Quanti bei ricordi di quello splendido periodo....grazie Howard!!!

Nice, dynamic song with superb voice reaching high notes and strong drums. I don't understand why this masterpiece didn't manage to be part of Howard's compilation "best of" that was launched in 1993.

This is one of his best songs. Part of it captures how I feel about my twin brother, who died when we were very young. I never stop missing him.

I suddenly realize I've been in love with Howard Jones' music for years! I just didn't put all the songs I adore to his name. Like, "No One Is to Blame," "What is Love," "Things Can Only Get Better," "Like to Get to Know You Well"... Holy cow, he's amazing!! A real example of 80s awesomeness, indeed.

This is really his signature song, in terms of lyrics, and his best song ever. The 12" version is epic. The first version I heard (on US radio when a different song was the US single), and it will live with me forever.

I don't think I heard this one much at the time,but it did get to number 35 it turns out,giving him one more Top 40 hit,after No One is to Blame much earlier in 1986.

Howard Jones was definitely the master of synthpop! Great 80s track, and still sounds pretty fresh.

The truly great musicians expressed their deeper thoughts through their music and lyrics. Howard is one of those rare few and his songs always contain some element of spirituality.

Was so lucky to watch him in concert in Manila. i’m from Cebu City and i had to take a plane an hour to Manila and stayed there fo a couple of days efore i watched the concert 80’s Revival feat. Belinda Carlisle, The Human League and Howard Jones. it was all 3 hrs and 30 mins long. Howard sang most of his hits and so with Belinda and Human League. i was on a natural high.

Howard Jones made a lot of superb songs, this included. I thought at the time it looked a massive hit. He was on Top Of The Pops with this, either before/ after equally brilliant Julian Cope's 'World Shut Your Mouth...
@arthurnibble47636 жыл бұрын
Same TOTP show, after Julian Cope's superb effort (complete with weird gravity defying mic stand) and an awful comeback from Paul Young. Jed joined Howard with a nightmarish mask and Howard had an almost Earth Wind and Fire number of musicians on stage with him!

Commercial pop writers take note: absolutely *perfect* top-notch classy chorus here - so doesn't matter that some of the verse lyrics are a bit suspect! One of Howard's best hits.

The rough pixelation is absolutely intentional. Definately tweaking with it as an art form. With the limited digital technology of the time (in it's infancy), this stuff is amazing. Too bad early MTV didn't give this obscure video more airplay. Great stuff these lost gems. Howard Jones stuff still stands as some of the great classic tech-pop of the 80s. Dig up more if you got it!

He'd kinda slipped off the radar as far as chart success goes when this came out - but for me it's my favourite song of his by a long way. Got it on 7 and 12" vinyl still. Unfortunately good, meaningful pop was being replaced with crass, commercial shit at this point.

Ahahaha! This comment almost killed me, seriously. I was eating some steak and I busted out laughing. A piece of the steak got lodged in my throat and I started choking. There was no one around so I tried in vain to stop myself. Fortunately I was able to reach the phone and pick up the reciever before passing out, hitting my head and going into a seizure. When I came to I was in a hospital bed and the doctors told me everything was going to be ok thankfully. You should be more careful.
