I tried them and I can say that those glasses helped me a lot! My astigmatism was at -3,75 and in less than a year my astigmatism is now at -2,50. They’re expensive but they’re worth it considering the fact that I’m on my teenage and I’m still growing my astigmatism could’ve progressed and create serious problems.

Hi dr Chai :) thank you for this information. My daughter (6y.o) Sph -6 and -1.25cyd for right eye. Sph -3.50 and -0.50 cyd for left eye. Was wondering if Miyosmart lens will help and suit for her? She already use atropine 0.01% for 4 months but unfortunately for her right eye is not work as good as the left one. And is it okay to combine with eye patch for 6 hours each day? Thank you so much!

Hi Dr Natalie! Very informative video. Tha nk you. I believe e these glasses are not available in the US yet. Can we get them made in Canada or another country using the Rx from US or are their special measurements that optometrists need for which the child should be present in person? Thank you in advance for your response!

Hello Mam, My daughter is 11yrs. We are looking for best options to slow down the myopia growth. I dont have much knowledge about this. And have a few questions. Her eye measurements are Right eye ( spherical. -2.75, cyl. -2, axis 180) and left eye ( spherical. -2.50, cyl. -1.50, axis 1). How serious is her condition? What is best to use eye drops or lenses and glasses? Can we combine both eye drops and lenses? Can this be treated or completely cured? Would really appreciate your help and recommendation.

thank your for the review. Can you mention the difference between MiyoSamrt and myovision lenses? which one is more effective with a 7year old myopic child?
@drnataliechai5551
@drnataliechai5551 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for watching. They both are made with the ultimate goal of obtaining peripheral myopic defocus by way of influencing the way peripheral light rays enter the eye. The design is different of course. With MiyoSMART there are hundreds of islets surrounding the central clear diameter each with a +3.50D power to achieve the peripheral defocus. With Myovision lenses, it is more of a 'freeform design' comparable to that of a progressive lens. Studies have shown that the miyosmart lenses are more effective in myopia management in general. I hope that answers your question? Let me know how else I can help you :)

No problem and thank you for watching! A lot of the great information including research comes from the Review of Myopia Management - a great community based in the US that has information on everything. Personally, I do like to read research papers as they are mostly peer reviewed - so in a way they are scientific testimonials? This one from the British Journal of Ophthalmology is a good starting point: bjo.bmj.com/content/104/3/363 I'm not personally aware of a website dedicated to clinical practitioners posting testimonials , however if you do find one, please share! I'd be very interested to see! I hope that gives you good starting point for you? Thank you for the support! Hope you are well in Spain!

I’m 19, and I’m -3 in left eye and -2 in right. My right eye got worse by 1.5 in the last two years, so my optometrist recommended miyosmart. However she said I don’t need to wear the glasses all day (right now i only wear mine for driving and TV), so would the miyosmart even be effective? And am I too old for significant results? Thanks!

i think the question is what are you trying to solve, is it your 1. vision or is it 2. myopia issues, or of course 3. both. Perhaps provide more details for Dr. Chai. It would not make sense to me not wear miyosmart glasses all the time if you are solving #2 issue. I'm keen to hear Dr.Chai view too.

Hello Dr. Chai, I would like to ask wether the maximum -6 diopter is set as technologically possible, or it could be expected, that there will be lenses also for higher diopter. My 9 year old son has actually -7,5. Thank you for you reply.

From my knowledge, it currently is at a maximum of -6.00D at this point. I unfortunately don't have too much insight on whether they plan to expand their lens parameters yet. I certainly hope they do. However, as. mention time again, another option to consider is combination therapy together with another myopia management strategy

No problem. I'm glad you were able to learn about it. yes, the accessibility and availability of technology like this seems to vary throughout the world. All is not lost through for your son! I hope there are other options for him such as bifocal/PAL glasses designs, or even multifocal soft contact lenses options are also effective. Do not forget to encourage your son to spend more time outdoors! There's a lot of factors we can control to help him :)

Hi, I need your advice My daughter is 10 years old and she has myopia. A year and half ago, we were advised to try MiSight contact lens, her prescription was -7.75. We tried fitting it in but she could not get it in her eyes (She was 8 years then). We were then told to go for MiyoSmart glasses to help slow down the progression. We've been going for appointment and then said there isn't much change so prescription didn't change much. We went for another routine appointment yesterday and it came out her right eye is -9.25 and left is -8.25. I haven't been able to sleep all night. I don't know what to do or the next step to help slow this. From here, MiyoSmart is to -6 so probably she shouldn't have started MiyoSmart. Please any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello! Based on the feedback from my very own nephew who is using these lenses, and from other patients, there is a bit of distortion in the periphery . Some children notes a mild 'loss' of their side vision but over a good week of consistent wear, this becomes normal and those concerns seem to subside.

Hi there. Thank you for watching! From my knowledge, I believe (I could be wrong) that the MiyoSMART lenses are currently only available in Canada, Asia, and Australia ... they will be launched in the US soon. I am not so sure what the space is like in Europe but I would imagine and hope that it won't be too far away. In addition to the MiyoSMART lenses, there are a lot of other companies that are coming out with promising designs for myopia glasses, even if you do a quick google search; I would imagine that Europe would have their own in the works as well. Yes, low-dose atropine is an excellent additional strategy. It is used extensively in Asia for years, and just becoming better known in North America. I have been quite pleased (so far) with the results. I hope that helps a bit? I hope you and your family are doing well

Hello, yes. As with anything we do our best to use the treatments based on the information we have. Personally, I will suggest the MiyoSMart lenses for any child within the age range at the very least. You never know and it s certainly better than doing nothing. It doesn’t have to be the MiyoSMART lenses but I recommend that you should strongly consider some form of myopia management. The company continues to have updated research so we are keeping our eye open to the results. I hope that helps
