In fact, because i was able to access the Semi Full Reset feature, the printer is printing correctly again and it's not necessary to immediately replace it. Again, thank you so much.

Good info thanks,. I have an hp c5550 all in, one. I bought and installed a non hp ink cartarge. It worked just fine for several weeks. Suddenly it stopped working and an error message popped up -replace cart with hp cartridge. I've tried some of internet suggestion on how to bypass this error code so my printer will start working again and none of them worked. Do you have any Ideas? Thanks Pete

i am having problems with the feed it takes a paper and then it says there is no paper in the paper tray. and the paper it took is not fed all the way through. I tried cleaning the paper feed several times and had no luck i just purchased a whole set of ink for this unit and i cant use it.

Check all the paper rollers in the feed box on the back ( If you Have one there 2 buttons one on ea. end to push in to pop it off be careful there are some spring tabs so go slowly with an eye on anything. also see if the feeder system is doing a Paper lift. look for any jammed Papers use a Flash Light ( Torch For Some ). Replace the box if the rollers are flat or worn out. I Guess the box is a cheap Part .....lol.

hey i tried to reset my c5180 printer and am stuck on the mfg commands page. the printer used to print okay but when i did that, it keeps asking for me to enter the special key combo which i have no clue about. still hoping it can go back to the ordinary mode for me to use it.

Try the PRINT PHOTO then again PRINT PHOTO then RED EYE REMOVAL ( BUTTONS ON FRONT ) The Support menu is PP-ReR - PP.. To get out and back to your OK You should try the CANCEL To GET To YOUR SCREEN on some its back arrow key. ( under the LCD screen ).

My printer doesn't have a red eye button. I have a C5180. I have replaced a couple bad capacitors but I am getting Ink System Failure. When I try to print an alignment page.....no ink. It has brand new cartridges. Any suggestions?

Hi! I'm sorry you have to get such a late response. For the C5180, you need the following key combo for secret menu access: hold left arrow key then press setup. The access code is just the ok button. For a secret pong game enter special combo: up, up, down, down, left, right, and ok.

I just tried "scan doctor" and it basically eliminated the problem on install, just by installing it. I presume it did something with the drivers. Anyway, the printer works fine now. I actually found it next to a dumpster and it had some other problem relating to the print mechanism, which just required an unplug of the motherboard to the print assembly. between those two, it is now working (HP D7160). Your milage may vary, but its free so I recommend trying it at least.

Have you come across where the C6280 starts printing correctly but as the page prints it starts to fade in and out? Changed ink cartridges (Black) several times with new ones, also cleaned print heads and realigned, but no change, still fades throughout the page???

My 6280 eventually uses all the colored ink even when it's set to print in black only. How can I make it print with black ink only? I'm so frustrated with it that I'm considering using black ink in ALL the cartridges. I hardly ever need color anyway.

Actually, that's not a half bad idea...although if my printer was that crappy, I'd buy another printer. Preferably not an HP. I got mine for free so I can't complain too loudly...I found it next to a dumpster and fixed it (I needed a color printer for covers and things) but I can't imagine buying a printer that is this unreliable! Every single one of these has limited timers on cartridges, tons of failures, and generally is a hassle to make anything print. Compared to my Brother laser printer, these are laughable embarassments! Even the paper try is too tiny and hard to access.

You can disable the timer(s) by removing the cmos battery of Hp Photosmart C8180 aio printer; I also installed external ink compartment (six colors) and it's been working fine for 13 years with no issues. Of course, had I known back then I wouldn't have purchased any hp products.

That's why the color ink cartridges are a bit different in shape, so you can't fit in all blacks cartridges...

May 31/ 2020 (lockdown fun:) C6280 is just what I have...! What are the odds? lol So, I'm getting this error message: "Ink Cartridge(s) Expired... I tried to fix it using your instructions but I'm unable to do so... any specific tricks to over ride the expiry date interlock? Of course this is an inexpensive printer and I take full responsibility for messing it up. Thanks. PS liked and subscribed

On mine, simply press Right Arrow & then OK to over ride Date Code Expired Ink. Since 2006, my first error now: Magenta failure. Great KZbin video repairing of C5180. "Watch it many times before attempting head cleaning."

I purchased iMac in April, well this printer only prints in black and white. Before on my PC it was no problem with color. What do need to do?

you need to go to Print Menu and make sure to uncheck any box that says Print B/W Only
