Limiting or stopping spell casting is the main effect of the Fascinated condition.

Commenting for the algorithm, because you damn deserve it! You've been a consistent source of up-to-date information with understandable delivery. I truly do not know how I would've managed if I didn't find your channel as I started playing PF2

Disruptive stance also interrupts concentrate spells, not just manipulate. Great work as usual.

Having just finished DMing the Age of Ashes AP, Disruptive Stance is very powerful in the hands of a Fighter with a reach weapon. The Fighter would move right up next an enemy spell caster making it almost impossible to get away or at least stay away long enough to be able to cast after realizing what the Fighter was capable of. Being able to fly was helpful but not all spellcasters could or had any real ways of countering or preventing the constant Disruptions. A few fights near the end of the AP became trivial due to it.

Barbarians get a feat called Silencing Strike, you make a strike attack and then they make a fort save, if they fail they are stunned 1 and need to make a DC 11 check to cast a spell with a verbal component or use linguistic actions.

For the algorithm! Great channel. Since I'm here, wondering what aspect of RAW you feel suggests that a crit on a readied strike wouldn't disrupt a spell? Ready allows a single action strike, and the only proviso it gives is that this attack will be made at whatever MAP was accrued on your turn (an exception to the general case where attacks outside your turn don't usually apply MAP). So if you spend 2 actions on your turn, you ready a single action strike. If the strike triggers, you attack (with any MAP from turn). If this strike crits, all normal crit effects should apply.. including disrupting spells.
@HowItsPlayed3 жыл бұрын
It's entirely possible I've missed something, but do normal Strikes disrupt spells? Attacks of Opportunity do... but "Attack of Opportunity" and "Strike" are different activities.

Personally use the kill them dead mechanic. It works against melee and ranged attacks as well, not just casting.

What is the barbarians defensive strategy? If it's alive, kill it. If it is undead or a construct, destroy it. Then it can't hurt you anymore.

Best way to stop spellcasting is to apply the dead condition

There are rules to extract poison from defeated creatures?
@Vezalin3 жыл бұрын
No but you can make it a Skill Check based on the type of creature and set the DC to its level. Such as a Purple Worm. DC 31 Knowledge Nature to know how to harvest the venom then either another Knowledge Nature or even Craft Poison or Lore: Poison to extract it. Critical Success: Two Doses. Success: One Does. Fail: Fail to extract and ruin the poison sac. Critical Fail: As Fail but also accidental exposure.
@lugh.i3 жыл бұрын
There are not. At my table I just made a very simple and quick rule. Roll Survival with a DC of the creature's level. You can modify the roll for Uncommon, Rare and Unique creatures is you want. Success gives you one dose, Critical Success gives you two doses, Critical Failure applies the poison to you.

There are some things that seem almost hidden deep, especially related to traits, that would be nice to have you clarify in an individual video. I'm mostly thinking of the incapacitation trait.

Can also use heightened Silence and ready a Stride into range if they start casting, shutting them up and presumably wasting their spell

Huh, actually didn't realize Attack of Opportunity only disrupts casting on a crit. I haven't had a player with AoO yet, so it's never come up. Good to know, thanks!

One of our more colorful house rules is that the specialization feature for bows disrupts casters. 😁 Few things quite as funny as a mage pinned like a bug trying to get a spell off.

Great video as always! Can you clarify if disrupted spells with Attack trait apply Multiple Attack Penalty? For example a caster is grabbed. She tries to cast Produce Flame, but fails the flat check. Would the following Escape action be at -5 or full bonus?
@HowItsPlayed3 жыл бұрын
I think I would rule that the MAP applies, but may need to do a little more research to confirm.

I'm curious why the devs. decided to take out the concentration rule from the first game? It made sense, especially when the big bad monster is going to use a really nasty spell on you on his turn.

So on your table is just players or do enemies so get to interrupt on a critical? Could 4 goblins ready to interrupt the caster while the rest attacked?
@aloseman3 жыл бұрын
I can say that I would if I were letting the players. They *are* giving up two actions to do it, and with 4+ goblins, your party would probably be high enough to avoid most crits anyway.
@HowItsPlayed3 жыл бұрын
I've never used it against the players... I tend to prefer more guaranteed outcomes than hoping for a crit (as Adam pointed out). I will use Grapple against a PC spellcaster though... they shouldn't be in melee anyway.

Music is set. Near pefect loudness. Voice is still too quiet. I don't know which tools you use so I give some general hints. Look for "loudness" in your tool(s) and aim for roughly -10db for voice (KZbin being KZbin I mostly run with -8db) and set a limiter to the -8db. That way everyone should hear you clearly and your voice should sound louder and more understandable (Yes I know my dear headphone users - I too can hear a mouse fart when putting my volume on 1% ^^) There is a 'loudnes meter' for free available or if you use DaVinci Resolve (free) it has all the necessary tools built in and is overall very easy to use. Stay crunchy.
@HowItsPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the help! I use Camtasia and think the culprit may have been its "Auto Normalization" feature bringing down my volume. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a limiter or other loudness tools beyond adjusting volume by a percentage, but I'll look into DaVinci Resolve and see if I can get this issue fixed. Thanks again!
