Great video chief. I just did this repair on one of my customers vehicles, and if anybody wanting to do this at home sees this, it may be worth your while to take the top engine air snorkel off, simply by disconnecting the vacuum line attached to it and loosening off the hose clamps at both ends with a flat head screwdriver. Only took me 2 minutes and gives you a great angle and view of the low pressure sensor.

I took my car to the auto zone store to get a diagnosis and they stated it has low fuel pressure and requires a new fuel pump. This video helped out a lot for me, thank you. Hey thanks German V- the high pressure fuel pump should be just before the fuel rail. Basically if you follow the black fuel line to the engine block, it will be along that line, bolted to the top of the engine block right before the injectors and the fuel rail. I’m smelling fuel like crazy could this be issue or could it be the fuel rail being open or closed?
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews Жыл бұрын
Hey there- if you're smelling fuel, check all your fuel lines in the engine bay. We had a black fuel line crack and have drips eek out when the engine is running and under pressure. Find the fuel line coming up to the low pressure fuel sensor, Then follow it to the engine block where it will enter the high pressure fuel pump and then the fuel rail before going to the injectors. If you can find any wetness or strength of smell in one area, shine a flashlight on the line and see if you can see any hairline fractures on anything. These lines can crack and split over time. If you look on our channel, we have a video on replacing a fuel line (which is the main repair I'm referring to from our experience...kzbin.info/www/bejne/ql6XoKWnf9FggKs). If you feel that you're in a safe position, inspect again with the engine running and a flashlight and see if you notice a spray or bubbling coming from anywhere in the line. That would be my best guess. Also, if you find the leak and repair it, best to replace the cabin air filter as well to make sure you don't have any of that odor circulating the cabin. It gave us headaches after a while. Good luck and let us know what you find out!

Great video and explanation. Getting a P0088 code. Wondering if it could be caused by the low pressure sensor sending incorrect info to the system? (2015 Fusion 1.5 L)
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the encouragement! It could be, but also maybe not- after a quick google search P0088 refers to high pressure at the fuel rail. The low pressure fuel sensor sends signals to the computer that the fuel pump is pushing fuel at the correct rate from the gas tank- this is a low pressure supply, but it wants to see a constant supply. When it gets to the fuel rail before being injected into each cylinder, it gets sped up through the high pressure fuel pump, which has he high pressure fuel sensor located on the pump. P0088 is usually related to this component from what I've read- I have not had this code personally, so this is just from research, but it's not hard to get to luckily. Take off the wiper cowl/wipers, then take off the engine cover and maybe the air intake duct. You can then lift up the foam fit around the fuel rail and you should expose your fuel sensor- it's like this on our Escape at least- may be slightly easier with your Fusion since you have a longer engine bay area- might not need to take as much off. Give a shout if you have a chance to confirm / try it!

I have a 2016 Ford Escape Titanuim with the 2.0 ecoboost. I am starting to notice that every once and a while my Escape will stall after starting. I think it has happened 4 times in the last 2 months. It is also a pig on fuel in the city. Highway fuel mileage is great. Just the city fuel sucks. Also it can have a rough idle at times. I am wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the sensor. I am not one to part swap just for the heck of it. Also I do not get a check engine light. I am wondering if my sensor is slowly wearing out. It might be worth the $100.00 Canadian. Also I only use 92 octane top tier gas in my escape. 92 octane is the highest octane gas I can get in Canada.

What ended up being the solution to your issues?
@ThinRedLine_Matt11 ай бұрын
@@CreatingExcellence I had majority of those same issues in my 2015 of the exact same model. Minus the bad fuel economy in the city as that is affected greatly by each person and their driving habits. My problems in the end went away after a Transmission Fluid change. I did the sensor swap, coil packs and spark plugs as well before that. The coil packs made a slight difference but nothing compared to the transmission fluid change. If your getting the check engine light with your issue it's most likely just the low pressure sensor. It couldn't hurt to do the coil packs and spark plugs at same time as you will be in the same general area and it's easy to DIY. Purge valve was the cause when it would stall after getting fuel (my check engine light was on with that issue).

@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews Жыл бұрын
Hey there and sorry for the delay- I would say probably not, just because the sensor is mounted to the fuel line. I think the impact driver could rattle and damage the fuel line as well, but it would depend on the setting of the tool as well as your hold on the sensor/fuel line. I know I wouldn't be comfortable with it, but if you were really careful, perhaps it would be ok.

I wouldn't- sensors can be finicky sometimes. If you aren't seeing any symptoms, best leave it be. Uts not a typical maintenance item like oil servicing or brakes. A sensor is supposed to last, but when they fa they fail and it may be at 80k miles, it may be 200k miles. Just keep the reminder in your back pocket here of your car begins struggling at idle or feels like there are hesitations during acceleration or stalling. Good question Michael

This might be a problem with my 2.0 EB Fusion, was there any fuel spraying out when taking it off?
@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews2 жыл бұрын
You can allow the system pressure to dissipate by letting the car sit for up to 12 hours and then remove it. However, along that point it is still only pressurized by the fuel pump so even if it did spray out, it would be manageable with a towel to surround it and absorb it. The high pressure fuel pump at the fuel rail is where you want to be careful but this sensor is upstream of that so it is not as scary. Just make sure to disconnect your battery first to prevent a spark in case you have a fuel mess.

@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hey @HUGEGIZMO 1, did you mean to type "misfiring"? If so, I would say likely not cause true misfiring, but it could feel like it. Misfiring is typically associated with plugs or coil packs, OR timing issues. However, when we had this sensor going bad, it would tell the computer improper fuel to air ratios and throw everything off, and our car would lurch forward and stall, and just keep hiccuping, often feeling like a misfire. It was sending faulty information to the computer controlling the fuel injectors which in turn affected the firing, so it could feel a lot like misfiring. However, there may be nothing wrong with the plugs or coil packs. Does that make sense? I am pretty sure that's what is going on at least. Hope it's helpful!

It was an educated guess, but you're right. And it did work. Its KZbin, man. I'm not a tech, just sharing what worked and hopefully it can help. It would be awesome to have a shop full of pro tools and procedures but thats not the case :) thanks for cleaning up your last comment.

Don't worry it's not you I have a bone to pick with, it's ford. No ports to test pressure whilst the sensors are in the system! That! Is pure idiocracy. I am a certified mechanic and am in complete awe of the lack of diagnostic support from Ford, or the repair manual provided by a service I pay 200$ a month for!!!!

@@benhajdu4040 My friend If the Ford is petrol engine then you do a test about fuel pressure if 1)petrol pump works, if the pump works 2) next you can test pressure regulator, if that works or there is a problem with pressure regulator 3) if the fuel pressure is OK then you can test the low pressure fuel sensor
