Sorry, not a spartan design. Spartans and other Greeks used the xyphos or the laconia sword, which had leaf blade designs, similar to Sting from LOTR.
@strusiek69106 күн бұрын
@@sandoe41 The type of swords came from the culture and place of production. Hence the Laconian swords from the Laconians. Xyphos had a more general origin, related to the structure of bronze and the maximum possible reinforcement of the blade, hence this leafy shape. The Spartans used kopis swords , made of bronze, much later taken over by Alexander's army as spatha, already in the form of iron. Similar shape. In Egypt, there was a curved, brown khopesh (hopesh?). Equally characteristic.

Spartans also used a sword called a laconia, it was a leaf bladed short sword, and the falcata

This is actually Xiphos (Greek) or Gladius (Roman), 300 Spartan Hoplites are using Kopis Sword, Dory Spear & Hoplon/Aspis Shield. THIS IS SPARTA! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? GIVE THEM NOTHING, BUT TAKE FROM THEM EVERYTHING!.

Хорошая работа 👍. Стилистика как у древних греков. Очень красиво. С таким клинком можно тушу животного вспороть, мелких деревяшек для костра и укрытия срубить, и просто поупражняться.

Sorry, but this is hardly a Spartan sword. Sparta was a state in Greece that dates back to ancient times, 15th century BC and their weapons were bronze and not iron. You want to tell me that this sword is over three thousand years old, pretty unbelievable, don't you think ??? I like watching your videos, but at least don't lie, please...

Thank you very much for your comment and information. This sword is a Spartan design.🙏🙏

By the time of King Leonides, they did have steel weapons, just not modern quality steel. It probably was only mildly hardinable, but still stronger than bronze.

@sandoe41 - Well, you probably have some pretty strange information, his reign dates back to about the fourth or fifth century BC, and at that time iron was processed in ancient Europe and maybe even Greece, but not steel. Even in the early Iron Age, paradoxically, more bronze was processed than iron, because iron was very difficult to process for their time, on the other hand, they already had a lot of experience in casting bronze. Show me the only find of a steel sword in the Bronze Age.

Beautiful craftsmanship but I wouldn't have ground off the original handle. It devalues it as a historical antique and it also weakened it and caused a breaking point. I would have made the brass or bronze fittings and the wood look a little patina'd to match the blade as well, but just my preference. It really did come out nice, so wipe the juice off the blade before returning it to the scabbard! You don't want to rust it out or start growing some rot up in there.
