I think it’s pretty clear cut and not “cryptic” in the least. He wants to continue as Newcastle manager but he’s not going to make himself a fool or a hypocrite should he start to get messed around by the club…I.E he starts getting given players he doesn’t want and players he wants to keep hold of keep getting sold If someone said to you in your job that you enjoy, “do you think you’ll still be with your employer in 5 years time” you’d probably have a similar response, that providing you’re supported to progress and people don’t start making your job more difficult and less rewarding you’d like to still be there.” He’s not daft he’s probably seen the likes of Chelsea where the manager is basically just a head coach and nothing more, given players that don’t want and told to work with it. His assessment would be that he likes how things are now and he’s just mindful of the rug being pulled from under him

Are you for real or being sarcastic? Howe basically threatened the club that if his previously held power is impacted by the new appointments at the club he'll leave. @@daniel4224 Think you picked it up right but I think the club need to be fair to Eddie. Saying he knows where the door is, well up till now Eddie has had certain things there and it's shit to pull the rug and demand him to change. He signed under certain conditions, for me the club need to give everyone a bit of leeway enough to keep Eddie but also change the way it works. When Eddie goes then we can change it to what the club like. I'm sure there is a middle ground or grey area where everyone can be happy and work instead of the club just belligerently saying if you don't like it get out, the club should make it happen this way and sounds like Eddie is saying this and sounds like he is being fair

Thank you Keith.. Making it pretty obvious about the England links. Yes he’s bound to feel a little insecure, that the main people who have had his back have been pushed out the door (I understand why that happened too mind) But as for Eddie and the fantastic job he’s done and is continuing to do. Don’t fix what isn’t broken! Even with the amount of players out injured last season he still managed to get us to finish above Man Utd in 7th. Let him keep working his magic, I do feel that Mitchell and Howe can be a fantastic partnership as they both seem to believe in the same philosophy

Question: what has Eales done since August last year that has helped Eddie? Answer: failed to sell any older players; sold young good players Minteh and Elliot; unsettled Gordon by speaking to Liverpool; taken 8 months to replace Ashworth so Mitchell arrives late; Eales was desperate for Mitchell and so has probably promised him more responsibility without discussing with Eddie - hence new Performance Director joining without Eddie's knowledge. So 12 months on and no major new players have joined and somehow Eddie is supposed to deliver us a top 4 or 6th placed finish!!!!!!! I love Eddie but honestly I would advise him to take the England job - i don't think Eales is supporting him and he has probably given Mitchell the authority for playing style and not yet told Eddie. Oh, and even ManU are strengthening and still Eales expects Eddie to deliver.

I want him to stay and I think he will... But if you listen to the interview. You can hear it in his voice that he doesn't sound himself. He sounded much more raspy like he wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to say. I kept thinking throughout that it sounded like he needed to clear his throat and say what he was saying with his chest. He doesn't want to put his foot in it and put his job in jeopardy.

What better way to drive engagement with your content amongst a passionate fanbase than to suggest there’s a chance a key player or much loved manager might leave. If the headline was that Eddie Howe indicates he’s staying that would be good enough for some and they wouldn’t engage

Interviewing him at a time of change, when the structure of the club is moving and expecting anything to be clear is a bit of wishful thinking. Ultimately he is a top English manager if the club want to keep him they will, if they feel they can replace him and move forward they will. I'm more concerned that we are still yet to make major moves in the transfer market considering how much we need 3-4 high quality players

There is an underlying message in the interview. Give me a break, so you have now become a mind reader. You are projecting how you would feel onto him. Of course it’s a whole new set up, of course they will have to work out how to work together, of course Amanda and Mehrdad leaving has an impact. The only person who knows how he feels in=s him and possibly his wife, not you. He doesn’t to me sound stressed at all. Find it interesting that while you were speculating (spinning) you could not look directly at the camera. I find this spin sad as you are playing on the emotions of a passionate fan base and that is not something you usually do but guess you have to keep the pay checks coming in eh.
