Howl-O-Scream 2018 Opening Night | Busch Gardens Williamsburg | NEW House Reviews

Busch Gardens Williamsburg's annual Howl-O-Scream event is officially open for the season! After a delay due to Hurricane Florence, the park officially started Howl-O-Scream XX this past Sunday, with an abbreviated opening night. Only the four indoor houses were open (of the seven total houses), shows were on, and scare zones weren't ready yet due to hurricane prep. Fans of the event showed up to get their scream on, and we were there to check out the three new houses, the changes to Frostbite for this year's event, and more! I’m so happy they got rid of bitten. I missed when they had the fairytale team with neverafter, deadtime stories and the little trail with the zombie Easter bunny. Good times....

DarKastle shared studio time with the movie, Van Helsing. The music at 15:24 is from that movie, but that motif and some others were also used in DarKastle. That's why it sounds a bit different. The park has been playing that song in Rhinefeld since Bitten opened in 2009. It's a fun little fact, and it's great that they still play it.

Are the rides open during Hollow-Scream? Fun Fact: When I was about 4, me and my dad we’re walking on one of the bridges and a clown honked it’s horn on it’s nose, I never went back to Hollow-Scream since. Also, for some reason, I wasn’t scared of the clown, I was scared of the honk.

So, I have a question, I've been to Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion for the last two years, and this will be my first year at Busch Gardens. What would you recommend as a first maze for someone who has never been? And are there rides still going as the Howl O Scream is going on?

Hey Trisha! Many of the rides are still open - make sure to hit Verbolten! For a first maze...hmmm....hit Dystopia. It’s near the front of the park and most of the other houses are located near Octoberfest in the back of the park. It’ll also allow the sun to come down before you hit the outdoor houses.

Just be yourself, and make sure to show as much of the scary stuff as you can without breaking rules (filming in houses, etc)

It just depends on the nature of the channel. If Busch Gardens allows it, then it’s fine. But it’s always best to ask, even if you are invited to a media event.
