I haven't been so moved by a song like 'Sweet Thing' does in ages. I am so charmed by Hozier's talent but more so his political consciousness. It's inspired me all the way in South Africa to be more ambitious in my political career and writing on Medium

Thank you for this. Yes, this song moved me to tears when my favorite teacher died. He was a somewhat spiritual inspiration , and also a kind of an unacknowledged father figure. His death hurt so much. (!) In September 2019. - Hozier's rendition of Sweet Thing (the video where he has a red shirt and sings it), in a church, just.. made me bawl my eyes out every time I heard it, thinking of him. Feeling such love. Absolute love. Absolutely devastating love (or devastating to feel), but also, absolute love. And, in retrospective, I think it helped a lot, to ease the pain. Allowing it to flow freely when the time came - which came so very often. This is so much better, healthier, and so less painful, than pains that stay there because nothing makes them come out, or succeeds in making them come out and manifest/inundate you! - The bigger the pains, sometimes, the hardest they are to manifest completely, and thus they rot: they hurt so much longer, and in such a more torturing way, or tortuous way: your way to healing is more tortuous. So, I will forever be grateful to this song. I had forgotten this episode, because I have since lived many losses, much loss in my life - also wonderful miracles, wonderful accomplishments and gains, but... Thank you for reminding me of this miracle that: music exists, and that this moment, however difficult, had existed, because it was sacred to me. Thank you Tamara, and keep the writing going on!
