Just grabbed one from my local Walmart for $200 and got home and realizes Walmart has the better build version than Bestbuy does. Walmart had the 8GB Ram and 128GB Memory. Best buy currently has theirs with the lower specs for $300!!!! I love mines, perfect for medical school.

I like ChromeOS enough that I sold my MS Surface Go tablet on eBay and now use a Lenovo Duet 3. Chrome OS is a better touch OS than W11 imo. If I wanted a tablet just to use exclusively with touch I'd still get an Android or iOS tablet, butI really like that ChromeOS neatly splits tablet and laptop modes 50/50. Plus the small tablet form factor is easy to travel with.

Thanks for the review, I'm in the market for this. Looks like it's finally coming to Europe and US. Good to see it running Libre Office. I'm dumping Windows 10 next year and just need an average performance machine and i don't need to use a keyboard as much as i used to (arthritis and years of RSI problems!).

I was recently looking at this tablet at Walmart they have a better deal than Best Buy, just over $200 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. My understanding , Chrome OS is pretty lightweight & only needs about 4GB of RAM to run well. If I end up buying one, Walmart’s deal is the way to go! 😁👍

Just got the 8gb ram version! Everything works great so far. The only negatives for me so far are the ram being more than half full with only a few chrome tabs open (tbf I have a LOT of bookmarks) and the back-facing camera being pretty bad - especially with focusing. Besides those, it's really nice so far!

I could really see this type of device as being a good entry-level Netflix device for some people, however the lack of HD for Netflix in the year 2024 is unacceptable.

1:24 mediatek does great chips. My Acer R13 is still getting stable elm security updates into 2024, mainly for Google mail and writing in Google docs. Sadly at that time and now this chipset had no universal pen. That's why I went Apple in 2015.

I have got one of these now. I am certain the stand is glued to the plastic snap on cover that comes with the cm30 to protect the case. I think the adhesive strength is greater than what I would expect from a magnet! I assume this is a change they have made for production or maybe it's for the UK market? Doesn't really bother me, I prefer to keep the plastic case attached for the additional protection.

Appreciate you always calling out that Netflix does NOT play in HD, even after all these years. Would love for you to pass that feedback along to Google when you send this back, so they can either fix their Android framework security to allow the Widevine level to read properly, or give developers tools to port it to read properly for ChromeOS.

I LOVE my chromebook. Got me thru college! I sent Google tips for future chromebook updates and that is to be able to use the desktop and to be able to burn media like DVDs or CDs. Google need to make cromebooks be able to do more in my opinion.

4 GB of RAM is a tough sell for a Chrome device in 2024. I have the original Lenovo Duet which is a similar device. It had a beautiful screen and seemed like a great value because it was bundled with the keyboard but after about a year, the slow processor and 4 GB of RAM made it feel pretty sluggish. I pulled it out of the closet the other day and it is basically unusable now. The hardware requirements of chromeOS creep a little higher with each passing year.

It must be the device that you have since he literally shows a 4GB machine doing pretty well with many things that cover low to modest use cases. the cpu can make a huge difference as can storage speed so you have to consider that as well.

I use my original duet daily without any real issues. Do I wish it was a little faster? Yeah.. but it's perfectly usable

@@LonSeidman I love the form factor - I just wish they made one with more power. Same with small tablets. Nothing in the 7" range. The newest Kindle fire 7 can't even decode a local X265 file.

I love Chromebooks, but I have a couple of problems with them. The charging system is too flimsy. I've damaged many charging pins and plugs. Also, I fail to keep crumbs off the keyboard, and problems develop. The same goes for the trackpad. In fact, I'm going to have to replace the Chromebook I'm watching the video on because of my failure to keep it clean.

If you're talking about what I think you are, I was just complaining about that. I saw this thing where a company was charging $9940USD a month for something [& requiring a year's worth to be paid in advance] and they wrote it as "$9.940/ month". I hate that, if someone misreads or types a period as a comma [or vice versa] then the amount changes by 1000×; sure there is an extra zero & people probably won't misunderstand but why not just write "$9940.00/ month", then there's no possible confusion. The company was CloudFlare, if anyone is interested on an internet hosting(CDN/DDOS protection etc.) company possibly extorting a gambling website, then check out the video I watched; "Cloudflare: Pay Me 120k Or We Shut You Down" on "ThePrimeTime" KZbin channel. (The channel is for edited videos taken from "ThePrimeagen" 's streams. It's his channel, he mostly does programming and general tech videos.)

For $300, I would consider the very recently discontinued iPad 9th generation for $250, plus an inexpensive keyboard case and 3rd party pen for $50. The 9th gen iPad is probably a lot snappier than the Chromebook, and better software selection.

Also, it's a Chromebook, but I'm getting serious Eee netbook deja vu from this product. Remember the Eee 701? The screen was sandwiched between a combination bezel and speakers in the vain hope of disguising just how tiny the display was. It was like Wendy's Where's the Beef?, except with an LCD panel.

Instead get the iPad Air fifth gen for $399 on sale with M1 or get the 10.9 inch for 300 with an A14 but don’t get this feeble thing. It doesn’t have windows or Mac OS so you can’t use it with Final Cut or a brokerage application or photoshop. Do not buy this junk. Buy maple syrup and an iPad.
