I'm a 58 year old rock 'n roll type of guy. My daughter loved 1D but I couldn't relate. I'm now telling her to listen to this guy's rendition of one of my favorites. It's spot on. I've also been listening to some of his other stuff on Fine Line - which is pretty damn good. I have to choke on my pearly beads and say I really like this guy!

Well, Gabriel obviously had to sign off on agreeing for him to do the cover version. For me, it is way too close to the original. If you are going to completely copy a song note for note, I don't really understand the point in doing it. But if it makes him and his fans happy and he has Gabriel's blessing I guess it doesn't matter what I think.

Soi Dog Cowboy same. Never payed attention to any boy band artists. They always seem like carbon copies of each other. My wife put on his album one day in car in 2017 I believe. I began to really feel his songs and not long became a fan lol. He has a cool mix of rock and pop to his style. Oh, and made me actually laugh on snl recently too.

The original sound was a factory sample of a shakuachi on the Fairlight. She's using the same sample, so it sounds spot on. I expect the same goes for the brass sound.

It's cause he /All of them, Absolutely NAILED IT. If I ever do covers, I go for the album versions. (was in a radiohead tribute band, stand-up drums and lead vocals ..and we all listened) .. SO RAD this guy understands WHY a song is awesome in the first place. Don't get me wrong.. Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah" is one of the 8 wonders of the world.. but those are Somewhat rare. I turned 13 in 1990, so my youth was the 80's. I was lucky to have Mtv for most of the 80's and I love this tune. The video is great. Another good one was "Big Time". Hell, I'm gonna watch it right now!

Having followed Genesis right from the start, and Peter Gabriel from his departure from Genesis, throughout his career I can say Harry Styles has done an excellent cover. I am grandma-age old and remember the original version. A couple of months ago I was refusing to listen to Harry since he was formerly in a boy band. I had read nice reviews of his latest CD and thought about listening, but I was still too stubborn. What did make me say WTH just listen to one song was his "Juice" cover, and I just sat there in awe when the song was finished. So I found more songs, bought both CDs, and asked my adult daughter (who also likes his music) if she wants to go to his concert when he comes our way. Yes, we are going! And I am so excited. He did a wonderful version of this song, one of my all time fave songs.

I'm 51 and a new fan. I was aware of 1D, but didn't listen to their music until recently. They were good together, but man, Harry just shines going solo. "Fine Line" is brilliant and I can't stop listening to this cover of Sledge 🔨. His band is really talented as well. Those ladies are kicking it! O.K., if loving Harry (at my age) is wrong, I don't wanna be right!!

I agree with how faithful the cover was. It's clear he was definitely influenced by Peter Gabriel and has tons of respect for him. Sounded like a young Peter. Loved how he put in all of the 'vocal quirks' of the song and even the body movements were very 'Peteresque'. As a huge Gabriel fan this was very enjoyable. Job well done.

Harry's solo stuff is some of the best music that has been put out in the last few years. Sign of the Times should have won a Grammy and his newest album Fine Line is mixed perfectly with every song being a potential hit. His appreciation for music history, classic rock really shows in his solo stuff. I hope he keeps it up!... still not sure about the granny outfit though. haha

This isn't just a cover. This is an homage to one of the best songs ever. The original's video may have contributed into it being huge, burning it's way into the retinas of the MTV generation, and becoming an iconic image of the 80s. It was first and foremost a bloody good song. Styles and the band should be commended on such an excellent job.

As a Peter Gabriel tragic I have say this a superb version. His voice is perfect and the band is superb. The Motown style backing vocals are spot on and the band is tight. Harry is a real vocalist.
