You didn't show one of the most important parts (at least for me)... Is "where" you installed the PSU. Replacement power supply units will not fit in the original space allocated for stock PSU's. Another important item (for me at least), is the wire configuration from the 24 pin connector to the 6 pin connector. "Some" of us, ordered the ATX 24pin to Motherboard 2-port 6pin adapters and received the 4 pins in the 'center' of the 6 pin plug (two outside pins blank), in a different color-code arrangement from factory. I need to re-wire my connector to your configuration. THAT is why I watched this video, but didn't see your configuration, OUT of the 24 pin connector.

Would my 750ti work fine with same specs and psu?
@radovanrakovicky26555 жыл бұрын
A lot of misunderstandingz here. So, into SFFs (with 240 or 320 psus) you can install only low profile gpu without 6pin additional power connector. All these cards has TDP 75watts, that is is maximum which pciex16 slot can give. This type of card will never take more than 75watts, because of pcoex16 slot limit. Manufacturers recommends 300 watts psus, but FOR WHOLE SYSTEM. They dont know which cpu u use, how many hdds ans so on. For example my comp , modified 6300 : i5 3570 with 77watts ( 130watts on max load), 2 x 4gb 1600 ram, ssd samsung 850 pro, 7200 rpm hdd, additional case fan, Gigabyte GTX 1650 Mini OC 4gb 75Watts, and Im still ok during 1080 full details gaming. So cpu max 130 + gpu max 75 + 2xram 10 + ssd 10 plus hdd 10 = 235 watts. But you also never reach this limit, because games are writen to use more cpu, or more gpu, so your system will never run on cpu and gpu at max at the same time. So in normal gaming my cpu takes 80watts, gpu 75watts so I still have plenty of space with 240 psu

Very good and detailed guide, I'm sure lots of people will find this useful for some interesting mods. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of the comments here, this is not exactly necessary.These HP PCs have a small but very efficient PSU. Most manufacturers do recommend a 300W PSU for this graphics card, but cards that don't require a 6/8 pin connector can only draw 75W worth of power, which is the maximum ammount the PCI-E 16x slot can provide. Even considering a very power-hungry CPU, the stock PSU can handle the PC without any problem, since these motherboards won't allow any CPUs that have a TDP north of 95W. I know this from experience, as my personal rig is one of these SFF PCs, but the 8300 model. I upgraded it with an I7-3770, GTX 1050Ti, 16GB of RAM (4 DIMMs), one SSD and one HDD, an Asus Xonar audio card and a generic USB 3.0 PCI card. The most power draw I measured from the wall during the AIDA64 stress tests I ran was, IIRC, 167W, so the power supply still has room to breathe.

Before i bought HP 8300 SFF i knew almost nothing about computers. I would never look inside even to clean dust. When bought HP i needed to put another RAM into it. That was the whole new level project for me and beginning of new hobby. For the last week i learned about computers more then i did for my whole life. Last night i learned that i can install I7 - 3770K in my motherboard(second hand of course). I have a question. What would you think- Will my motherboard allow me to have my I7-3770K overclocked? I checked it is compatible but i read even if there is compatibility, sometimes older motherboards are not able to have processor overclocked. I already have my 450W PSU arriving soon. Will 450W of power be enough to run - overclocked I7-3770K, GTX1050Ti Low profile, 1SSD, 1 HDD, 4 sticks of RAM, Audio Interface with connected condenser microphone, Wi Fi stick, managing 3 screens and do 4-6 hours a day of video editing(beginner and medium lever of complication) at the same time? I bought this PC to learn video editing. I really liked how you did yours in this video.
@PcLaptopUpgrades6 жыл бұрын
I am sorry for not answering to you earlier, because I was on vacations. I have four computers and I have never used overclocked on them. My suggestion is procced with the upgrades for the 8300 and use overclock if you really need it. You must be very careful with overclocking because if something goes wrong, maybe you want be able to use the computer any more. For my video editing I use Dell laptop I5 5th generation, 4gb RAM, 1TB HDD, GPU with shared memory from the computers RAM. Nothing special and I am ok. For the PSU, the more watt the PSU has the better. The computer will start with 450watt PSU but if it goes to it's limits restarts or shutdown will occur. That's why before buying something for the PC you must first take a look with compatibilities and then buying them.

The GPU is at the wrong place, on the 4x slot instead of 16x slot, plus the heat from the CPU goes directly in the GPU at this place. And last you don't need more than the original psu given at 240w, I'm sure full charge at the wall you have 180w max. You should not underload the psu, always keep psu busy between 40% and 80%.
@Romerco774 жыл бұрын
I have almost the exact same configuration, except it is an HP Elite 8300. I measured the power consumption and it does not exceeds 160W ever under heavy load, the 240W original psu is fine. I keep reading your comments about why I have used 500 Watt PSU and not leaving the original 240 Watt PSU. People think. You are using a device that needs, in my case Gigabyte 1050ti LP OC, 300 WATT RECOMMENDED PSU (this is not from my head but I HAVE READ IT IN GIGABYTE SPECIFICATIONS), and some of you are still thinking leaving the original PSU and not buying a new one. 1. The original PSU is only 240 WATT. My GPU needs 300 WATT to work properly. What will happen when things get tough. You will burn it down. It's that simple. It needs POWER and you are not giving it to it. 2. You are buying a device that it's price is almost 300€, or 300$ and you are using a PSU that it's price is almost nothing, less WATT that you need and working hours are huge. You must protect your NEW GPU. 3. Yes the difference between the ORIGINAL PSU and the GPU WATT is only 60. Who cares my GPU NEEDS 300 WATT PSU not 240. 4. Yes it's a LOW PROFILE CARD why change the ORIGINAL PSU. Because GIGABYTE RECOMMENDS 300 WATT PSU NOT 240. 5. We always read the manual. We don't do jobs in computers without taking advice. We don't do things from our head. the result will be burning down the system and spend more money buying a new one. 6. I have used 500 WATT PSU because I had it spare and it is working fine until now.

I've got a question. I own this PC and since I'm starting to run out of storage (500GB HDD), I went to spec sheet on HP's website. Apparently, there are two internal 3.5 inch drive bays. Does that mean I can add another HDD (not SSD) which would ideally be 1TB 7200 RPM? (since that's what's supported according to spec sheet). Would it be a harm for the 240W PSU inside it, running two drives simultaneously? I've never added a GPU, SSD or any additional hardware inside. Thanks in advance!
@SweBeach20234 жыл бұрын
You have four SATA ports, so you could as long as you find the space install as many as four drives. 2x 3.5" and an optical drive is kids play. You could also remove the optical drive and install 3x 3.5" drives. Or you could remove the optical drive caddy and install 4x 3.5" drives. You could even with a bit of modding and a pci-e sata card install 4x 3.5" drives and 4x 2.5" drives. But that certainly seems like overkill. :-)

is this applicable to 6300 pro sff? the motherboard looks the exact same.

I haven't seen inside HP 6300 SFF, yet. As I said in other comments you can buy the 24 pin to 6 pin cable adaptor, it's cheap, and if it fits then proceed in buying the other devices that are needed.

@OnBrandRP6 жыл бұрын
You can still do it but if you're using a low profile gtx 1050ti that doesn't require the 6Pin Cable you don't have to use the adapter, the PCI-E slot can provide more than enough power of up to 75W and in a fully upgraded HP Compaq 8200 (pretty much all HP Compaq models are the same from 6300-8200) only uses 130W out of your 240W.

What the point replacing your PSU for GPU which is not require an additional 6/8pin power directly from psu. Also u put gpu in the wrong socket, in HP's motherboard white socket having a PCIe x4 and have less power from motherboard, u need to put in black socket which is PCIe x16, and it have max 75watt from motherboard. But anyways thanks for 24pin to 6pin cable reference.

The Pikachu Fam General rule of thumb, if you don’t know what you’re doing don’t touch anything. Like PC Laptop said, Most OEM motherboards and cases are using proprietary connections that most other cases don’t use. Technically you could mod a case to have those connections but it’d be a bit over doing it.
