I watched it when it first aired and was happy at the time for having a Zelda cartoon alongside Super Mario Bros. I bought the dvd set from Shout! Factory on release and loved the subtle adult humor that was snuck into it. Now,despite the love/hate reputation that this show gets, I take it for what it is and continue enjoying it no matter what.

I even used it myself; without giving too much away, I'll just say I'm creating a Nintendo-based cartoon featuring a cameo by Link (his elfin outfit blue instead of green) as chief of police, and when an arrested minion protests that he was perfectly within his area's laws, Link just rolls his eyes saying to him, "Well Ex-CUUUUSE ME, ' princess'." Loved the cartoon as a kid. Loved the games from the beginning of the franchise as a kid to today as a middle-aged man. Got Tears of the Kingdom for my 40th birthday last year and beat it after 5 months of laying 2 days ago. Loved it. :D Hopefully that iconic line makes it into one of the games some day if it wasn’t in one of the handheld games I haven’t played. I heard there is a Zelda movie potentially in the works after the phenomenal success of the Super Mario Bros Movie. Wouldn’t be surprised if the line is referenced in that, if it materializes.

So that's my way of paying homage to the Zelda TV show. The book is full of tongue-in-cheek references to things like Final Fantasy, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, so I couldn't _not_ riff on Zelda too. :-)

I own them all including the custom ones and the game and watch(both new and old). The only Zelda thing I don’t own(other than a couple of the themed consoles) are the CDi games because I refuse to pay money for that garbage. Took me 29 years to complete the collection.

Personally, I felt it was a textbook example of wasted potential. There were episodes with good ideas hampered by questionable writing decisions (particularly with the way Link was written). If you want an example of the show Legend of Zelda ultimately should have been, you should seek out an early '90s anime called Record of Lodoss War.

Definitley watched it. The Super Mario Bros. Cartoon came on every day EXCEPT Friday, since that was Zelda day. What a time to be alive
