How To Be A PJ

How To Be A PJ

5 жыл бұрын

Hey guys! I'm on my Christmas break from school, officially done with my Junior semester. So I decided to do a quick video for you guys and tell you what the hardest part of selection was for me personally. I actually get this question a lot, so I hope it sheds a little light on what many people struggle with in selection.

I have done firefighting, when ya all tangled up in wire in confined space and everything stuck on your gear while being blacked out on air - it’s all mental. Prepare physically to just stay on top mentally.

I took fire science and did a course like that, black out mask, fully fitted with air canister., 90' weather.. and by god you just wanna freak out when you are really tangled up... honeslty just focusing on breathing and not overthinking helped big time.

During my Fire Academy early on they do a SCBA Test (Self-Contained Breathing apparatus). Essentially they get you in all of your PPE and go on air while they jack your heart rate up with Calisthenics. At that point nobody is used to wearing their SCBAs so they get claustrophobic or breath their breathing isn’t controlled at all. Just like anything, use that challenge to confidently perform the next time.

Being a Wildlands firefighter is tough physically. I'm working for the ccc right now and after I'm in really good shape I'm gonna transition over to afsoc to be a pj. A no quit personality is a must and that has gotten me through extreme moments. I workout everyday and every 2 days I hike 3.5-7 miles with a 40lb backpack.

@Veteran_Aviator
@Veteran_Aviator 5 жыл бұрын
Justin Nordin depends on the instructor. My advice, do the underwater with the technique that has worked for decades. If there was a better way, they would be doing it. All the guys that swore by an “improved technique” didn’t make it. From cutting the inside of your pockets out, thin summer uniforms, sewing pockets closed, all those guys quit. Focus on perfecting the demonstrated techniques. Exploit holes in the given instruction not the technique

I know this vid is a year old. But in a month or two I'll begin the pipeline to becoming a sere. I have 0 doubts in myself and my ability to not quit. My only worry is, my body potentially failing me. During indoc, are there alot things other than the PAST where it's like "alright you have 30 seconds to do this or you are going home"? Or is it more, if you don't let your mind break you'll more than likely get through? I hope this question makes sense.

Show up to your nearest spec ops recruiter, in the best physical shape you can be, and ask for SWOE contract. Stands for Special Warfare Operator Enlistment. Basically you go to BMT in a different group with additional exercises. You are being looked at from here. If you pass their PAST and selection courses, you can then choose your job in AFSOC

You know, not to be one upped or anything but ah. When I was going through the Roman Legion selection course or the RLSC, it was rough. There we’re times that it was hard to get up in the morning, but what really got me through was thinking of the 85% death rate of the course. And seeing all those guys that didn’t make it on a spike the next morning by our training compound. It really did help thinking of those guys, and I knew right then I didn’t want to go out that way so yeah, that helped.
