I recently viewed one of your older videos, which was published four years ago. The subject matter of the video was Hoya Mereditti. I believe that your videos will continue to be watched for many years to come. As a relative newcomer to the field, I recognize that I have much to learn.

I have always had houseplants but never had hoyas. They never used to be available locally or easy to access here. I went from having no hoyas three years ago to just receiving #19 (linearis) and #20 (noona) today. I learn so much from your videos and just love seeing all the other varieties.

It's so gorgeous! I am trying to acquire more Hoyas from the Philippines as I was born and raised there and I am now in the US. Just makes me feel closer to home. By the way, you said Catanduanes correctly. As for Blas' last name, you say 'her-' like a female and you say each syllable a bit slower. So it's her-na-ez. Hope that helps! 😄

Thanks, Miro. Informative and entertaining as usual.

Love the leaves on this Hoya. They look so elegant with their long form and lush dark green colour😍

mine has been mealybug infested, sunburned, and is always under watered but it bounces back and refuses to die. I also have never ever pronounced the name as blash… not even once 😉

never knew I was pronouncing the name wrong until today oops 🤪

Lmao, me neither until I made the video. No one is allowed to look back at the older videos where I have mentioned it. :D

Miro, have you ever had a plant get too wet from a self watering pot? My understanding was that it would pull the water as needed. This plant was drowning.

I have both the pink and red flower, can’t wait for the blooms! I love the flowers so much that I’d like to own every color variation 😂💖

Oh, I think I may need to get both pink and red and perhaps pot them together with a cutting of this one for a colorful blooming show :D

Recently found your channel and I LOVE YOU! Even though when you rattle off the names, I feel you are speaking a foreign language. You and the guy from "Crime Pays But Botany Doesn’t" both are amazing at saying the names!! And both funny, albeit in different ways. Anywho, thank you...from a recent subscriber!

don't worry, you said Catanduanes right. and yeah you got Hernaez right. it's pronounce as her(stress on this syllable) - na -ez.

Thank you for featuring this Hoya. I first met Manong Blaz Hernaez when I was doing my undergrad thesis, as he helped ID the plants I collected from my fieldwork. He was an amazing botanist and very nice soul. Artist Cynthia Bauzon made a really nice illustration of Philippine hoya flowers including Hoya blashernaezii, if you like to see them, here is the link.

Thank you for wonderful additional information ❤️ I couldn’t find much about him online aside from a brief mention in Fraterna, so I appreciate this a lot! Sadly, I don’t see the link here. KZbin won’t allow links, but if it is not an issue, you can mail it to me or send it on Instagram. Thank you again 🌸

@@BasiePlants I’m actually an ornithologist with University of the Philippines and was lucky to have worked with Blas on two expeditions in Mindoro and Samar islands. You may google Cynthia Bauzon Arre webpage and go to downloads to find the Hoya wallpaper. With so many Hoyas named after people I know, I’ve started keeping a very specialized and limited Hoya collection. Just today, a friend gave me leticiae, espaldoniana and blashernaezii. Learning a lot from your vlogs, thank you very much indeed.

Actually you perfectly pronounced Hernaez and Catanduanes.
