Great video for me. Even as a qualified instructor I do sometimes struggle with lesson planning, so I'll be watching all of this type. Thanks again

I think if this video came out a few weeks ago I would’ve passed my 1st attempt. I kinda overtrained my pupil because the subject should’ve been already practiced and I didn’t adapt because I didn’t want to give a long briefing during the test. In this video you point out this possibility and I was simply not ready to deal with this in a test situation. If they want to see a real lesson we should be allowed to introduce a new subject when the pupil needs to advance.

really good stuff Howard. Been watching your channel from Holland for quite some time now (couple of months i think). I am orientating to start training as a driving instructor here in The Netherlands, and (altough some of the rules and laws are different here on the continent) i believe all these videos of yours are already helping me preparing to start the course and or becoming an instructor :-) so know that you have fans abroad as well Howard :-)

Hey thanks, good luck with your training. I’d be interested to learn how the qualification process differs in Holland 🌷
@maverick2009ish9 ай бұрын
well something that differs i noticed is that you as a PDI can choose a trainer and it all seems like a very independant procedure with lots of individual responsibility (?) here in Holland when yhou choose a training-institute you close a deal so to speak with that institute that the whole training (including school-hours, teachers/trainers, mentorship 40 hours of teaching pupils etc.) becomes a package-deal like...sometimes you can choose your own process but that mostly becomes (lot more) expensive, if you have to 'buy hours' with another driving instructor and such....so 9 out of 10 times here in The Netherlands you buy 'the whole package' (not only nationals/franchise however, lots of independant smaller driving schools here as well@@How-2-drive

Great video! Quick question though. For the new format part 3 doesn't the examiner ask the PDI to imagine that he is getting in the car 15 minutes after the lesson has started. Does this negate the need for such a detailed question and answer session?

Best to start your lesson, then pick up the examiner so yes this will mean you can get going sooner

I get more and more confused the more I study for a part 3 test. We are told that it's a matter of mins max 5 mins before we set off wheels moving etc it's as good as in the adi 1 document yet I'm a little confused the lady on my stop watch Was at nearly 7 mins that without shared responsibilities and directions etc so we are in to 8 and 9 minutes. Love thease videos Howard more please. I'm on hold for my part 3 and thier seems a big difference between opions on how best the part 3 test is done leaving us pdis very confused well the ones I have spoken to
@How-2-drive9 ай бұрын
You are correct in what you say. Just spend 3 mins to recap. Agree goals and needs. Find this out by having a conversation with pupil. Discuss a plan on how to best achieve these goals and get going. Cover how you’ll keep things safe and how you’re going to direct. Both PDI’s are in the early stages of delivering lessons, they’ve yet to go out with real pupils. After 4 months of practice and additional training, Kelly passed with 41 point. She understands client centred learning and focuses on the needs of the pupil. This is clear from her approach.
