This looks like basically the most recent of only three _Shanghai Noon_ reactions on youtube? It wasn't a megahit like _Rush Hour_ and it's not as iconic for the comedy itself as many others, but it's just such a fun time, and a pretty unique genre (like _A Knight's Tale_ ), I'm annoyed it doesn't get more love!

"Reach for the skies" is slang for "put your hands up." It's so you can see the person doesn't have a weapon in their hands and can't grab a gun from their holster.

I loved this one from the start, had it on DVD and everything, but I never saw _Knights_ out of fear it would cheapen the pure wholesome vibe of their buddyness. But everyone seems to have good things to say, maybe it's worth a shot...

"Ooooh... who's the pretty lady?" "That's my wife!" "How long have you been in this country?" "Four days." "Nice work." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Brandon Merrill and Olivia Cheng. Casting Notes Fact: Brandon Merrill, who plays Jackie Chan's horse-riding Native American wife, is a real-life rodeo champion. As of June 2022, this remains her only movie role. Cutting Room Floor Fact: Curtis Armstrong filmed scenes in the role of Bulldog Drummond, but his scenes were cut before the movie was released. They can all be seen together in the deleted scenes on the DVD. Historical Fact: At the end of the movie, Roy O'Bannon's (Owen Wilson) real name is revealed to be Wyatt Earp. In real life, Wyatt Earp was a gambler and later on a Sheriff, much like the character from the movie.

Struggling with some matters of my own so I recognize how important it is to take what you need, at your own pace. Baby steps. Try, care, love. Aria, I know what you mean about trailers. There are some out there that give away too much. I still watch trailers, because sometimes they do a good enough job to keep you curious without any big giveaway. I hope that all is well with you in your life. We all understand that there are unavoidable things that occur, and when that happens, we will understand if you need to be absent from here. We will all miss you, but when you need to take care of yourself, we will be here waiting for you.

In all honesty, when I first saw this movie (in theaters), I _hadn't_ seen any of the trailers for it. I knew nothing about it beyond the information you can get from the poster. I still got a _huge_ kick from it. _Afterward,_ I saw one of the trailers. You know that bit in the outtakes where Jackie and Owen try to ram the door of the church open with their shoulders and discover the door is locked? That shot was not part of the movie, but they put it in the trailer.

Well, Aria, I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with personal issues. But just let me say this movie was an _awesome_ choice to raise your spirits. Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson have some truly _classic_ moments between them. Personally, though, my eye was caught by Brandon Merrill. She was the actress who played Falling Leaves, Chon's Sioux wife. The sequel is _Shanghai Knights,_ she's not in it and her absence is conspicuous. This movie is the _only one_ in her filmography.

Howdy Aria, I've been with you since the Star Wars days, good to see you're still covering hits even if it's not as often as everyone would like; just a quick technical note, your camera is securely manual-focused on the wall behind you and should be refocused if you'd prefer to the be center of attention - you still have our attention either way 🍿❤

While it may seem natural to want to make promises, we should consider the emotional impact unfulfilled expectations can have on our well-being. Consider opting for commitments instead. Commitments signify our intent and dedication, yet they also offer the flexibility and adaptability needed to navigate unexpected obstacles.
@PohjanKarhu Жыл бұрын
Not sure constant breaking of commitments are any better... Plus, "commitments" can also be used as convenient excuses to not hold oneself accountable. God knows how many times I've "committed" to changing my eating habits. Or as an alcoholic, I "committed" myself to stop drinking many times. Did I actually stop? No. But hey, I still committed myself right? That way I could dodge accountability. But every time those "commitments" were shown to just be empty words, the emotional impact on everyone was real. Commitments still come with expectations. It was only when I PROMISED to people I cared about, and I felt the weight of that promise, and I was thus held accountable to my promise, that I actually got sober. Promises can give the necessary disciplin and accountability. But of course they lose that effect if overused and watered down. Either way. It's all in the context of what is actually being promised/committed. I can promise to work towards releasing a new video every week. Or I can commit to deliver a new video every week. Those are pretty much the same thing. Both promises and commitments can be good or bad. Used and misused. Have good and bad effects on wellbeing. Depending on context. Context matters. How is the commitment/promise formulated? What is actually being communicated? That's the question.
@thewonkyembouchure Жыл бұрын
@@PohjanKarhu Both concepts should not be seen as an opposing false dichotomy resulting in an either-or binary choice or even as belonging on the same continuum. There is value in both positions. Accountability is implicit in both understandings. I could have framed my initial message on the well being dimensions of overpromising and underdelivering. Pressure can indeed be healthy. Setting ourselves up for accountability is sign of personal responsibility. We should be cautious of own well being while doing so. I appreciate your comment. Thanks!
