If you have ever known a heroin or coke addict this book is very relatable. I used to hold my sisters head up out of the toilet. And she would just look up at me and smile. She said she got a rush every time she puked. Horrible stuff. Like Nikki, she survived, and after 20 years of IV use found sobriety.
