INSTA to bits.

Completely agree 😂, it is super tempting to see a beautiful piece of land and buy it without really learning about what the land can do and what the laws say. In some instances prospective homesteaders have bought land with the intention to grow on it only to find that the land is not arable due to previous activities. Regarding the fence, The day we woke up and found a tree on it we had an epiphany that these kinds of things could happen at any time and so we even started to put some money aside for these events. There is so much joy to get from this life, but it sure makes you work for it 😂.

Congrats, looking forward to your journey. We will create a video on costs related to setting up the homestead. Its very important to note that it is very challenging to get exact numbers as location, size etc. of your homestead will contribute to these. But if you know what to expect you can do your research with these in mind.

You mentioned paying refuse fee without a dustbin may you please clarify on that one

🤣. We are referring to homes in the city. Once the home/flat etc is in your name, the city will start charging you for services. This includes waste services. Despite having a dustbin they will allocate the cost monthly. You will then have to go register for a dustbin and collect it. You may not have an option to cancel these as the city will claim that it is offering these services to you.
