I am so glad I watched this! Interview was good but he reminded me that I had to do something my aunt told me to do the other day. He said he stood on his Bible 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. And said the same exact thing my aunt told me to say! I just paused the interview, went and got my Bible, went to my prayer room and stood on my opened bible. Proverbs 10:22 The blessings of the Lord makes me rich and adds no sorrow with it! I’ll forever stand on that word! Thank you Mr. Howard for the reminder 🙌🏾✝️😊

@@gigiones3671 Nah..unlike yourself, I just choose to stand on substance that can NOT be credibly disputed, rather than pretending. My examples of some of the "Greatest" male singers of all time? Not a problem. Luther Vandross. Steve Perry. Donnie Hathaway. David Ruffin. Saeed Renaud. Pavarotti. Can you kindly point me to even one example of Hewett's singing that would put him among that caliber? I'll wait.
@PaulPaid
@PaulPaid 10 ай бұрын
@@gigiones3671 You're still missing the point (purposely?). I could name a list of so-so, sub-par singers and Hewett still couldn't out sing any one of them. How did he make your "Greatest of all time" list?? I'll let you off the hook though. A lot of us tend to over embellish when we speak of entertainers we admire for whatever reason.

@@MasterZhao Agreed for the most part but to keep it 100, Prince, while inarguably is one of, if not THE greatest pop composert/entertainer the world has ever seen, is not known as an Elite vocalist. I mean sure, he would leave Hewett in the dust and could definitely carry a tune and had a mesmerizing falsetto and tenor which he oh so tastefully used to lace his absoluely GENUIS compositions...but he was not a particularly outstanding vocalist either. At least not when compared to the aforementioned singers.
@MasterZhao
@MasterZhao 10 ай бұрын
I would have to agree with @paulpaid, Although he's not terrible, going "greatest of all time" might be a stretch. He did a gig recently and he definitely has lost something, but even in his prime there were a few quite a bit above him. Again, not terrible, but not GOAT either. Prince would be in that category for me.

I enjoyed the interview . I had no idea that his mother was a Gospel Music promoter and knew the legends of Gospel Music. I am glad that he mentioned the difference between Inspirational and Gospel Music. Most people don’t know that. I went to a church where the Pastor put down R&B and Jazz artists not knowing that those artists are also Christians. The same attitude from Gino Jennings. Mr. Hewett had given great life advice as well. Thanks and God Bless.

This is one interview I did not want to view and olny for the reason of the mini interview that came out of this one - with Jody Watley's quote. But tonight was the time and I was not disappointed. I have been a fan of HH ever since I heard "Amen". I heard it every time at the same time (just before the noon time signal) on a local Jamaica FM station (around the late 1990s). I can only describe it as a comforting hand placed on your heart. But I did not know the song's origin until now. HH is truly inspiring singing and equally as charming. Amen 🎶

He’s too old/grown to be delusional or in denial about what went down with Jody. My guess is he knows exactly why she has the attitude she has towards him and/or the group and his role in it whether it’s big or small. My opinion is he needs to call her direct (grown man.....gentleman moves) to check in, discuss, release the bullshit, grant blessings and keep it moving. At that point, whatever will be......will be. The fact that he’s never called or discussed it with her one on one, but asked someone else to ask her......says a lot. Not in a good way. The fact that he talks about what she should do and what her attitude should be shows he’s missing the point which is probably why she’s hesitant to deal with him/them. Just my opinion.

@@aj25055 Hewett threatened to kick her ass and pushed her out the group and told her she wouldn’t be shit without Shalamar. And he took million dollar advances from Shalamar executives that Jody never received to this very day. And he continues throughout the decades to denigrate Jody Watley until fans pressed him just recently and he finally apologized 40 years later and not even to her face. Sounds suspect.

@@jerronwesley4473 Exactly! Jody said that they have seen each other since the breakup back in 2013, 2015, and recently in 2019. But he still wants to say that there’s beef. She said that she forgave him and Jeffrey in a lengthy and detailed blog she wrote back in 2016. Also, he and Jeffrey needs to tell the truth that they signed an agreement that they can only perform with Carolyn Griffey. That’s why there will never be a reunion with Jody.

Jody mentioned several details in many interviews on why she felt the way she did with Shalamar. Howard's ego and Jeffree's controlling behavior led to the strife. I wish Howard was asked about marrying actress Nia Peebles (from the tv show Fame) and being the mother of his kid. Howard sang background on Janet's "Come Give Your Love To Me" and duetted with La Toya on "Heart Dont Lie", no mention of working with them? I wish he was asked his thoughts on the Jackson sisters. Howard spoke of Prince wearing heels, but Howard wore high heels on a segment with Donnie Simpson on Video Soul and Donnie clowned him for it. Howard mentioned music exec, Bob Krasnow a lot, he worked with Ike and Tina FYI.

A shout out to 'Jessie and the Mellow Tons' great funk band in Akron ( mentees of Sly ) . I was a dancer before several bands in the the greater Akron area from 1971 - 74. Tons of artistry in Akron , my hometown.
