I mean, what this scene tells us is that despite being more accomplished than Leonard, Leonard's siblings have also failed so far to earn their mother's approval or pride. So either they've grown to care less than Leonard about their mother being unaffectionate, or they are in exactly in the same boat as Leonard. It was a missed oppurtunity to never show us Leonard's siblings when we met everyone else's (actually, we didnt meet Bernadette's siblings either, which is a shame.)

Personally I feel as though it’s a travesty that we never got to see Leonard and his whole family interact together, or at least get to see his brother and sister in at least one episode.
