When reviewing Tablets , I think that a few use cases should always be covered like: 1.- Note taking 2.- Drawing 3.- Book Reading 4.- Video Viewing and video streaming to TVs 5).- Audio listening quality 6).- Productivity Apps: spread sheets, document creation, presentation tools 7).- Video Conferencing 8).- Photography and image editing 9).- Video Editing 10).- Programming - Software Development: IDE + Programming Languages 11).- Connectivity with screen displays and other accessories. The above list will help to convince many end users to switch to Tablets ecosystem

Good review! BTW you can install a software center from the Linux terminal in Chrome OS. There are a couple of steps, there are several YT videos on how to do it, but it's basically sudo apt install gnome-software.
@Kirby55883 жыл бұрын
I actually love chrome os and how smooth it is but I can never justify the pricing on chrome books. For a device that’s basically a web browser, the pricing should be no more than $300. You can find decent windows laptops for similar price as this.
@andyH_England3 жыл бұрын
The pricing is more than often linked to the spec, so an i7/1TB/OLED/4K will never be $300 on any platform. Also, you can run Linux and Android so it is a lot more than a web browser and for many could easily replace a Window's machine. That is probably why they have been selling well.
@TheT3rr0rMask3 жыл бұрын
I mean a $300 Wundows laptop won't get you the specs to really benefit what Windows can do. I've never had good experiences on low spec Windows devices. Those'll basically be your Office 365 and web browsing machine and Chromebooks will provide that with a way more optimized OS. Might change with Win11 but gonna wait and see
@Kirby55883 жыл бұрын
@@TheT3rr0rMask I guess I worded that wrong. The chrome book Lon is reviewing cost $599. A windows laptop at the price point is going to get you a lot more than any chrome book.
@Kirby55883 жыл бұрын
@@andyH_England if it’s for productivity only I guess I can see that. But chrome os doesn’t need monster specs to be good. I have an N5000 chrome book and it does everything without lagging out and is a 2 in 1 touch screen. Only cost $300. The downside to mine is screen res is really low but on an 11” display I can’t complain too much.

It's not just a web browser - that's outdated thinking as far as ChromeOS is concerned. It runs full GNU/Linux PC apps and also Android apps. So price it like a PC without a $100 Windows license plus an Android tablet.

I bought one of these and I am returning it. My problem is that the keyboard is too flexible and I type with my palms resting on either side of the trackpad. The slightest bit of pressure flexes the keyboard and causes the trackpad to click, registering a mouse click. It's so bad its not even usable the way I use it.

Love your videos, just not Chromebooks. Never sat right with me that I can spend north of $500 on a computer and it have an expiration date (from its release date) for how long it'll be supported for with OS updates. I mean that wouldn't be a problem if you could run other OSes on Chromebooks, but they're locked to ChromeOS with firmware screws and other such DRM, something a normal user wouldn't know anything about. I always saw Chromebooks as e-waste after a certain period of time and thusly I'd rather buy a Windows laptop.
@sloppynyuszi3 жыл бұрын
To be fair all devices expire on their OS support. They just aren’t as blunt about it as they are here it seems. You need a pretty recent computer to be able to run windows 11, and windows 10 has an expiry date. And Intel Macs are already being gimped with their new OS updates and missing features. Then let’s not get started with phone where on android 3 year support isn’t even fulfilled a lot of times. Just ask someone who bought the first surface duo.

@@StaceyAyodele Yeah, no. As someone with a M1 iPad Pro, a 5th-gen iPad Mini, and a Lenovo Chromebook Duet, I still have a third-gen iPad and a second-gen iPad Mini that I occasionally use for light browsing and video-watching. I watched the video because Lon is a great presenter. However, I doubt I'll ever purchase another Google device. I have an Asus that I love but didn't know about the end of life date when I bought it. It's in perfect condition but is nothing more than a paperweight. End of life or sunsetting devices leads to unnecessary e-waste.
@RomanOnARiver3 жыл бұрын
ChromeOS is planning to change this - you will get Chrome browser updates but not OS updates. And as we've seen from Mac and Windows 11 - their hardware has an end of life date for software too unfortunately.

@@AlphaPenComputers I'm not worried about bells and whistles. My comment is because Google advertised Chromebook as a laptop that is always up to date and never slows down. That was not honest.
