Here is my set up to catch halibut on the anchor. I haven't changed a thing in over 20 years. Literally hundreds of halibut have bit this.

Time spent fishing is not deducted from life, it is added as extra special and memorable. Value PLUS. Even when fishing for lost souls, and trolling for trouble. Love your work, much appreciated , by many.

Steve, love the videos on both channels. I live on the Texas Gulf Cost and we get a mess of the halibut little cousins, flounders. I'm handicapped now, but one day I'm coming up to try my hand at those guys. Thank you for what you do both here and sharing with the people!! Stay safe and don't let them get to you!

I used to live at Port Arthur Tx. We used to get Flounder when the ships would come into ship channel & pull all the water away from the edge. Use a net & be quick before the water comes back like a title wave. Had a blast. I live in INDIANA & love to fish here. I love to eat all kinds of fish but up here I like Crappy

While visiting on Kodiak Island, Alaska, a friend went out fishing early in the morning. Brought back a halibut he filleted on the dock, told me to cook it for lunch. I baked it, refrigerated it then made it just like my homemade tuna salad, it was delisious, cleaner and sweeter than tuna salad. Recipe may not be original with me, I just never heard of it before. Another lady up there made jars of pickled squid which, to my surpise, tasted very good, not fishy at all.

Gosh darn it, My State is a great State, in my area we have at least 20-28 days of +100*(37.78*C) heat index, upper 90's with humidity over 70% usually around 80-90%. Fantastic exercise for your core and diaphragm. Just taking a deep breath builds muscles. Steve, I use a 5 pound test line, when I fish seriously. 5 pounds = 2.27 kg. I will now have to join Bobby Ho and his dad fishing in the gulf, by oil rigs now. Which means, I will actually have to complete some work in the shop, sometime, somewhere. Work is a four letter word, Grandmother told me not to have anything to do, with four letter words, and I have tried to be most assiduous to her wishes.

From Ohio. I was fortunate to go to Alaska, went to Homer and fished for salmon and Halibut, great time. The 5 pound sinker we used was heavier than most fish we get around here, except catfish. Fishing up north will spoil a.guy for sure! Glad you got yours Steve.

Thanks for sharing. All flattys are good table fare. 500 hp , duel kicker motors are cool. The helm facing backwards is crazy!! I know it's not the primary for control of the vessel but I have never seen this set up before. I'm sure it works great for backing down on fish. Very cool

The chicken halibuts are the best eating. 25-50 lbs. The bigger they are the wormier and tougher. Some halibut live for decade. My dad was a commercial fisherman in SE Alaska and would take his pistol. The halibut would be so large they could damage your boat so he just shot them. We use to laugh when we told down states people we fished with guns.

Good job Steve! I love hunting but my 1 true outdoor passion is to fish. I was raised on a small river & fished it & the many creeks in our area, then graduated to lake only fishing & I’ve finally came back to creek fishing w/my youngest son & grandson. Man wish I could be there with ya!! Nothin & I mean nothin’ is better than fresh fish!!! Be careful out there but keep at it & have fun!!
