We are just starting out raising chickens and we’ve spent the day watching your videos on our tv! Unfortunately, it doesn’t give us the option to like on tv but we wanted you to know we are incredibly thankful for the information you’ve given us! ❤️

In my school there is a really cool teacher that brung these cute looking chick's for us to see and pick up at recess. One time I tried to pick up one but it ran away from me so I wanted to use this video so I can hold them properly. Ty.😊

My chicks will be three weeks old tomorrow, mine still act scared when I get them, I usually put my hand in flat and they all come for a tummy rub, but when I go to pick them up from the sides they still act scared, one will walk onto my hands. I usually spend a few minutes with each one on my knee with a cosy towel and then then will sit and be stroked and not held. I always wear the same jacket so they know it’s me

Mine do that too, I try to respect them and not pick them up to much but when they escape their home I have to get them back in somehow 🤷♀️

I and my daughter did this the first few day often and the come forward to our hands and we pick them up slowly. They are so easy to handle and so trusty now. The whole family ❤ them I had Heidi, Elfi and Yule 6 weeks in a plastic container in the house and heating lamp the reptile one not the red light. and when it was hot outside I picked them up, put them in a high bucket with a cover, outside also picked them up, one by onE, by PUT MY HAND UNDER THEIR BELLY. They so calm doing this. Now they 9 weeks old and in their forever chicken home. Elfi likes to jump on my arm like a cocktail lol. Right now thy are little chickens version. ❤ Thank you for your awesome video.

I notice it’s easier to pick up my chicks when I move my hand slowly so they aren’t all scattering. Right now we are moving them outside for a few hours during the day so getting handled quite a bit 😅

I spend so much time imprinting the chicks, that I actually plan dinner menus to be cooked in the crockpot, or I pre-make homemade soups & freeze them, or even freeze pre-grilled burgers, etc... I literally hold them & make the eye contact & make a sound to be associated with me... at least 4 times a day. Now, they're 12 days old & have been hopping onto my arms for several days. They were freaked out yesterday when I 2 chicks out of both bins, and put them in a new bin. (Had 6 chicks in 2 bins, as they're getting bigger, I added another bin, and now have 4 chicks in each.) How do u get them to eat out of your hand? I tried some chopped up canned corn, and I tried yogurt. (Usually I place a bit of yogurt on the bin walls, but wouldn't try it. They love their baby grit though... lol). 🤷♀️

Aw sweet babies. Unfortunately for me I needed to leave town on business and missed the first 7 weeks of my chicks lives. 😥. I had always envisioned being able to cuddle with them. Have I missed the opportunity completely? They are now 4 months old. They recognize me as the lady who feeds them good food, and some will let me pick them up but not without a scwabble which makes me feel sad for them. What can I do if anything?
@thefeatherbrain2 жыл бұрын
I'll address this topic in a video eventually with some ideas. You've definitely not missed the opportunity. It's easiest if you imprint them, but you can still have cuddly chickens no matter how old they are. Spend lots of time with them, give them treats from your lap, and I'll make a video soon-ish with more instructions/ideas.

Another thing you can do is to kinda put your middle finger between their legs and with a flat hand kinda just pick them up

If you notice she wasn't picking it up though. One thing you could do, especially if they're in your lap, is you cover them with your hand or arm kind of like the mama bird does with her wing and they can find comfort in that. If your hands quickly moving from up above them though it will definitely startly them. If you notice she was slowly sneaking towards the chick from the side.

Chick's are mostly bought by kids in my country and it's sad because of how they carry and drop them its not a pet for the house but a farm animal don't treat them like this
@JessicaO490Z9 ай бұрын
Actually they can be quite sweet and tame as a pet too. You just have to teach your child to be respectful and gentle with them.

my chickens detests me and scare of me, everytime i use my motorbike to go out for shopping and sort of jobs out of home. they really scare ,even if my motorbike's engine is off and i just wanna jump on it to get ready to go... i already did a lot of cuddlings to them, gifted a bunch of tasty cockroaches to them, but, seems their brains , resets to their factory setting, by seeing me touching my motorcycle. 😞🛵😔
