This song feels like coming home to your lover after a particularly hard day at work and finally being able to hug them.

“Remember me love when I’m reborn as a shrine to your sharp and glorious thorn” in this portion of the lyric Hozier is trying to get across how changed he feels within his heart after encountering this beautiful and entrancing love he has found. He wishes his new love to recognize and to capture him as his is now because he is weakened by the beauty of these “thorns” in a way that is going to benefit him he believes he is utterly adapt to her because he is this Shrike and she this thorn. He is expressing a willingness to compromise his current persona to fit into her world, just to be apart of her life. However stationary she might be, even in her stubborn, dark, and unwieldiness he is drawn to her. Like the shrike has the natural instinct to use the thorn, Hoizer has this natural instinct to connect and mend to this woman he has discovered. Listen to lyrics again and observe this.

I love the info you put in during the intro. Not many lyrics have that extra touch of effort that separates you, a true fan, from other view-seeking lyric channels. EDIT: holy crap i hadn’t finished the video. Your editing is incredible i love you

I put a *lot* of time and effort into making these so I only have the energy to make very few videos for songs I truly like, so thank you so so much for your comment, it means a lot to me!!!

Kudos for getting all the words right. Moment's Silence is indeed a hard song to make sense of the lyrics, several lyric videos posted have the first verse way off.

I love this song…. My fiancé died in December, and it’s been so difficult to try and simply function… I was praying for him, to him, asking for him to talk to me… a huge red tail hawk came swooping down in front of my car behind a blood red sunset, as this song came on 🕊🤍

I just discovered this song, and it’s wonderful. Thank you for your well-done lyric video with intro on what a shrike is. Not a well know bird in America, and understanding it transforms the imagery.
