This was a great watch and its great to see you've found so many benefits to starting YT. As someone that has been going through a bit of crisis when it came to my phsyical collecting habits, I decided I must rid of my collection entirely a few months back, which was a really rough decision to make, but Im doing so much better for it now. I've been watching your vids for the past 6 months and you have really helped me realise I had to take action against my own issues surrounding collecting, thank you! and keep the brill content flowing.

It’s a strange feeling isn’t it. Those things you held so precious for many years… once they’re gone, the feeling of the weight being lifted is quite unexpected. I’m glad my videos have been helping you with the process. Marking the videos has certainly helped me with the process when thinking out why I’ve been collecting (or hoarding). Thank you for the comment, glad you’ve found something relatable in there 🙏🏼

I love the production quality of your videos. You’re entertaining, engaging and have a passion for physical media. Physical media is a dying industry at the moment (so we are led to believe). Great video to learn a little more about yourself ❤👍

Thanks Kermit, appreciated. It’s been a weird couple of week for the channel. I know this video was perhaps a little of ‘topic’ for the channel but something I wanted to do. Last weeks video (the one that is now missing) I dumped because I didn’t feel it was thought provoking or had anything much to say… so, to the bin it went. It was just a little shelf reorganisation but just didn’t feel right.

The dumb thing is that I have like... most of the STUFF I'd need to make videos, but none of the ideas, charisma, or desire to be on camera. I mean, I have a decent gaming pc, which means a decent editing pc... I have a 64tb nas that i could store all my footage on. I have a 4k camera. Just no idea what to make the content about. I guess maybe it could be the house I just bought and am renovating, but I'm very self conscious about being on screen.
@PhillwithadoubleL6 ай бұрын
It all depends on your desire to make videos. Home renovation is a good topic, gaming PC builds can be another good topic too. You don’t have to be on screen, provided you have the decent well thought out footage and can practice your editing skills then there’s no reason you have to have your face on screen at all. Don’t doubt yourself. You could even do a video just for yourself to see how it comes out and not even post it ! If it’s something you fancy trying… why not, no one has to see it if you choose not to share !

I feel so blessed my office realised it could save money on heating, building rental, selling unnecessary buildings and carpark area etc. by llowing a lot more hybrid or home working where it was now possible (they'd pais out to massively upgrade the computer infrastructure during Covid so it was all in place now at no or negligible extra cost). Still below 300 and a bit frustrated (often at my ill health but also when I just _;get out of the habit'_ of regular videos) at not growing but I still enjoy my YouTubing. A lot of what you say here is very true for me too about starting and what you're saying is really interesting... the community of KZbin for me has been huge and has now included real life meet-ups and friendships. And what you say about self confidence is so true (though I still take any negatives a bit too hard, I've learned to ignore most of them, which I wasn't sure if I could when I started)

@@lukemcgibney Thanks Luke 🙏🏼 the way im looking at it… every mistake or failure is a learning experience. The more I do, the more I learn. For me, at the moment. These videos are all about learning. I need to put myself out there and keep myself accountable in some way. I’m trying different things, they don’t all work but they all come with lessons. The worst that happens, people don’t watch. But… I can never say I didn’t try something new along the way. There are a bunch of things I’m prepared for and I do want to make. At the moment. This is my training ground until I feel ready to tell some other stories and feel I can do them justice… and also try to afford myself a bit of a crew and maybe some actory folks to help tell a couple of those stories.

I’ve got my Mac mini set up with Final Cut Pro now. My only problem at the moment is carving out the time to sit down and learn Final Cut and what it can do. At the moment I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Doing extra courses at the day job has stolen a lot of energy but I should be through those next month and able to take some time off to knuckle down into this Final Cut learning. Cant wait to learn some new trick and trim up my videos even more.

Only thing I would add is dont worry about numbers views etc, that will come in time. Engage with others that interest you and share an interest in whatever it may be. And have FUN. It shows and people will pick up on it quick. Not everyone can edit or has the gift of the gob and it is a strange thing to get used to chatting to a camera/yourself/imaginary people😂 Very soon the people come some are nice some are not, just as in real life but NEVER let that deter you if you are enjoying yourself.👍😎

I do get a certain amount of flex but after such an extended period of realising what the possibilities were in terms of working patterns. The old model of needing the office and using it more frequently than not just feels much harder than it used to. It’s really difficult to explain to businesses how much it affects things now.
