My problem with young Justice is that when it made that jump from at most PG-13 to an adult show, it felt like they stopped putting the same amount of focus in subtle detail into the show especially when it came down to fear and shock. Instead of being tasteful with the gore and only needing to use it when it best fit, they just used it everywhere and leaned on it so heavily to make things scary or high stakes. Of course, this doesn't stand for every episode but it does it alot. The Halloween episode from season one was so well done and portrayed such a tragic situation better than any of the "scary" scenes in the newer episodes.

That was definitely a gigantic turn-off for me. A lot of DC's Live-Action stuff were heavily criticized for being too serious and violent. How is it any better when an animated show that literally has the word "Young" in the title becomes just as aggressively adult?

My biggest issue with this season is I felt like we were watching the side character. There was an episode where we got to see a few minutes of what was going on with “Batman incorporated” and that looked like a show I would rather be watching.

For me, season 2 is where it went wrong. We had the time jump and all these new characters and it just didn't work. Instead of focusing on a team of 7-9 characters, we instead deal with 25.

No I totally agree. In hindsight 2 was absolutely the wind up, 3 and 4 were the killing blow. The main causality being….the exposition dialogue. Due to the Time skips, the dialogue has become way more clunky to the point some characters sound very unnatural.

My main issue with season 3 & 4 is… 1. Like season two, it throws you in the middle of a status quo change that you learn about along the way, it feels like you started a show in the middle of it. 2. There are SO MANY characters and story lines, it’s like they wanna create their own entire DC universe, but we only have one show to tell stories and it’s so it’s jumping all over the place and lacks build up your cohesive storytelling 3. The season finals do it every final does, the penultimate episodes makes you think they’re going to lose and then in the final episode, it shows this was all part of their plan, the whole time, and they defeat the villains and wrap everything up in the season neatly in an abnormally quick amount of time

the 2nd pt is actually debatable bc in s4, they found a way to cluster each family in their own arc (Bat/Arrow family); The Magicians/sorcerers etc. So the intro of new characters who are barely known to casual fans like me is a great addition

I swear each season feels like its own show season 1 was awesome loved it from start to finish. Season 2 was still very good some parts I didn’t love but some parts I liked even more than season 1. I don’t know what happens after that because whenever I try and remember season 3 or 4 my brain simply fills with static and I fall into the sunken place.

The only thing I really remember enjoying a lot from Season 3( havent seen 4) was that episode where Dick Grayson helped Red Arrow with his security company. It's a shame too I can still remember season 1 and 2 very clearly. I felt like the big problem with the 3rd season was that they tried to recreate what they did with the second season. Introduce many new characters and have the previous characters in different roles. But it didn't come together cause I didn't really like the new characters, and the old characters just weren't as entertaining or interesting as they were before.

This is a problem with Black Lightning across the board especially if you look at the third/final season of black lightning on the CW and how they just made Jefferson and his family the worst part of the whole season Generally it feels like the writers couldn't get anything remotely right about the character of Black Lightning in both of these shows.

Beast Boy was at his most annoying in Outsiders and even more so in phantoms where he just becomes an annoying emo who whines about his own selfish feelings and breaks up with his own girlfriend 🤦‍♂️ Him wanting to become a superhero celebrity kind of makes him come across as more of a Fame hungry thrill seeker rather than a hero trying to help Seriously I got very very annoyed with how much beast boy got manipulated in outsiders.

It’s frustrating that Greg Weisman who has been making good stuff in the past is not doing great with Young Justice season 3 and 4, his writing feels a lot sloppy and repetitive. Plus he doesn’t want this show to end which is a red flag don’t ya think?

Part of me felt that Young Justice went downhill when Season 2 came along. While the time skip was kinda cool, it somehow decided to throw in new characters, some fan favorites like Tim Drake as Robin, Wondergirl, Spoiler and Orphan, who were nothing more than background characters or just plot devices. Not to mention the whole romance between Miss Martian and Lagoon Boy who are both equally horrible in that relationship. Miss Martian going out with someone else in front of Connor because she was mad at him for breaking up with her, even though he did it because Connor didn't like Miss Martian using her mind powers to reduce the bad guys into a vegetative state. Lagoon Boy in the other hand acted like an all around douchebag who think he's better than everyone else. And of course there's Tula's off screen death which was one of the sole reasons why Aqua Lad turned rogue. If you want to know how Tula died, go play the Young Justice Game with s**tty graphics, mediocre gameplay and meh and disappointing story. Everything you've said about both Seasons 3 and 4 were true as both stories of each season are a mess, way too many characters, a drop in quality with the animation and of course a half assed adult setting with stuff like sex, blood and gore and swearing. And some people say that Teen Titans Go was the worst thing that happened to humanity and is one of the few reasons why Young Justice got cancelled back in 2013. At least Teen Titans Go was entertaining to watch and basically suitable for kids. Young Justice doesn't know what it's tone is.

Wow I appreciate the big comment! Especially because it was actually well written haha. I agree and disagree with what you said. I actually really like M’Gann and Lagaans relationship because it’s a crappy relationship, and the show knows it (I think). They’re fake and superficial, and Conner is right. Lagaan is a rebound guy. Season 3 definitely has a tone problem, you’re right. The random bits of gore can be really distracting. The times I like it most are when it’s less obvious, like Brion pumping Lava through Baron Bedlams brain. Thanks for the view and comment, again!

It's s**t like this is why people hate the DCEU and how both Superman, Batman and Aquaman were portrayed as angsty, idiotic, drunk heroes who kill people or leave them to die when in most better forms of media, they would go out of their way to save people.

@@samflood5631 I have seen the first 2-ish seasons of HQ and none of Kite Man. I liked what I’ve seen of HQ, as a fun take on the DC universe, but haven’t found the emotional side compelling enough to stick with it. Though I do really like Harley and Ivy in it. Kite Man also seems similarly funny, but just haven’t seen any.

Season 3 had a lot going on, but so little of it was interesting. While season 2 handled the newly introduced characters with returning characters well, season 3 definitely fumbled. Definitely the hardest to watch season. Season 4 is more interesting and focuses more on our original crew, not perfect, but worth a watch.

Young Justice along with Justice League Unlimited have great world building and while both have lots of characters I feel Justice League no matter how old that show is handles the massive characters better than Young Justice did. Young Justice makes me feel like I’m forgetting who this character is 😂when we barely saw them before or never did, the Justice League cartoons managed the lots of characters better by giving each their own arc for like 2 eps and had em teaming up with previous characters. I do love S1 and 2 of Young Justice more than 3 I haven’t seen 4 yet

JLU never assumed you’ve read the comics, which meant they explained every new character a lot more. YJ does assume you’ve done some homework, which can be refreshing for someone who HAS read them, but still confusing.

I’d say there’s a line between being bad and something that could’ve been better. And young Justice struck me as comics and each character focus is like a different ongoing comic run which get jumbled but also it’s kinda hard for them to all be bad math wise. And I’d say anytime beast boy was on screen that boy was carrying. And season 4 is better since they’re more restrained since they gave most of the main cast an arc (except for my boy Nightwing), was cool to see Jason in season 3 for a cameo

Season 1 was really good. Season 2 was ok the main problem with season 2 was the 5 year time skip otherwise it's fine. Season 3 was just god awful. I was so looking forward to it when it was announced what a let down.

I got to agree with this that there was too much this season. I also felt that there were to many characters used. Nightwing, Aquaman, Superboy, Miss Martian, Tigress, Zatanna, Geo-Force, Halo, Forager, Terra, Black Lightning, Helga, Cyborg, El Dorado, Beast Boy, Wondergirl, Blue Beetle, Static, Impulse, Thirteen, Oracle, Red Robin, Orphan, Arrowette, Spoiler. I count at least 25 characters that were important to the story. 25! In season 1, we got to explore each character and their problem due to the small cast, more than once. Season 2, focused more on the plot, but at least gave characters moments like Miss Martian's frying people's minds and Aqualad being a double agent. But season 3, we got way too much to explore. It wasn't that bad and I did enjoy it, but there were still too many characters. I understand that you need new characters because you can't keep reusing the same characters over and over again, making them overcome a random problem that comes out of no where. The main 6's problems were already resolved in the first 2 seasons. But add to many and you risk just adding characters to just be there. Like in all honesty, Tim Drake and Cassie. Their relationship comes out of nowhere and they didn't have any story in my opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Cassie wasn't even a main playable character in the Young Justice game, where her own mother was kidnapped in!

I keep thinking that maybe Beast Boy would be fine if he was voiced by anyone BUT Greg Cipes and was written to be less annoying and preachy. And I probably wouldn't mind his new character design if he only looked like that as a civilian while going back to his monkey-like appearance when he works as a superhero. That could have been interesting. But oh well, I guess that's too hard for a Shape-shifter who specializes in animals while having the word "Beast" in his name. 😒

I love hearing different opinions on the Young Justice show!! Your viewpoints / summaries of the characters and plots really clarify a lot of what I missed, especially considering Season 3 isn't one I revisit 😓 (i really only rewatch Klarion's episode because Season 2 robbed me of him lmao) My own biggest gripe is the lack of true Outsiders relevant to the plot. As much as I adore seeing the wrap-up for the Team I've come to know, it felt a bit cheap with how they handled a "new generation" of public heroes working outside the U.N's jurisdiction, as well as the orchestrated events from the League to get them good PR. I get that's the whole point of that conflict, but I still feel it was dealt poorly... My one praise, however, is that it still felt roughly in the confines of its own universe as much as it borrowed from various comics! It felt like a truly different continuity as opposed to being 1:1 love-letters to their comics. (Season 4 I felt fumbled this, but that's a whole can of worms!) I can't wait to see more from your channel

Outsiders and Phantoms were very slow to watch and too many side plots I just didn't care about. So much wasted potential and with the timeskips make it worse. While I appreciate its mature themes, it like they sidelined the main plot.

The pace is definitely an issue that I’ve noticed so far in S4. I like the mini-arc structure but it’s hard to build up momentum when every 4-5 episodes we go to a completely new cast pretty much.

Even if S3 is my least favorite season of Young Justice, I do still enjoy it and can admire it for taking big swings. That being said, I do really love Season 4 (Phantoms) and actually like how it’s sectioned into mini-arcs for every lead character that slowly collide together. Warning for Season 4: because of its structure, you’ll have to wait a while to see Dick Grayson as he comes into play in the final arc, but it’s still cool.

honestly I want to just forget season 2 3 and 4 and start a new season 2 with a different storyline that continue from season 1, I really hate the time skip in season 2 because you have to play a game to know some of what happened in the time skip, in season 2 I hoped that conner would get his telekinesis powers to make him a little unique to other character who have super strength
