Very good. So often we create a mask so that we can work on that, so it was instructive to see the amendments being made to the image.
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter, I used the layer mask here exactly the same way you would use a physical mask with an actual airbrush to control where the paint is applied. (I used to use an airbrush all time time back when I was a "real" artist, now I am more of a "virtual" artist). George

George, great tips to using the airbrush tool, worked on a few portraits this weekend so anything helps. Used for the first time the Enhance/adjust facial features for the first time, had to go back to an earlier video of yours for that, thank you! Great results! This airbrush process you made simple so will be able to use it going forward. I liked that you did the eyes separately, you never get two eyes the same in color but it usually the light or shade that makes them different. This method gets you started on the right path forward. That impressionist brush is the one I am curious about. I have no idea on what that is for.....LOL. Thank you for all you do! Rich
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Rich! I didn't go into it in the video but another reason to do the eyes separately is that it allows you to use the Opacity setting and/or an adjustment layer to help match the eyes. Basically by being on different layers you have more control. I still haven't come up with a good use for the Impressionist Brush, if and when I do you can expect a video. George
@MrMoonpie0017 жыл бұрын
The opacity control is a very big thing on the eyes, many photos have the eyes in different areas, shadow, mid tones or highlights but hardly ever in the same area, it does happen at times. Having separate layers is the way to go, you got options even before you get into trouble...LOL! The impressionist brush is about worthless mainly because of the poor construction of the Advanced/Brush settings box. I like the variety of different styles of brush options but without having the basic controls to a brush, it is worthless. Even the variety of brushes is not a big deal because you already have that under your brushes settings so it is redundant and with less control. I don't know if Adobe puts such a beast on PS? If they did it would have to be better than the PSE version, if not dump the idea, this is a big zero. Making Clouds????? Who knows! Rich

A fair trade would be the Pen tool for the impressionist brush!!!! LOL..........in my dreams. I will send an email to Terry White at Adobe and see if he responds....LOL......in my dreams. Rich

Hi Rich, yep, the Impressionist Brush is in Adobe Photoshop as well. Been there for quite a while. I will do some research on that one and see what other people have come up with, maybe that will spark some ideas. George

Thanks for some of these new tips. I actually do hundreds of makeovers using Elements and use very few tools to accomplish some pretty good results. But then again, I can also use a Q-tip in real life if I had to. Its always great to learn some other tools for when you may need them. Thanks again.

You're welcome, and thank you for the positive comments. I am always a little gun shy when doing makeup on a photo since I don't have any personal experience with actual makeup. Nice to hear that I didn't mess it up. By the way, your channel is very interesting, looks like a great resource. George

My wife is beautiful to start with but when I asked her to critique a pic of herself, she said don't print that one it makes me look like I have a bit of a moustache Can I suggest a video on getting rid of those.
@twominutetips7 жыл бұрын
Just tell her to shave it off - seriously. There are face razors available for women in most drug store beauty departments. Just do it once a week and voila - no more concern.

Thank you How To Gurus. Its a niche market, but a necessary one IMHO. Appreciate your feedback. And for someone who isn't a makeup artist - well done. I enjoy your channel and appreciate the tips.

Thank you so much. I have a suggestion / wish: You use very often blending modes like soft light with fanatstic results. Would you like to make a video, in wich case to use the right mode? There are so much... Best wishes from germany.

Thanks for all your great videos. Is there a way to work on wrinkles.?
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would first try using the Healing Brush tool, then use the Clone Stamp tool if that didn't work. Then use Frequency Separation editing to clean things up. No fast, easy technique, just careful image retouching required. Any Blur filter or Blur technique will end up looking fake, you need to keep the skin texture to look real. George

This is a simple easy way of doing things compared to other tutorials I have seen in the past on this topic. As usual, I learn something new each time. Now I understand the airbush and how to use it. Thanks...... P.S. Please bring back "InfoPuppet" :)
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Not sure what happened to InfoPuppet but He no longer seems to be active on KZbin, his last post was 2 years ago. My guess is that it was a failed marketing attempt. It is one thing to make a successful and popular KZbin channel, he managed that, but it is an entirely different matter to actually make any money on KZbin. Luckily for me I already have a profitable business selling training, KZbin is just an add on to that. The person behind InfoPuppet has probably moved onto something else. George

I got to know InfoPuppet pretty well, he even gave me his phone number but I never called him (I try to stay out of peoples personal business). I think he was doing his bit that took him a while to come up with. I also think KZbin use to be a place with much low hanging fruit (as far as pay) but all of this is changed and it is very difficult to become a successful content creator nowadays unless you really shake up your game plan. One thing about business is the need to constantly be recreating yourself, finding new streams of revenue. Look, as an example Las Vegas, if you follow their history over the years they have changed so many times both good and bad it is amazing!!! It has been a gambling mecca, a family location, an adult playground, a shopping center, a real estate mecca, an entertainment capital and on and on. You have to be open to change and put a pen and pencil down and work out some numbers. People who don't change burned out. I think InfoPuppet just plain, had to go back to work. I would say the average moderate (the good ones) You Tube creators last about 3 years. Others have expanded or sharpened their content can become superstars! Rob Dyke, for example, is on You Tube but makes 14k a month on his Patreon page alone, that's not chump change for a guy who sells the strange and unusual! Thanks Rich

Thanks Rich for your reply to my comment. I think InfoPuppet is one of the most creative individuals to have posted things on KZbin. Just the puppet visuals in concert with the tutorial information took much thought and effort. InfoPuppet was a great teacher because the information within his tutorials was simple, concise and truly easy to understand and follow. In addition, he warned you by demonstration in a humorous and entertaining way some of the common pitfalls that people tend to make in performing some of the techniques. All these things are the marks of someone who is a truly great teacher. It is too bad those who use PSE did not appreciate the genius of InforPuppet. P.S...... I taught for 38 years. So I know a truly great teacher and innovator when I see one.

The man could work anywhere, I think his background was in studio photography. I am glad he kept his work up, I use to follow him all the time. Are you retired now or still teaching? Rich
@DrinkingStar7 жыл бұрын
I retired in June 2005. I taught biology, chemistry and human anatomy & physiology. I have 2 Masters degrees, one of which is in Human Nutrition. I am also a former bodybuilding champion. I have made over 60 music videos many of which are here on KZbin. I used PSE and various photo editing programs to make those videos. InfoPuppet has been instrumental in helping me via his PSE tutorials in making certain aspects of my music video.

I guess subtracting the eye shadow , or subduing the color of eye shadow would work the same way?
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, removing makeup requires a different approach. In this case we are adding and blending in more color, to remove makeup you have to remove and replace color. So different trick. George
@constantlylearning707 жыл бұрын
How To Gurus I watched it. And took notes, thought I could just do the adjustment on the shadow by choosing a lighter color. If you have suggestions, or another video. Let me know Thank you. Great Video on this editing.
@HTGGeorge7 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, you can use a lighter shade of the skin tone and change the makeup effect but it is very difficult to match the surrounding skin tone using this technique successfully. I will be doing a video this Fall showing how to remove makeup. George
