Hi Laura! I still buy DVDs, Blu-Rays, and CDs. I stream also but if it's something I really like, I'll buy the hardcopy version because you can't get online all the time and streaming services are notorious for removing items from listings. I also copy everything to a hard drive so all the discs are my backups if the hard drive fails which will happen if you drop them. I put the discs in a binder CD and they take-up much less space that way and throw away the cases. I don't use the DVD/Blu-ray binders because they don't hold as many discs as those for CDs. Great tips and great video, looking for you next installment. 😊👍✨🌹

When school shopping I would always buy a few extra supplies of things my kids would always seem to run out of by the middle of the year (glue sticks, crayons, pencils, paper). I would stick the extra supplies in an old box and called it mom-mart, whenever they ran out of something they would check mom-mart and grab what they needed.

A few years ago, I was going through stationery and ended up donating loads of pens and pencils, folders, polypockets, dividers, etc to our local primary school. They *always* need stationery (and have budgets) and most of them have contracts with stationers selected by their local council (this is in Scotland). So, free stuff is gratefully received!

Oh it definitely takes a while, which is why I recommended just going through one month's worth of photos for this particular challenge. I sit down each Sunday and delete any unwanted ones from that week, plus a few additional ones from previous years. That way I'm keeping on top of current photos while also making a dent in older ones. 🙂

my mum had a big cardboard box entitled "school supplies", that was nearly 30 years ago and now I have that very same box (study build!) and it's a godsend. stored in the top of the wardrobe in the spare room, it contains everything you need when you have to top up the ole school pencil case (last night of the hols, coz you forgot to do it during the previous fortnight) or checking off the list at the beginning of the new school year (why buy more when you already own most of it)

Yes! I had a glow in the dark T-Rex skeleton from some kind of magazine as a child. Don't know where that has gone, but it certainly never moved out of my parent's house with me, so I guess they gave it away at some point. I got rid off *nearly* all of my study notes over time, the rest fits into one folder, and lives at my workplace. I really should be decluttering stuff there, because I'm afraid I brought most of my old reference / study books there.... Hmm... Photos ... my "kids" are two furballs, but I've got quite a lot of photos of them, and I am really struggling with going through them. Sometimes I just want to delete everything, just to make the process easier. In general I find decluttering digital photos harder than decluttering printed photos, because I find it so much harder to compare them or make out how many of the same I really do have. (I've sorted through my printed ones with ease, making piles of "same-ish" ones and then just picked up the ones I loved the most, sometimes comparing them side by side. But how to do that in a virtual space with folders full of photos of the same two black furballs growing up?) If you've got any tips on that one I'd be ever so grateful ...
@HannahRainbow883 жыл бұрын
It may be worth looking at "free prints" or equivalent - you get so many photos free (just paying postage) per month. Work through them gradually and delete as you go.

Everything that's digital can be transient. If you don't back them up you could lose them forever. Have things stored in more than one place, don't rely on streaming services to always have your favourite shows or films available, even digital books can vanish. I really like your videos but have to say I am really surprised that you yourself still seem to have so much stuff. Without wishing to sound critical it amazes me that after all your decluttering videos and advice to others that you yourself still have a huge amount of belongings. Surely you've got to stop this at source and be more mindful about what you're bringing in. You seem to have an constant flow of 'stuff to sort out and declutter even after all this time. Wouldn't it be better to stop the flow of constant things coming into your home? Sorry, but it's starting to come across as wasteful. Things keep coming in and you just seem to be constantly decluttering.
@HowToGYST3 жыл бұрын
Actually I don't bring that many new things into the home at all anymore. The vast majority of what we have is stuff that's just accumulated over the years. Decluttering is a long process, especially when you have a lot of stuff to begin with. I'm honestly surprised you think I still buy loads, given that nothing in this video was a recent purchase bar the school supplies.
